Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Ei guys I’m from Nueva Ecija!
So far SmartBro connection here is working fine until last September when my company’s corporate mail which I have set up started to malfunction.
My outgoing mail won’t send but our accounts can recieve mail.
Can anyone here help me with this problem? The darn hotline is hard to contact you need to wait for an hour before someone could talk to you..why cant they put up more tech help huh!?

Hi
Normally, we can’t send email through the SMTP server of one ISP while currently connected to a different ISP. To resolve this, simply send ur email using the SMTP settings of the currently-being used ISP, and just set the reply/return address to your original email address.
For example:
Your corporate email is hosted by, say, ispOne.com
If you send email, you use smtp.ispone.com (assumption lang ng smtp server)
But if your current connection to the internet is SmartBro.
Your smtp settings should be smtp.smartbro.net for it to pass through, else you may get a relay error.
If you’re using Outlook Express, create two email accounts – one for ispOne and another for SmartBro. You can still receive msgs sent to your ispOne inbox and able to send outgoing email.
‘hope this helps….
Hi,
I actually setup my SMTP (I’m using ThunderBird) to smtp.smartbro.net but it still not working. I keep getting an error.
But when I tried to send mails in my smartbro account (provided by them) the email was sucessfully sent. Seems I cannot send emails from other domain than smart bro.
Please advise.
yeah that’s absolutely right. i tried sending a couple of mails to a “@yahoo.com” domain but i just failed. on the first few days after i setup my ms outlook it was working fine. there seem to be a problem on their server not ours.
btw, i use this setup on ms outlook. never tried thunderbird though.
incoming mail: pop.smartwifi.com.ph
outgoing mail: smtp.smartbro.net
try setting up other email clients like ms outlook and test it there or disable any firewall if you have one.
here’s how I fixed it. Leave your POP3 setting as is. Change your SMTP to smtp.smartbro.net
Now the bit it doesn’t tell you anywhere on the internet….
In “More settings…”/Outgoing Server check the MY outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Check the button for Log on Using and input your username and password given to you by Smart. Click OK , next, finish. Go back and try to send test email
No username or password coz Smart forgot to tell you???? Username is the first letter of you first and second name plus your family name. eg Charles B Atlas -> cbatlas and the password is 123456
Switch OFF any STMP accelerators such as OnSpeed if you have them installed.
Cheers

I’m having the same exact problem – could not send email when using outlook 2007 but i could receive one.
I’ve already these settings:
incoming mail: pop.smartwifi.com.ph
outgoing mail: smtp.smartbro.net
and
incoming mail: pop.smartbro.net
outgoing mail: smtp.smartbro.net
** ANd either way, i couldnt receive any email still. **
~SET-UP INFO~
Internet Email settings:
(General)
[myusername]@smartbro.net;
(outgoing server)
checkbox for outgoing server SMTP requires authentication is checked w/ my logon info.
(connection and advanced menu)
I used the defaults.
I hate to call smart TS because it’s BS to wait for so long on the line and be placed on a loooooooooooong hold for no resolution.
WHen doin the repair/diags, POP3 appears to be good but the prob here is with the smtp which appears to be a problem with the server itself – and our ISP should take care of this concern. I’ve already emailed them and never got a response. That’s pretty odd..
im using mac mail and smartbro. i had my yahoo account set up in my Mail app using smtp.mail.yahoo.com.ph and i can send and receive emails.
one more thing.. i can’t send emails using other domain, specially my own personal domain email address.. bull-shit to all developer/engineer of technical broadband that can’t solve this kind of shit puzzle. IMOE i have tried to send many times in Smart Ass, but no luck. and when i use Globe Dick, it can send many as you can. so, is this the time that do we need to jump ship to the other ?
Im using my personal webmail in Outlook
On the advanced settings..
Enable SSL on both pop and smtp..
and use the following ports:
Pop: 995
SMTP: 465
Hope this helps..
I have been using a private e-mail server and i used smtp.smartbro.net as sending server.Working fine pero alam kaya nila na ung ginawa nilang yun eh puwedeng pang scam ng users ng smartbro? Set an e.g. create an account with just an smtp and use the service of smartbro, so it means just for sending purposes, now think of a good email name like yourname@senate.gov.ph or name@microsoft.com.ph, then try to send it to anyone who you want to fool, your message will be sent but expect that most of the time it will go to their junk folders dahil nga magkaiba ang server.
)
set your smtp to smtp.smartwifi.com.ph
don’t change your smtp server. just change the port to 587. i tried every advice given above and they don’t work for me. i did this using smtp.gmail.com and it worked. it’s not true that SmartBRO does not allow other outgoing servers aside from their own. hope this helps.

i changed the port to 587 for gmail…. galing! gumana nga. thanks for posting this… though we should have seen that dun sa settings na nasa site ng gmail, kasi naka-post naman din dun hehehe.
Outlook has been working fine with smtp.smartbro.net sinces ages. HOWEVER since last night when i try to send i get this message
” ‘info@ocean-republic.com’ on 3/10/2009 2:11 AM
451 4.7.1 Greylisting in action, please come back later
SO i guess they changed something and never told any body. The support office here is useless. So i’m stuck trying to send emails.

Guys pls. help me. i’m using smart bro prepaid and i set my company email using smtp.smartwifi.com.ph and it works and sending no error, but but when i try to send to my own address, my message is not arrive on my own email. pls help me for my smtp settings. thanks in advance
EVERYONE just switch to Globe Tattoo. Globe Tattoo works fine with smtp ports as far as my webmail configuration is concern. Smart could not fix that problem until now and their technical support could not do anything. Based on my experience recently, I was really pissed off by Smartbro with this problem and it really affected my work a lot because I could not use my outlook to send emails. After switching to Globe Tattoo my outlook mail works very fine with me! Globe Tattoo Mabuhay ka! Nabuhay ulit ang work ko!
Cannot access yahoo mail via smart bro. Tried laptop with xp as well as desk top with window 7 but still failed; tried it in one internet shop, via dial up, even abroad & accessed it. Hence, it’s the smart bro isp! Anyone managed to solve this as the entire Smart Tech’l. Dept. CANNOT!
Eh hinayupak talaga itong smartbro. minsan gagana, minsan ayaw. those server engineers are a fluke. I guess we should start identifying them, list down their names and publish them to the internet so no one will ever ever hire them ever again.
Haaaaaaaaayy… smartbro iloilo…please do something naman quickly… in the past year, okay na okay ang connection ko dito, bakit ba bigla na lang ganito…mawawalan ako ng hanapbuhay nito e…
and if i call for your technicians to visit my home here and have them check the problem, the agents would say, tomorrow , tomorrow, tomorrow is myschedule…….tapos hanggang 14 na morrows na… masamang magalit pero talagang nakakairita kayo e…
POP means Post Office Protocol—your incoming should matches to the current setting provided by your email server
ex. your email is behlat@yahoo.com
POP3 or Incoming – mail.yahoo.com
SMTP means Simple Mail Transfer Protocol—your outgoing should matches to the current setting provided by your ISP
if your ISP is SMARTBRO then the outgoing should be smtp.smartbro.net
atleast one of these should work whether incoming/outgoing…
IF STILL NOT WORKING…
* check the error code..the error code is standard for all email clients. best way to look for the meaning of the error code is through support.microsoft.com then follow the steps provided
*IF INCOMING is not working, disable your security software. If it works then all you have to do is to check your security settings for the INCOMING…Like NORTON, MCAFEE they these special setting for incoming messages
*another for INCOMING, if your using a yahoo account you won’t be able to use it into any email clients especially if it’s a free account..You will need to sign-up for their yahoo plus
*IF OUTGOING is not working, check first if you’re able to go online, or else you cannot send out messages…or verify the smtp settings by calling your ISP hotline
gumagana pa po ba ang SMTP sa globe?ask lang po,hehehe webmail.globelines.com.ph di po maka rcv outgoing q….tsk2x…
