Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
I am presently using a Digitel dial up prepaid card to my PC to connect to the internet and I have a roomate who is using a Smart Wifi to her laptop computer. She installed a Smart antennae to our room. Most of the time my roomate bring her laptop in the office and she told me that I can use her the Smart WiFi cable to connect to my PC so I will not buy a Digitel prepaid card all the time.
Please help me to configure my PC using the Smart WiFi cable.
Will it affect my present program of accessing the internet using the Digetel dial up prepaid card? I still want to use the Digitel dial up prepaid card whenever my roomate is using her laptop.

just go to your network connections then click the tcp/ip properties, select obtain ip automatically. plug in the smart wifi cable to your nic then you’re good to go!
if you don’t have a local area connection icon in your network connections yet, do these steps (for computers running on windows xp service pack 1):
1. click start> network connections> new connection wizard> next> connect to the internet> next> setup my connection manually> next> connect using a broadband connection that is always on> next> finish
go back to the network connections folder, you should see an icon that says “local area connection” under the heading “lan or high speed internet”.
2. right-click the “local area connection icon”> properties> put a check on the “show icon in notification area when connected” (this is to effectively monitor if you are connected to smart’s nework or not)> make sure that there is a check on the box “internet protocol (tcp/ip)” and highlight it> click properties> you should be in the general tab, make sure that the radio buttons “obtain an ip address automatically” and “obtain dns server address automatically” are selected> click alternate configuration tab and make sure “automatic ip address” is selected> click ok button.
3. you should be back to the general tab of the local area connection properties. click the advanced tab> make sure that the box “protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the internet” is checked. DO THIS ONLY IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANOTHER FIREWALL TO PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER . HAVING A FIREWALL IN A COMPUER RUNNING WINDOWS XP IS ESSENTIAL IF YOU DON’T WANT YOUR COMPUTER TO RESTART FREQUENTLY DUE TO THAT RPC (REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL). if you have another firewall other than the xp firewall, don’t put any check on the box anymore> click close> go to your desktop.
4. ONLY DO THE NEXT STEPS IF YOU’RE NOT ON A PRIVATE NETWORK, LIKE AN OFFICE. DOING SO WILL REQUIRE PERMISSION FROM YOUR IT ADMINISTRATOR AS THEY MIGHT NEED THESE OPTIONS FOR THE HEALTH OF YOUR ENTIRE NETWORK. right-click the my computer icon> click properties> click the remote tab> make sure that there are NO check marks in the boxes, “allow remote assistance invitations to be sent from this computer” and “allow users to connect remotely to this computer”> click ok button.
5. close everything, save anything you need to save before closing, and turn off your computer. hook the wifi cable into your lan card port and turn on your computer. surf.
ixara elo po, system specs mo po muna?
@ kuya
system specs are not that relevant here. just what do you want to prove? just curious. if you want us to subscribe to your ideal system specs then i’m sorry to burst your bubble but we know what we need. by the way i have an amd duron 1100 and internet works just fine on it. enough with the system specs please ok? wait for a post concerning system specs then grill us all you want. no offense okay?
i would suggest just to use a router so that you can share your internet connection..
what you need.
1.you need to have NIC installed if you dont have .. buy a new one cost around 400
2.router linksys or dlink cost 2,300
3.just plug in the ethernet cable of smart to your router.
4.plug your ethernet cable to your nic and other end connected to the router.
5. access router page.. open your IE type 192.168.1.1 choose DHCP.. release and renew ip add if you already have an ip to your router then restart your pc and router.. and when your friend wants to connect just plugin another cable to his pc and thats it.. you just have to share the fee for the internet… hehehehe 988/2…
Guy’s,
Tama po yung mga ibinigay nyong mga ideas kay Ixara Torres pero hindi po ganyan basta basta gagana yung smartwifi.Mas maganda yung idea ni @quake,para wala masyado problema.
Please use a linksys router:
1.Buy a router.make sure meron lancard yung PC mo(kahit isa lang).
2.By default(new router)ang router configurations ay naka dhcp ip.no need to configure pa pero if you want magstatic ka at magassign ka ng ip sa pc mo na 192.168.1.2-254 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 at gateway 192.168.1.1.Kung d k marunong magconfigure ng lancard mo tingnan mo yung mess.ni @why fie?.kung dhcp ang gagamitin mo sa router mo,dapat nakdhcp din yung pc mo at pc nung kasama mo.
3.after configuring your lancard and router, connect mo na yung POE(from antenna)to WAN ng router tapos yung kabit mo yung pc mo sa port number 2-4.kapag nakabit mo na yung mga cables, restart mo yung router at poe then wait for atleast 1 min.
4.open mozilla firefox web browser then browse any sites to be redirected to smartwifi portal.once redirected, login ka(dapat alam mo yung username/password nung kasamahan mo.Follow mo lang yung mga susunod na instructions after mo maglogin.meron dun security procedure at advise ka magrestart ng pc or router(restart mo router).
5.after doing this, browse again then that’s it.meron ka na internet at nakashare na.
@jun
ok fine.cge na
ixara email mo ko kung okay lang po. uzumakinaruto28@yahoo.com may suggestion po ako sayo:-)
@ all,
