   dont use the cd. follow these steps:
   1. connect the ethernet cable from the smartbro antenna to the WAN/Internet port of the router.
   2. Connect ur PC to one of the Ethernet ports of the router
   3. Make sure that ur PC is set to Dynamic IP (Obtain IP automatically)
   4. On ur Internet browser, type 192.168.1.1, leave username blank and password admin.
   5. On the router’s setup page, set the Internet connection type to Automatic Configuration (DHCP) or Obtain an IP Automatically.
   6. Save the settings.
   7. Check the Status Tab to check if the router was able to get the connection from SmartBro.
   8. If Automatic Configuration (DHCP) didnt work, set the router to Static IP. Take note of the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS 1 and 2 of your PC when its connected directly to SmartBro, then put it on the corresponding fields.

   your router will not be able to login to the smartbro network because of a security feature that smart is using. the mac address of the lan card where smart was originally installed is saved in the setup configuration file of your account in smart’s user database. most linksys routers has a clone cd feature thus get the mac address of said lan card and enter this mac address in the clone cd option of the router configuration. restart and all will be as before.

   I have a 4-port router (D-Link series) for a home LAN. I’m running Win XP Pro. Please follow markeedhey’s advice. For me, I set up the LAN (without internet connection) first - that means plugging the jacks between the router and the PCs. Make sure all drivers are ok and that the LAN (without internet connection) is fine. Finally, that’s when I connected the WAN or the Smartbro connection to the router which distributed the connection. In this connection, check also all the PCs to make sure TCP/IP is set to Obtain IP automatically (the router acts as the DHCP server).

   On the otherhand, if your Smartbro works on your original (single) PC and not using the router. Check to see if you being redirected to the portal website. Log in and follow the steps to configure. (This happens you when reformat your PC or switch to another PC/ LAN) — Just like spiwebnet said.

   One more time since I cannot get it really. I have a D-Link 2640 wireless router and two computers. One i have used to configure the router. Both is connected when i did the configuring. Nag Firefox ako, pasok internet ok. Pag pasok ko naman sa firefox dun s a PC#2 nag re direct sa SmartBro at naputol na yung connection sa PC#1. Pag pasok ko ulit sa PC No. 2 Firefox naputol naman yung connection sa PC#2. Meaning isa lang bang PC ang pwede mag internet sa Smart Bro?

   Kung susundin ko yung i clone yung MAC Address, san ko gagawin yun, sa PC# 1 na gamit ko pag configure ng router o both PC#1 & 2?
   Please help at bwisit na bwisit na ako dito sa martbro, 3 months na akong nagrereklamo puro promise na pupunta di naman pumupunta mga bwisit na ire.

   lfisidro, you could try your making PC1 as a “router” as an alternative, just add another network card on PC1 which makes them two, connect your SmartBRO connection to the 1st lan port on your PC1, then enable Internet Connection Sharing, the 2nd lan card will act as an DHCP server, connect your hub or a crossover cable to the 2nd lan port on your PC and from your HUB or crossover cable connect PC2 or many computers all must be set to obtain IP addresses automatically, make sure you enter the SmartBRO Portal on PC1 to authenticate your connection and start surfing. All PC’s can start surfing

   The only catch here is PC1 must “ON” in order for PC2 or more PC’s to connect to the net.

   This my initial setup:

   “SmartBRO” > PC1+Internet Sharing > Network Hub > All PC’s etc to access the net.

   try this:
   1. go to press start button on XP window then press run…
   2. at the command prompt type:
   ipconfig /release
   3. when the IP release type again:
   ipconfig /renew all

   but i tried it already and the same problem happened. what i want to try is to make my Smart connection as a source.

   i had called the technical support but it say’s they are not responsible for any network connections that we wanted. its up to us to configure and to solve a problem like this. and you know guys they are tooo kind that they even not to give any idea about this. seems like they are not valuing their costumers.

   can anybody help me here….

    Baka naman naka-static na IP address yung PC#2 mo? Dun sa PC2 mo, gamitin mo yung ‘Setup a home or small office network’ Wizard. Sundan mo lang yung instructions. Ganun ginawa ko sa isang kliyente ko.

    hay.. ako rin di ko maconnect tong smartbro sa binili kong router (Dlink-300). Ginawa ko cable from antenna kabit dun sa parang aparato nila na sinasaksak sa power then to router’s WAN port. Ano authentication type ba ginagamit nitong smartbro.. PPPoE? PPTP?.. L2TP?.. Bigpond?.. Ilang beses ko na ginawa to sa DSL and cable connection wala naman problem..

    I just had my Smartbro fixed just this morning… And napaka epal ng tech guy na nagservice samin… i was asking for a favor to configure ung linksys router ko, deadma… as in ipaset-up ko nalang daw sa iba… or baka di lang alam ng ungas na un.. napaka EPAL talaga… buraot naman itsura!     Hi there paka ma tulunagn ninyo ako. na setup ko yung smart at router ko between 3 pc na kakapag internet sila all same time. pero na pansin ko bakit yung ip address an sinasabi ng router (192.168.250.264) ay iba pag chineck ko sa web like “myipaddress.com” 280.60.485.56 ang pinapakita. kaya pag try kong ftp sa pc from outside network ay it wont work kasi iba yung ip address.. can somebaody help me. thanks.. jake

    you can share internet connection by a proxy software… search for CCPROXY in Yahoo Search bar. set the internet configuration to the IP address to where you installed CCPROXY.

    lan ip is the 192.168.x.x

    wan ip is the public ip visible to the internet.

    also.. you need to setup up an ftp server for your system and port forward port 21 in your router..

    but dont mind doing that coz it wont work with smarbro having only 1 public ip add for many users…

    Thank you all for being here to help & share knowledge & experiences.If only we can have this same principle in our govt, we’ll go a long way.
    I guess I’m a little luckier with respect to my SmartBro connection as I have direct line of sight to SmartBro’s St Louis University/Baguio antenna/server (low to moderate use?) and have good connections most of the time.As such, my PC-1 is connected directly to SmartBro with its MAC address probably “embedded” at SmartBro’s servers.This is the first issue I want to resolve.Next off is the Netgear Wireless Router WGR614v9 with its own MAC address that I want to connect directly to SmartBro.Thirdly, I want to connect my new PC-2 and old PC-1 to the wireless router. I realize that connection speed will suffer esp if both PC’s are simultaneously logged in. So, I’ll make PC-1 the frontline, anywhere in the Internet surf mode while my PC-2 will be sparingly connected to the internet for software updates only & secure, private computing.
    What’s the best approach aside from calling SmartBro tech in?….he…he…

    We use Smart Bro too and I use a LinkSys Broadband router to link two separate PCs. Pero I recommend na mag DSL connection na lang kayo if more than 2 PCs ang inenetwork nyo.

    nabasa ko kc na yung ADSL modem/DSL modem o yung modem na pinoprovide ng PLDT. can be sets in 2 mode. either BRIDGE mode or ROUTER mode. pag daw ung IP ng ROUTER mo start with 192.168.x.x. ibig meaning naka router mode ka

    meaning naka bridge mode ka.

    i have done this long before i search for answers in using routers, actually walang router na involve dito just additional lan card for your pc1 (2 lan card, in my case built-in sa board nag-add lang ako ng 1 lan card) and your switch (dito na nakaconnect and 9 na unit ko) and setting up network and internet sharing, actually pa-kapa-kapa nga lang….

    tama si xshirox ang mahirap dito lagi bukas dapat ang pc1 mo kasi dito makikishare ang 9 units ko…. well kung cyber cafe ka at you monitor ang ibang po ok na ganitong set-up….

    question ko lang xshirox, dun sa setup na ginawa natin alin ang mas mabilis: ganung set-up o internet network setup using router? kaya ko lang naman gustong mag-router kasi pede gawing wi-fi zone dia… please enlighten me!

    hey guys, i have 4 pc’s at home. setup ko dati to share the connection is through ICS (internet connection sharing) of Windows XP, and it’s working, ‘yun nga lang kelangan nga naka on lagi yung main pc mo. so i decided to add a router. mine is a TP-Link TL-R402M, probably the cheapest 4-ports router in the market (< Php 1000). no software to install, just do the automatic setup, that’s it! the catch in setting up a router using Smart is make sure you already have a connection via direct pc connection before you transfer the the canopy cable to the router. you’ll be redirected again to the smart portal after connecting to the router. peace.

    Makikisingit lang po…

    The fastest way to connect multiple pc’s on smart bro is to buy a cheap Edimax Router. P1K lang sya.

    Procedure:

    1. Disconnect smartbro from LAN
    2. Connect Edimax Router to PC with original Smartbro connection.
    3. Click start, run, type “cmd”, press enter
    4. Type ipconfig, press enter
    5. Take note of default gateway, usually 192.168.2.1
    6. Open IE, type default gateway number on address bar, press enter
    7. Default user id is “admin” (without quotes), password is “1234″ (without quotes)
    8. Click General Quick Setup
    9. select time zone, the click next
    10. Click cable modem
    11. Click clone macaddress, then ok
    12. Edimax router is now setup
    13. Connect Smartbro to WAN port of router and connect any other pc to Edimax LAN ports.

    Note:
    If you want more than 4 pcs connected then you would have to buy a switch, then connect switch to lan port on router and connect all the other pc’s to the switch.

    I did what Spiwebnet suggested and it really works. I’ve been trying to find ways for my router to share internet connections, until I found this website.

    I have a LinkSys BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router and has a feature called “MAC Address Cloning”, which is the MOST IMPORTANT PART of the router if you’re using SmartBRO. As what Spiwebnet said, the key to a successful internet connection sharing using your router is the MAC ADDRESS OF THE LAN CARD WHERE SMARTBRO IS ORIGINALLY CONNECTED. Probably the SmartBRO crew embedded the MAC address of the LAN card/adapter of the PC where it’s connected to their server database.

    To start things off, let me ask you these questions first:
    1) What PC of yours did you use where SmartBRO is originally connected/installed?

    2-a) Is that PC where SmartBRO is connected/installed has only 1 LAN card or LAN adapter (built-in on most motherboards)?

    2-b) Let’s just say the motherboard of that PC has a built-in LAN adapter while it also has a LAN card(s) installed, which means that PC has 2 or more LAN connections, right? Now, which of those LAN connections did they (the SmartBRO tech crew) connected/installed?

    If you’ve answered those questions, that’s where you will get a MAC Address to be used for cloning on your router. To get it, follow these steps:

    1) Open command prompt by clicking Start–>All Programs–>Accessories–>Command Prompt or by typing “cmd” (don’t include those two doublequotes when typing) on Run Command textbox (Start–>Run)
    2) Once command prompt window is shown, type “getmac” (again, don’t include those two doublequotes). Once done, it will display the “Physical Address” and “Transport Name” in alphanumeric characters (combination of letters and numbers). That “physical address” is the MAC ADDRESS of the LAN card, which has 12 alphanumeric characters divided into 6 groups separated with hyphens. Now, when there are more than 1 LAN connection, say… your PC has a built-in LAN adapted on your motherboard while you have a LAN card installed, it’ll show more than 1 row of physical address and transport name.

    It shows that there are 5 MAC addresses, which means there are 5 LAN connections (probably 5 LAN cards). If your PC has more than 1 LAN connection, write those MAC addresses down (on either a piece of paper, or simply type those on “notepad” located on Start–>All Programs–>Accessories… you decide) for your reference in finding the right MAC address when you’re inside the MAC address setup page (which will be discussed later on). Otherwise, it will show only one LAN connection if your PC uses only one LAN card/adapter.

    Once you wrote down the MAC address seen on the command prompt, you have to type it on the MAC address setup section of your router’s setup page.

    To get inside, open an internet browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) and type “192.168.1.1″ (or a ip address you specified on your router, but in most cases people who owned a router left the default ip address as it is) on the address bar. Don’t know what “address bar” means? It’s where you have to type a website or URL (for example, http://www.yahoo.com).

    Make sure you have to click “Save Settings” when done typing the MAC address.

    If it’s not working, try other MAC adresses that you wrote down. If it’s still not working, maybe the PC where you got the MAC address(es) is not the one where SmartBRO is originally connected/installed. In that case, try getting the mac address of the other PC.

    Hi, Maybe anybody can help me with my problem. I am using Smart Bro, I also have a Dlink Dir-300. Na set-up ko na. Meron nako internet connections, but the problem is most of the time, nawawalan ako.

    I used the cd-rom with he package and just followed the steps. Before doing it, try to reset the router first. Paulitulit din ako then finally nakapag setup na. Make sure to isolate first your internet connection from your old PC.

    I have DIR-300 router. Set up all ur PCs to direct internet connection. Setup to Automatically obtain IP . Connect the
    cable of canopy antenna to the router. I have four PCs connected to the router, all are working with the same speed with that simple set up. If u want to share documents. set up
    mshome follow the guidelines, use flask disk to save the set up. After that run the flask disk to all ur computers. select use the set up I already have when running the set up to other computers. Hope this will help u. It works in me without any problem.

After setting up, ur router will serve as the server (DCPH enable na, meaning automatically detect na IP address mo.) hope it helps.

    kaka-setup ko lang ng 2 pc ko into one data switch (D-Link). ung pc1 ang may original connection sa smartbro. ang ginawa ko kinonect ko silang lahat (pati yung smartbro cable to antenna) sa data switch saka ko sinet-up yung local area connection. nagkakabasahan na yung 2 pc pero yung pc1 pa rin lang ang nakaka-connect sa internet. sinubukan kong i-dynamic yung DHCP nung pc2 tapos nung mag-refresh ako ng Firefox, lumabas yung Smartbro portal (sa pc2 yun). nung in-accept ko yung browser defaults (?) nag-error codename:time.

    habang ginagawa ko yung setup sa pc2, naka-connect yung pc1 sa internet at binabasa ko mga directions sa forum na ‘to. nung i-refresh ko yung firefox ng pc1, nare-direct ako ulit dun sa smart portal. nung in-apply ko na yung username and password ko sa smart portal, nag-error codename: time ulit! ngayon pareho na silang walang connection sa internet.

    pagkatapos nito, pinatay ko muna yung pc2 habang nasa smart portal pa yung pc1. nung ni-refresh ko na yung firefox ng pc1, nakapasok na sya ulit sa internet! ngayon ayaw ko na ulit subukang i-setup yung pc2.

    ano ba talaga dapat ang procedure? baka naman merong pwede magkwento jan nung step-by-step procedure.

    e2 lang ginawa kong procedure when i install DLINK ROUTER 624+A..
    analyze..1 canopy is equal to 1 pc…
    parang iblubluf mo lang yung canopy mo na kunwari isa lang pc nakaconnect sa kanya..ito gagawin mo to connect router using smartbroken..lols..
    **note***every step/changes na ginagaw nyo isave nyo then proceed to next step….
    **kung saan hananapin yung mga changes na gagawin nyo.wag nyo na po ko tanungin.kasi hindi ko din alam..lol.kung meron lang kayong makita na parang same set up then you can follow this steps..

    1. kuhanin nyo mac/physical add ng pc nyo.(isolate wala pang router)
    2. type 192.168.0.1 to adress bar
    3. for security type choose WPA-PS2/WPA2-PSK
    4.dlink router generate its own mac add.ang gagawin nyo.palitan nyo lang yung mac add na kinuha nyo sa pc nyo(step1) then click mac or save then proceed to next step.
    5.after doing that.kapag meron kayong nakitang button or menu about sa DCHP na walang laman like ZERO LAHAT NAKALAGAY that means na NO CONNECTION TALAGA KAYO..hanapin nyo lang yung button na DCHP RELEASE and DCHP RENEW button tapos meron sya dapat magenerate na ip add..para magkameron kayo connection.
    6.experiment your router..hahaha..reminder.palitan nyo lahat ng default password nyo for security purposes and yung backdoor na tinatawag..

    FOR KIKO:
    pagkatapos nito, pinatay ko muna yung pc2 habang nasa smart portal pa yung pc1. nung ni-refresh ko na yung firefox ng pc1, nakapasok na sya ulit sa internet! ngayon ayaw ko na ulit subukang i-setup yung pc2.
    **remember 1 canopy is equal to 1pc..nasetup mo nga yung router mo pero ang nagassign na mac add mo is yung router..dapat isa lang ang mac add ng pc1 at pc2 mo at yun ang papalitan mo at iaasign mo sa router mo…

    for those having problem with using two pc at the same time in the net like “KIKO”

    do this:

    1. before you set up ur router go to smart bro portal
    2. log in
    3. click addconnection
    4. provide username and password *note your username should be different to the one you use in smart bro,
    5. provide the information needed by the page*note plss at least do not use same info you provide on your first smart bro account
    6. when done, refresh your IE. then try to open using firefox

    Hi, I have a Dlink wifi router. At first I was able to connect to the internet using my wifi router where the smartbro cable has been attached. But my problem is, when I use skype messenger to make an outgoing call to the US or supposedly to receive incoming call from US, it only lasts for 15 seconds then gets disconnected. However, when I am directly connected to smartbro without the use of my wifi router, it allows to call outside or receive calls from US. What do you think would be the problem here. I have another friend who uses another wifi router but everything works perfectly fine so I am wondering what’s the difference that blocks me from having such feature.

    copy the pc’s mac address
    paste it over the wan mac address

    kakabili ko lang po ng dlink dir-300 router. ginamit ko for my smartbro plan999. I installed it using the setup disc at ok nman sya, kaso 1day ko lang nagamit. hindi na ako mkaconnect sa smartbro kahit wired directly sa antenna yung laptop ko. ilang beses na ako tumawag sa tech support, sabi nila wala nman daw problema sa antenna ko. sabi nila os daw. i tried using xp, vista, ubuntu hardy herron, atbp. pero hindi nman talaga doon ang problema. i think binablock ng dhcp server nila yung connection ko… patulong nman po bka may alam kayo na solution. thanks.

    very simple how to use smartbro internet using 2 pc’s or more… but take note more than two pc’s, possible disconnected to limited connectivity… i am using Dlink DIR 300

    go to http://192.168.0.1- defalut ip ng router

    log in: admin

    pass: wala

    internet set up

    dynamic ip yung smart bro e.g. 192.168.250.243
    subnet 255.255.224.0
    gateway 192.168.224.1
    dns1 121.1.3.208
    dns2 121.1.3.250

    sa lan set up, make sure na yung ip address niyo is within 192.168.0.1 gateway ito ng router niyo

    tapos bawat pc niyo na ikakabit is 192.168.0.100 to 199

    this is for DIR 300

    save settings, tapos isang pc ang magcoconfigure sa portal ng smartbro para mareactivate yung koneksyon niyo in case na ilagay niyo sa router yung PoE canopy ng smarbtro… enjoy using internet by 2 or more

    if kung bago naman router niyo of any kind, follow instructions carefully (magbasa kayo ng manual) then plug all the slots of your lan and wan (canopy)

    plug in router

    go directly to portal ng smartbro and reactivate it… madedetek kasi na may ibang hardware ang connection niyo…

    makatulong sana kahit ayoko na sa lintek na ito…

    mga tol, baka sakaling hindi nyo pa na fix yung problema sa pictures pag nagbukas kayo ng friendster atbp pag nka wifi…

    wag na kayo gumamit ng proxy kagaya ng vtunnel, hindi yun ang solution sa problema nyo.

    ayon sa google, madali lang solution dyan, puntahan nyo lang yung TCP/IP properties tapos palitan nyo DNS settings.

    Gamitin nyo itong mga server addresses na ito:

    preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222
    alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220

    tested ko yan, pahero kasi tayo ng problema dati.

     to put passwords sa connection niyo para di maaccess ng kapitbahay, you have to open the portal of your router,

     im using Tp-Link

     192.168.1.1

     username & password: admin

     the open “Wireless Setting” under “Wireless Menu”
     then Enable Wireless security

     pick kung WAP/WEP type ng encryption gusto mo.

     set a password, and you’re done.

     im not sure with the configurations of other routers.

     Mine is NETGEAR router. Minsan nawawala din ang connection sa PC1. Kaya ginawa ko as per instruction of the router manual, ay in-off ko ang modem at router at power off the computer (PC1). Then, I plugged on the power of the modem and wait for 2 minutes, afterwards plugged the router wait for 1 minute. Thereafter, plug on the computer. Fortunately, i restore the connection. Try this and this may help. I don’t know myself if this is the correct solution but it works for me.

     dami pala problema dito about router, try lang ako baka may mag share pa ng ibang idea. pero dito sa office namin ok naman ung connection, 3 pc naka connect sa router na kinabit ko, DI-604 D-Link ang gamit namin ok naman connection at speed nya, pero d naman namin ginagamit sa gaming, browsing lang sa net. ewan ko lang sa iba ung gusto eh gaming!

     to dio,

     if ur service provider is smartbro so u don’t have a problem setting it up with ur d-link router. first thing to do is to go to setup wizard on ur first computer and follow the setup process to give ur pc01 a name and a description. at the end don’t forget to checked “just finish the wizard” then go to the second pc02 and do what u did with pc01 and also checked “just finish the wizard” don’t forget to give a diffrent name to each pc ok? then go to the network connection and checked “obtain an ip automatically” and also to the second pc. then connect them both to ur router lan 1 % lan 2. connect smartbro to the WAN of ur router then turn on ur router. ur router default setting is already DHCP so there’s no problem and also ur smartbro is DHCP connection. then restart ur two pc. i’m they will automatically get ur smartbro connection. good luck.

     Alam ninyo mali ang ginagawa ninyo sa SET up ng Smartbro LAN –> Linksys Router or D - Links — di na kailangan na i enter ang cd or ipasok ang ang ip address sa router —

     2. ilagay ang LAN cable sa port ng router naman 1,2,3,4 alin man dito

     Possible that the mac address of yer mate’s laptop is what’s registered on the modem that’s why u cant go online on yours. I recommend that you buy a router so both of u can access net at the same time. En go for a wireless router if yer laptops are wifi ready. All u need to do is use yer mate’s laptop to clone the mac address to the router. I recommend u access the setup page of the router rather than running the cd. It’s easier, I swear. If you still can’t connect to the internet you may try calling tech support hotline for the router xe sometimes their new router has issues en needs either a firmware upgrade or downgrade. Hope this helps. ;p

     Hope I’m not too late. There are lots of limitations using ICS. Router is more manageable en it’s just a few bucks more than a switch. Router offers better security plus added features.

     wEn, your router model is already discontinued. If it’s new, you can still probably have it replaced but that’s your choice. But instead of using a hub, once again return it to the store and exchange it with a switch. Because a hub does not manage traffic like a switch does. You can probably just get an 8-port switch for 9pc or better yet 16-port so yo can add more computers. Setting up is the easiest part. You just need the right device.

     una talaga sinaksak ko yung cd at sinundan ko lahat ng kabalbalan niya then nagbasa lang ako dito at wala ako makuhang maganda tip kaya ginawa ko lang is habang nakasaksak yung mga cable sa dapat na sinasaksakan nila is nireset ko yung router [may maliit na butas sa likod at sundutin niyo lang ng matagal.. sa akin nga 20secs pero sabi kahit 10secs lang daw ayos na buto buto..] magrerestart yung router..

     tapos ng restart of router, open ko browser ko at ayun, smartbro portal na.. hihi!

     about sa http://192.168.0.1 na iyan eh yung default daw is Admin pero ako nakailang type na pero wala.. hindi.. ayaw.. ay makakapatay ako.. pero try ko admin at doon naman gumana?! naisip ko isang letra lang naman malaki ah?! sooz.. tapos iyun doon niyo ayusin na kung anu dapat niyong ayusin.. psp at laptop ko nakakaconnect na sa net.. hehe!

     Grabee its easy pala to set-up smart bro using the Dlink Dir300 wifi router.

     Just make sure that you don’t use the set-up CD which came with it. Unplug the Smart lan cable on the orig PC. Then plug the router using on one of its LAN port via a LAN cable to the network card of the original PC where the Smart bro was configured.

     Then go to IP address 192.168.0.1 which is the default IP of the router so you can access it settings. Then change the default username and password and save the settings.

     Next on the 1st tab, named “Setup” Click on the manual “Internet Connection Setup”. For the internet connection type choose DHCP. Then at the bottom which says DHCP Connection type. Click on the “Clone MAC adress” so that the MAC ID of the orig PC will be used by the router so as to prevent the disturbing SMART log-in screen from appearing should you use the router. Click on “save Settings”.

     Reboot the router and log out. Now connect the Smart Lan cable on the router’s WAn port. Add more PCs on the router’s Lan port and test your connection by using 2 PCs simultaneously.

     That’s it!

     Of course, the smart bro antenna will not be able to send/receive data and thus it cannot be detected by your router if its not powered on. Always make sure that the Smart power adapter which powers the Smart canopy is always plugged in so that the router can detect it.

     There are routers with USB ports where in you can use a 3G/HSDPA modem such as the Smart Bro prepaid and the likes to be shared over the network. However, it will be more expensive and not widely available in stores. I saw it as advertised on the local magazine “PC Buyer’s Guide” September 2008 edition.

     Patulong naman po.. We were able to connect 2 computers dito sa bahay.. Yung old laptop yung parang server connected through LAN.. then yung isa pang laptop nakaconnect through WLAN.. Pero nung nagdagdag pa kami nung isang laptop, nadedetect niya yung signal pero di makaconnect.. Same thing with the PSP.. It was able to detect the signal but always come up with an error like this, “A connection error has occured. A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the network and try again.” Di naman encrypted yung connection namin dito sa bahay..Could it be yung router or yung internet connection namin? We are using Loopcomm LP-8186 and Smart Bro plan 999. Please help.. And how do i port forward the router so I’ll be able to seed in uTorrent? This is my email add humanimate_12@hotmail.com ..      help me please.. we have 3 PCs here in the house using one smartbro connection and we have a surecom 4904sx 4 ports router but then when smart terminated our smartbro connection for 3 days (some bills matter), then we pay our bills the problem started here when i tried to use the internet it says limited or no connectivity, but when i direct the cable to one of our PC the internet is OK… i manage to think that i need to reconfigure the router but another problem pops up.. i cant get through my routers configuration.. i know the default IP is 192.168.1.1 (correct me if im wrong).. i dont know what to do now..please somebody help me…. thanks

     Most likely the problem lies with your wifi router. Check your manual for proper configuration.

     To check if its Smart bro’s problem then connect the original PC where it was configured originally. If it has no problems then you can surf.

     Why use utorrent in downloading with Smart Bro when you can manage it easily with Bitlord torrent downloader. I always get a 450-500 kbps download speed with Smart Bro. So a 350 MB episode file will be finished in 2 hrs 30 mins tops.

     first tym kong bumili at gumamit ng wireless router (DLINK dir-300) nakakakonek ang laptop ko sa router at kitang kita sa ko sa network connection ko ang packet send at recieve nya pero ang problema ay pag nag browse ako sa mozilla hindi ako makakonek… tumawag ako sa smartbro at ang sabi nila maganda ang signal ko at nung magpatulong ako kung paano isetup ang nabili kong router ang sagot sakin ay hnd na raw nila sakop ung pag setup ng router… kung meron man sa inyo ang nakakaalam kung paano isetup ang dir-300 magpost lang kayo, ngayon pa lng nagpapasalamat na ako!

     zairo, try to check if it works w/ IE because if it does then it’s a firefox setting problem. if it doesn’t, hard wire your laptop to the router, if it works fine when it’s wired then the wireless part has to be fixed. try to connect w/o encryption or mac filter. if it works then try encryption. if there’s still problems, upgrade ur router’s firmware but read the update notes first. let me know what happens.

     ngayon gumagana na ang dlink dir-300 router ko… gamit ko ngayon ang 2 pc ng sabay laptop at desktop…
     sinunod ko ung sinabi mo @ imman… nung una kc hnd ko na unplug ang mga saksakan ng smartbro antenna ko at ung saksakan ng dir300 kaya cguro hnd marefresh.

     mga nagkakaproblema dyan sa dlink dir 300 basahin nyo nalang to:
     
     1. Place the router in an open and central location. Do not plug the power adapter into the router.
     2. Turn the power off on your modem. If there is no on/off switch, then unplug the modem’s power adapter. Shut down your computer.
     3. Unplug the Ethernet cable (that connects your computer to your modem) from your computer and place it into the WAN port on the router.
     4. Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the four LAN ports on the router. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port on your computer.
     5. Turn on or plug in your modem. Wait for the modem to boot (about 30 seconds).
     6. Plug the power adapter to the router and connect to an outlet or power strip. Wait about 30 seconds for the router to boot.
     7. Turn on your computer.
     8. Verify the link lights on the router. The power light, WAN light, and the LAN light (the port that your computer is plugged into) should be lit. If not, make sure your computer, modem, and router are powered on and verify the cable connections are correct.
     9. Skip to page 14 to configure your router.

     hi, i was browsing through the internet coz i was also having a hard time with this smart bro and my router and hopin i could find answers to my problems then i came across this forum, i want to connect 4 pc but then ung sabi lng cannot connect to the internet. ung set up ko goes like this - smartbro cable->>router->>pc1.. idk wuts the problem since i followed nman the instructions, ugh! hopin to hear from you guys! thank you!

     FOR THOSE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THEIR DLINK DIR 300 WITH SMART BRO: I already posted these steps above b ut those who are lazy to read through the whole page then here it is.

     Just make sure that you don’t use the set-up CD which came with it. Unplug the Smart lan cable on the orig PC. Then plug the router using on one of its LAN port via a LAN cable to the network card of the original PC where the Smart bro was configured.

     Then go to IP address 192.168.0.1 which is the default IP of the router so you can access it settings. Then change the default username and password and save the settings.

     Next on the 1st tab, named “Setup” Click on the manual “Internet Connection Setup”. For the internet connection type choose DHCP. Then at the bottom which says DHCP Connection type. Click on the “Clone MAC adress” so that the MAC ID of the orig PC will be used by the router so as to prevent the disturbing SMART log-in screen from appearing should you use the router. Click on “save Settings”.

     Reboot the router and log out. Now connect the Smart Lan cable on the router’s WAn port. Add more PCs on the router’s Lan port and test your connection by using 2 PCs simultaneously.

     That’s it!

     hi guys! im using a laptop with smartbro connection. i want to share it wid my other sis with a laptop too. wat should i buy then? a router or lan card?

     help me!! also with the configuration. thanks!
