Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Change your portal password as soon as possible if you are using the default password given by your installers.
There maybe a possibility that your account can be compromised if you don’t change your password.
If you can’t change it for some reason (like an error or invalid email address which does not permit you to edit your profile) call Smart customer service and ask for assistance so you can change your password. I would also recommend to change the security question (ex: What is your favorite color? etc) in your profile while you change your password.
If somebody has access to your default password and username and account number before, he can generate a new password using the “Forget your password?” link in the portal if he knows the answer to your security question. All these info are available to your installers if you don’t change your password and security question as soon as he goes out of your house after installation.
It may also be a cause of your intermittent problem if somebody else is using your paid account…so change your portal pwd after reading this suggestion and post in your comments.

I forgot to mention, I have my intermittent problems for 2 months and my ping to yahoo.com has never been this clean (many time outs) after 8 trouble tickets and 4x antenna replacements my problem remained ( internet connection going up and down plus Smart portal frequently showing up on my screen even while surfing) the last thing I did before the problem dissapeared was to change my portal password, I am not sure if at the same time somebody at Smart finally fixed my problem while I was changing my password but helpdesk can’t tell me what they fixed or change, it just worked like magic…so if you have intermittent problems and Smart portal kept coming up, try to change your portal password and security question, it is worth a try and there would be no harm done on your part. Let us know if it worked for you too.
One thing I know, if you can ping the gateway 129.223.224.1 on continuous and there are no timeouts but you can’t ping their DNS or has many timeouts, the problem is not in your side, it is definitely on SMARTs side.

Just found out that you can get a better signal reception if you change the color code of your canopy antenna. My color codes choices are 128, 130, 131 – the smart installers put it at 130, it is working but it is slow with lots of timeout if I ping yahoo.com -t .
I then tried 131 and voila !!! my internet connection becomes faster and ping to yahoo.com -t are WITHOUT timeouts NOW!!!yehey!!
If you want to know the details how I did this. Just let me know as I have not much time today to put in more details…cheers! ciao!
Ok I’m back…here goes.
First : ping any URL like yahoo.com on continuous ping (ping yahoo.com -t) If you are getting many timeouts plus replies and you are not satisfied with this, you may want to change your color code and see if you can get a better signal. It worked for me and I just want to share it.
Disclaimer : this may work or may not work in your setup so just return the original configuration, save it , if in case it does not work on you. Don’t change or experiment on any other configuration except my suggested color code, it may totally mess up your connection and I can’t help you with that.
1.Usually the canopy ip address is 169.254.1.1 so you need to make your PC 169.254.1.2 so you can access the canopy antenna.
2.When you have changed your PC ip address to .2 , go to your browser and type in 169.254.1.1 and the canopy screen will come out.
3.Go to Configuration then Radio , and check out your color code , remember or write it down, in case you need to return it to the orginal color code number.
4. Go to Tools, then AP Evaluation, and then check out color codes available in the Indixes (0, 1, 2..etc)
5. Your current color code should be there plus other color codes..
6. List the other color codes start with those with high RSSI.
7. Go back to Configuration, Radio and change color code number getting info from the list you got from no.6. Save the changes, Reboot.
8. Go back to your Local Area connection properties and return to Obtain IP Address Automatically.
9. You will get the Smartbro portal screen , need to enter the username and pwd .
10. Ping yahoo.com -t again and see if there are improvements. Repeat procedures to try other color codes and see the best configuration. If no improvement happens , you may want to return your original color code. This procedure is just a suggestion and should be tried with caution. (See Disclaimer in front) Hope this helps.
Sorry forgot to mention. You MUST know your Smartbro Username and Password before doing this.

I am not a smartbro user but I help my sister to manage it. As far as I know, no need to change any settings on your firefox. Just install it and thats it.
uhm… i did all the tweaking wit my stupid canopy thingie my jitters is always between 2 and 3 rssi at 1000-1200 and im using tcp optimizer but still im getting crappy download rates… before i got temp. disconnected cos of some billing problems but before i got disconnected i have stable 50-60kbps download rate oh yeah… i also had my antenae extented for like another 10 feet…

guys, i’m new with smartbro like 3 weeks or so…i’m kind of disappointed with the speed, reliability, and continous connection of smart…b4 i apply for this, many good things i heard about bro… anyways…here the thing, i tried to change my color code then after rebooting, then portal.. then it says another connection has been detected…i already reset my connection first b4 changing color code.. but the result is still the same.. maybe i should choose the installer reset in the portal first but the thing is i dont know the password… please guys let me know if know the password for the installer reset in the portal…. thanks
Hi i have intermittent connection for the whole month still no action from them…I tried to change my password but it wont let me change it,it keeps on saying error on getting SID…I called them they said i cant change it now…sigh….what a smartbroken life…

i had problems with smartbro connection for 2 months and there was no immediate response from them and their customer hotline was so hard get through. Beside i paid on time and still didnt get good service. I don’t know why they keep on telling us that there was the problem with the base station and all that crap excuses. I sent them an email for an immediate action. But gladly i was able to have my line back to normal even without any technical action from them. so smartbro has good connection in some other location but not at all angles.. and we the subscribes cant even switch to other network..cos of the 1 year contract which i don’t even remember signing a contract..but i just filed something like with the brochure and i was not alarmed with the one year subscription..they are not 100% customer oriented. SMartbro has still problem that they need to take an action so that subscribes has a fair share cos we are paying them on time anyway..so we deserve good service from them. It is headache when the line mess up when you are in the middle of a conversation here online.. the best thing that you can do is email them the problem..i have a neighbor na gustong magpakabit..but i told them na di maganda ang connection..
I’ve been having problems with my connection for a while now.. actually, this is the second time. the speed keeps on going down, and then it just dissaprears. comes back, and dissapears again. and ever since i got this internet my download speed has always been just 1-5 kB/s… now it’s goes up to 15 kB/s sometimes… but it still keeps on dissapearing. i gotta say SMARTBRO is pretty dissapointing.

Hi. I’m new in SmartBro and I’m using it for 3weeks and I’m very disappointed. Downloading speed is 2-8 kb/s.. paki ayos naman ang smartbro namin umaasa pa naman kami na malakas ang signal nyo un pala lakas makaasar. marami na kaming beses tumawag sa hot line nyo na *1888 pero hanggang ngayon wala parin. dalawang beses na naming personal na ireneport sa branch na pinagkunan namin sa magpapadala ng tao para magconduct ng site inspection pero hanggang ngaun wala. action naman po kaagad. walang problema sa monthly payment naka debit sa credit card ko.
