Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Im curious about Smart’s implementation of their SmartBro service. For some reason, when I tried downloading from rapidshare, it said that my IP was already downloading from the site. Now, I know it wasnt me downloading, so is it possible that im sharing my IP address with someone in the Smart Network or perhaps with a lot of other subscribers? I know it IS possible, but that could create problems in some internet applications… like for example, downloading from rapidshare.
Also, im sorry if I havent really gone through everyone’s posts in the forum, but, has anyone been experiencing loss of connection to SmartBro’s DNS servers? I can ping the gateway fine… But no replies from their DNS servers. What seems to fix it (sometimes) is a reboot of the Canopy antenna.
I can relate with some of my fellow subscriber’s complaints about the expertise of SmartBro’s tech support agents. I tried calling once to see what all the fuss was about, and I saw that the agent was hugely lacking in both product knowledge and professionalism. Coming from a call center myself as a tech support agent serving a DSL ISP, I know what I should expect in terms of troubleshooting and handling. But frankly speaking, man, they DO suck.
I’ve actually been a happy subscriber of PLDTDSL in mandaluyong for years now. I just got my SmartBro hooked up in my house in Bustos, Bulacan because it was the only broadband connection available in the area. After three weeks of service, im already running low in patience… Heheheh…
OH, and lastly, for some reason i cant access the Canopy antenna anymore from it’s IP of 169.254.1.1 I never changed it, and Im not behind a router.

maybe hindi maayos ang pagka install or hindi kayo malapit sa base station,! sa location mo ata yun!
i have the exact same problem. the tech support peeps are so inept and just know how to give canned responses. email responses from their customer care is also nothing but canned responses and they are not doing anything at all to fix the problem. what i think is happening is that they have a limited number of ip adds and more than one subscriber uses the same ip. in other words shit happens.
im getting the same problem heck i just turned on my pc and tried downloading from rapidshare and it tells me that im currently downloading a file so i waited like for 3 hours then i tried it the next day and still im getting the same message i tried flushing the dns and renewing the ip still the same error and i think the doesnt even change.
Hi I think it is because of smartbro’s implementation using a canopy.. why dont you try to check your IP at whatsmyip.com and also ask your neighbor using also smartbro I bet you will have the same IP address. I think it is because we are connected to a WAN (that is the canopy) so it means that a lot of smartbro subscriber are using the same IP address and their WAN is distributing the IP to US. try to check the IP result from whatsmyip.com and the IP of your computer using cmd>ipconfig or right click in Local Area Connection A small pc Icon on task bar>click Status>then support> that is if you are directly connected to smartbro without a router If on router you can chec status and IP. Their tech support might be hiding it or they are just definite idiots coz I hate it when you ask a tech support and give you nothing. Anyway someone told about this and I also figured that out using the opiton above figure my IP on the net and the IP on my PC. So definitely in a single area or Smartbro signal a Lot of users are SHARING The same IP
SMARTBRO using a NAT address. internal sya mostly 192.x.x.x ang IP ng mga cpe hosts or clients. Its a PRIVATE IP address. hindi PUBLIC address.
so most the smartbro using 1 PUBLIC IP address, kaya lahat kayo nagshare sa isang public ip address.
to tell smart honestly, one of my reason why i avail smart bro is because i really want to play online games but the problem is only smart bro is prohibiting this online games site. i mean lately i can play cabal in e-games.com and crazykart from level-up.com but now they prohibit it. i can’t say that the website is having the problem the fact is smart bro is the problem because when i tried opening this website for other connetion it open.
my problem is why other connection open this site while in smart bro which is i am using now doesn’t connect?
is it the evidence that other connection is more reliable than smart bro?
please fix this problem as soon as possible!

hi poh nag loloko kasi ung adaptor ko dito e ung motorola ung tatak ayaw kasi gumana minsan pag tinangal ko na sa saksakan pag sinaksak ko uli ayaw umilaw tsambahan lang mapailaw pwede ba i deliver ung adaptor naun pwede ba papalitan … thanks

hello… may problem din ako sa smartbro connection… hindi kasi kami makalaro ng online games ng maayos lalo na sa cabalph lagi “fail to download server information”
taytay rizal location namin at sabi nila ok naman ang location namin sa wireless nila at malapit lang daw kami sa basetower but still mahirap makaconnect sa online games kahit sa crazykart at rakion me problem din… hindi ba talaga pang online gaming ang smartbro? help
I started using smart bro prepaid a year ago. I had lots of troubleshooting to make because I use Windows 7 and some compatibility issues exist. But I managed to resolve the issues and had my configurations set running smartbro at 2MB receive maximum when I download from torrents. I live in a building at the 4rth floor in Quezon City so I haven’t much problem with signal. I have full bar, HSPDA. But recently when they launched the 200-five days unlimited surfing, even at full bar HSPDA, the speed receive rate averages 25kps. I tried some changes in my configurations to find the higher speeds and I would regain the speed I want, but eventually something seem to learn about it on the “other side” so that speeds goes down to the same slow speed rate again. Now, I feel so annoyed with Smart Bro prepaid, even then, because if you don’t know how to configure your computer, you will receive the slowest speed. Smart Bro seems to offer unlimited surfing, but they have not specified the range of speed you will get at full bar HSPDA, so then even at unlimited, you get slow speed. I feel really annoyed and I won’t recommend smart bro prepaid to my friends.
Now, I consider other similar USB Internet Connection Units. My annoyance of Smart Bro prepaid makes me think to trash it. I feel bad. Hind ko naman masisisi ang unit or ang computer ko, it seems to me nasa implementation yun ng smart bro. I tend to think, because I feel bad now, to consume all the remaining balance and then buy a new unit from other brands and never to use Smart Bro again.
