@ why fie?

an agent called me regarding the ed2k issue and they say something about NAT which i don't understand a lot. but 1 thing is sure i quite understand, he said that NAT is something that changes your IP address (damn english is hard) as the others see them. i am using bitcomet as a torrent client (which works quite nicely) and i've seen some sort of NAT configurations/boxes which confuses me. i'm searching for some posts over that net regarding "NAT Traversal", which bitcomet does have (did i spell it right?) and i've read (to be confirmed...) that it can solve that NAT issue. with regards to the manual port forwarding, well, i'll go study on that (and call them, hoping for a nice answer). with the issue on the antenna, what kind of antenna do you use? the one that looks like a box, or the one which seems to be longer? if it is the second one, try going to 169.254.1.1 (using your browser) and there are a lot of options to see. i can't configure it well since i don't understand it, but if there is something there that you find that can help my ed2k problem, many thanks! ^^

oh btw, i just want to ask what kind of smart wifi plan are you in? if it's 988, then they might say the same "restriction" thing to me.

@jhajha

some things to consider for rebate system (base dun sa nakausap ko sa wireless center):

(bows)

i symphatize all smart wifi subscribers ...actually kakatawag ko lang sa customer service nila i was really upset talked to there supervisor kc i dnt have internet connection for almost a 2 weeks ...matagal na itong problema ko sa kanila every month if you are going to file my emails to der escalation team at mga tawag ko sa tech support and billing department nila pwede na ipabookbind ....well im not exaggerating there service really sucks!!!!..as soon maka isang taon na ako i will disconnect my service with them i am tired na kase der are times pag wala akong service ng 1-2 days nde ko na itinatawag kase nakakapagod na

pero advice ko sa mga subscribers
if you dont have service for days already or worst weeks ask der customer service for refund for the days you dont have any service just make sure that when you dont have internet connection you immediately call there techsupport so that they can note your account about the problem and make sure na you have records also so that you can make a followup ...they will adjust it ..
...call like 2-3 times for followup and get there reference number especially for adjustment just to make sure that the person who handles your cncern did der job cuz there are times ma-ooverlook lang yung kaso nyo .. walang masama magask ng refund its your right as a consumer to ask for it ..bakit naman kau magbabayad ng buo kung kalahating buwan lang serbisyo....(make sense diba...)
...i hope that smart wifi big boss's can do something about the service kase hassle talaga
the reason i applied for smart wifi cuz we dont have any landline phone and i have no plans to apply kase dagdag gastos lang since wala naman ako lagi sa bahay i opted for this service i was convinced before this was the best choice for internet connection kase gusto ko mas mabilis ....i must say i regret it
....bagsak ko ngaun i applied for phone line kase laging down ang connection ng smart wifi i have to get a landline phone for backup ..eh halos magkasing bilis na rin sila ng dialup

....one more thing if u did everything ....all the trouble shooting steps ask nyo agad for there tech people to go to ur house kase minsan sa antenna problema .u dnt knw maybe u have a deffective antenna and it needs replacement so dnt waste ur time calling ....
waste ur time doing troubleshooting eh yun pala nalaglag na pala yung antenna ..tsk tsk tsk make sure u tell the tech guy to install it correctly

normally you need to do a manual port forwarding to maximize your broadband speed, this is the process of specifying on which port to let the ed2k network to go to and fro. the best way to do this is to get into your wifi antenna's configuration and specify which udp port to use. specifying it into your windows xp isn't enough as your wifi's speed is mostly dependent on your wifi's antenna's ports, not entirely on windows xp's. now the big problem is this, i have the same problem as yours when i tried to use utorrent, a program that is almost alike with ed2k. i asked smart's technical support twice, different agents though, to help me configure my wifi antenna's udp ports and i got nothing. the first answer i got was, "your current plan doesn't permit you to specify which udp port to use", the second was, "i'm sorry but we cannot disclose that information". another funny thing is, that same person told me that they cannot disclose what public ip i'm using at that time, assuming that i get different public ips each time i use smart wifi coming from a restart. anyways, going back to the story, as i was informed by the softwares i use and by the academe i came from, specifying a port to use on a network is not dependent on which "plan" you have but it is dependent primarily on the device that is giving you access to the network. either i am misinformed all this time or the smart reps doesn't know what they're talking about. what i'm getting at? well, try to ask smart reps how to do a manual port forwarding and try to get some help. if you do get any useful help, please share it with me, as i've given up on their "very helpful aftersales and technical services". i tried using emuleplus too, but it can't connect to other peers using smart wifi but with dial-up, it connects easily. the only p2p softwares i used that can connect to peers are utorrent, which has a below average speed for a broadband connection considering that i'm getting a file which has a number of sources that is enough to give me the full speed smart advertises everyday; and the other one is limewire, which sometimes gives me over the advertised speed of smart wifi.
