   dont use the cd. follow these steps:
   1. connect the ethernet cable from the smartbro antenna to the WAN/Internet port of the router.
   2. Connect ur PC to one of the Ethernet ports of the router
   3. Make sure that ur PC is set to Dynamic IP (Obtain IP automatically)
   4. On ur Internet browser, type 192.168.1.1, leave username blank and password admin.
   5. On the router’s setup page, set the Internet connection type to Automatic Configuration (DHCP) or Obtain an IP Automatically.
   6. Save the settings.
   7. Check the Status Tab to check if the router was able to get the connection from SmartBro.
   8. If Automatic Configuration (DHCP) didnt work, set the router to Static IP. Take note of the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS 1 and 2 of your PC when its connected directly to SmartBro, then put it on the corresponding fields.

   your router will not be able to login to the smartbro network because of a security feature that smart is using. the mac address of the lan card where smart was originally installed is saved in the setup configuration file of your account in smart’s user database. most linksys routers has a clone cd feature thus get the mac address of said lan card and enter this mac address in the clone cd option of the router configuration. restart and all will be as before.

   I have a 4-port router (D-Link series) for a home LAN. I’m running Win XP Pro. Please follow markeedhey’s advice. For me, I set up the LAN (without internet connection) first - that means plugging the jacks between the router and the PCs. Make sure all drivers are ok and that the LAN (without internet connection) is fine. Finally, that’s when I connected the WAN or the Smartbro connection to the router which distributed the connection. In this connection, check also all the PCs to make sure TCP/IP is set to Obtain IP automatically (the router acts as the DHCP server).

   On the otherhand, if your Smartbro works on your original (single) PC and not using the router. Check to see if you being redirected to the portal website. Log in and follow the steps to configure. (This happens you when reformat your PC or switch to another PC/ LAN) — Just like spiwebnet said.

   One more time since I cannot get it really. I have a D-Link 2640 wireless router and two computers. One i have used to configure the router. Both is connected when i did the configuring. Nag Firefox ako, pasok internet ok. Pag pasok ko naman sa firefox dun s a PC#2 nag re direct sa SmartBro at naputol na yung connection sa PC#1. Pag pasok ko ulit sa PC No. 2 Firefox naputol naman yung connection sa PC#2. Meaning isa lang bang PC ang pwede mag internet sa Smart Bro?

   Kung susundin ko yung i clone yung MAC Address, san ko gagawin yun, sa PC# 1 na gamit ko pag configure ng router o both PC#1 & 2?
   Please help at bwisit na bwisit na ako dito sa martbro, 3 months na akong nagrereklamo puro promise na pupunta di naman pumupunta mga bwisit na ire.

   lfisidro, you could try your making PC1 as a “router” as an alternative, just add another network card on PC1 which makes them two, connect your SmartBRO connection to the 1st lan port on your PC1, then enable Internet Connection Sharing, the 2nd lan card will act as an DHCP server, connect your hub or a crossover cable to the 2nd lan port on your PC and from your HUB or crossover cable connect PC2 or many computers all must be set to obtain IP addresses automatically, make sure you enter the SmartBRO Portal on PC1 to authenticate your connection and start surfing. All PC’s can start surfing

   The only catch here is PC1 must “ON” in order for PC2 or more PC’s to connect to the net.

   This my initial setup:

   “SmartBRO” > PC1+Internet Sharing > Network Hub > All PC’s etc to access the net.

   try this:
   1. go to press start button on XP window then press run…
   2. at the command prompt type:
   ipconfig /release
   3. when the IP release type again:
   ipconfig /renew all

   but i tried it already and the same problem happened. what i want to try is to make my Smart connection as a source.

   i had called the technical support but it say’s they are not responsible for any network connections that we wanted. its up to us to configure and to solve a problem like this. and you know guys they are tooo kind that they even not to give any idea about this. seems like they are not valuing their costumers.

   can anybody help me here….

    Baka naman naka-static na IP address yung PC#2 mo? Dun sa PC2 mo, gamitin mo yung ‘Setup a home or small office network’ Wizard. Sundan mo lang yung instructions. Ganun ginawa ko sa isang kliyente ko.

    hay.. ako rin di ko maconnect tong smartbro sa binili kong router (Dlink-300). Ginawa ko cable from antenna kabit dun sa parang aparato nila na sinasaksak sa power then to router’s WAN port. Ano authentication type ba ginagamit nitong smartbro.. PPPoE? PPTP?.. L2TP?.. Bigpond?.. Ilang beses ko na ginawa to sa DSL and cable connection wala naman problem..

    I just had my Smartbro fixed just this morning… And napaka epal ng tech guy na nagservice samin… i was asking for a favor to configure ung linksys router ko, deadma… as in ipaset-up ko nalang daw sa iba… or baka di lang alam ng ungas na un.. napaka EPAL talaga… buraot naman itsura!     Hi there paka ma tulunagn ninyo ako. na setup ko yung smart at router ko between 3 pc na kakapag internet sila all same time. pero na pansin ko bakit yung ip address an sinasabi ng router (192.168.250.264) ay iba pag chineck ko sa web like “myipaddress.com” 280.60.485.56 ang pinapakita. kaya pag try kong ftp sa pc from outside network ay it wont work kasi iba yung ip address.. can somebaody help me. thanks.. jake

    you can share internet connection by a proxy software… search for CCPROXY in Yahoo Search bar. set the internet configuration to the IP address to where you installed CCPROXY.

    lan ip is the 192.168.x.x

    wan ip is the public ip visible to the internet.

    also.. you need to setup up an ftp server for your system and port forward port 21 in your router..

    but dont mind doing that coz it wont work with smarbro having only 1 public ip add for many users…

    Thank you all for being here to help & share knowledge & experiences.If only we can have this same principle in our govt, we’ll go a long way.
    I guess I’m a little luckier with respect to my SmartBro connection as I have direct line of sight to SmartBro’s St Louis University/Baguio antenna/server (low to moderate use?) and have good connections most of the time.As such, my PC-1 is connected directly to SmartBro with its MAC address probably “embedded” at SmartBro’s servers.This is the first issue I want to resolve.Next off is the Netgear Wireless Router WGR614v9 with its own MAC address that I want to connect directly to SmartBro.Thirdly, I want to connect my new PC-2 and old PC-1 to the wireless router. I realize that connection speed will suffer esp if both PC’s are simultaneously logged in. So, I’ll make PC-1 the frontline, anywhere in the Internet surf mode while my PC-2 will be sparingly connected to the internet for software updates only & secure, private computing.
    What’s the best approach aside from calling SmartBro tech in?….he…he…

    We use Smart Bro too and I use a LinkSys Broadband router to link two separate PCs. Pero I recommend na mag DSL connection na lang kayo if more than 2 PCs ang inenetwork nyo.

    nabasa ko kc na yung ADSL modem/DSL modem o yung modem na pinoprovide ng PLDT. can be sets in 2 mode. either BRIDGE mode or ROUTER mode. pag daw ung IP ng ROUTER mo start with 192.168.x.x. ibig meaning naka router mode ka

    meaning naka bridge mode ka.

    i have done this long before i search for answers in using routers, actually walang router na involve dito just additional lan card for your pc1 (2 lan card, in my case built-in sa board nag-add lang ako ng 1 lan card) and your switch (dito na nakaconnect and 9 na unit ko) and setting up network and internet sharing, actually pa-kapa-kapa nga lang….

    tama si xshirox ang mahirap dito lagi bukas dapat ang pc1 mo kasi dito makikishare ang 9 units ko…. well kung cyber cafe ka at you monitor ang ibang po ok na ganitong set-up….

    question ko lang xshirox, dun sa setup na ginawa natin alin ang mas mabilis: ganung set-up o internet network setup using router? kaya ko lang naman gustong mag-router kasi pede gawing wi-fi zone dia… please enlighten me!

    hey guys, i have 4 pc’s at home. setup ko dati to share the connection is through ICS (internet connection sharing) of Windows XP, and it’s working, ‘yun nga lang kelangan nga naka on lagi yung main pc mo. so i decided to add a router. mine is a TP-Link TL-R402M, probably the cheapest 4-ports router in the market (< Php 1000). no software to install, just do the automatic setup, that’s it! the catch in setting up a router using Smart is make sure you already have a connection via direct pc connection before you transfer the the canopy cable to the router. you’ll be redirected again to the smart portal after connecting to the router. peace.

    Makikisingit lang po…

    The fastest way to connect multiple pc’s on smart bro is to buy a cheap Edimax Router. P1K lang sya.

    Procedure:

    1. Disconnect smartbro from LAN
    2. Connect Edimax Router to PC with original Smartbro connection.
    3. Click start, run, type “cmd”, press enter
    4. Type ipconfig, press enter
    5. Take note of default gateway, usually 192.168.2.1
    6. Open IE, type default gateway number on address bar, press enter
    7. Default user id is “admin” (without quotes), password is “1234″ (without quotes)
    8. Click General Quick Setup
    9. select time zone, the click next
    10. Click cable modem
    11. Click clone macaddress, then ok
    12. Edimax router is now setup
    13. Connect Smartbro to WAN port of router and connect any other pc to Edimax LAN ports.

    Note:
    If you want more than 4 pcs connected then you would have to buy a switch, then connect switch to lan port on router and connect all the other pc’s to the switch.

    I did what Spiwebnet suggested and it really works. I’ve been trying to find ways for my router to share internet connections, until I found this website.

    I have a LinkSys BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router and has a feature called “MAC Address Cloning”, which is the MOST IMPORTANT PART of the router if you’re using SmartBRO. As what Spiwebnet said, the key to a successful internet connection sharing using your router is the MAC ADDRESS OF THE LAN CARD WHERE SMARTBRO IS ORIGINALLY CONNECTED. Probably the SmartBRO crew embedded the MAC address of the LAN card/adapter of the PC where it’s connected to their server database.

    To start things off, let me ask you these questions first:
    1) What PC of yours did you use where SmartBRO is originally connected/installed?

    2-a) Is that PC where SmartBRO is connected/installed has only 1 LAN card or LAN adapter (built-in on most motherboards)?

    2-b) Let’s just say the motherboard of that PC has a built-in LAN adapter while it also has a LAN card(s) installed, which means that PC has 2 or more LAN connections, right? Now, which of those LAN connections did they (the SmartBRO tech crew) connected/installed?

    If you’ve answered those questions, that’s where you will get a MAC Address to be used for cloning on your router. To get it, follow these steps:

    1) Open command prompt by clicking Start–>All Programs–>Accessories–>Command Prompt or by typing “cmd” (don’t include those two doublequotes when typing) on Run Command textbox (Start–>Run)
    2) Once command prompt window is shown, type “getmac” (again, don’t include those two doublequotes). Once done, it will display the “Physical Address” and “Transport Name” in alphanumeric characters (combination of letters and numbers). That “physical address” is the MAC ADDRESS of the LAN card, which has 12 alphanumeric characters divided into 6 groups separated with hyphens. Now, when there are more than 1 LAN connection, say… your PC has a built-in LAN adapted on your motherboard while you have a LAN card installed, it’ll show more than 1 row of physical address and transport name.

    It shows that there are 5 MAC addresses, which means there are 5 LAN connections (probably 5 LAN cards). If your PC has more than 1 LAN connection, write those MAC addresses down (on either a piece of paper, or simply type those on “notepad” located on Start–>All Programs–>Accessories… you decide) for your reference in finding the right MAC address when you’re inside the MAC address setup page (which will be discussed later on). Otherwise, it will show only one LAN connection if your PC uses only one LAN card/adapter.

    Once you wrote down the MAC address seen on the command prompt, you have to type it on the MAC address setup section of your router’s setup page.

    To get inside, open an internet browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) and type “192.168.1.1″ (or a ip address you specified on your router, but in most cases people who owned a router left the default ip address as it is) on the address bar. Don’t know what “address bar” means? It’s where you have to type a website or URL (for example, http://www.yahoo.com).

    Make sure you have to click “Save Settings” when done typing the MAC address.

    If it’s not working, try other MAC adresses that you wrote down. If it’s still not working, maybe the PC where you got the MAC address(es) is not the one where SmartBRO is originally connected/installed. In that case, try getting the mac address of the other PC.

    Hi, Maybe anybody can help me with my problem. I am using Smart Bro, I also have a Dlink Dir-300. Na set-up ko na. Meron nako internet connections, but the problem is most of the time, nawawalan ako.

    I used the cd-rom with he package and just followed the steps. Before doing it, try to reset the router first. Paulitulit din ako then finally nakapag setup na. Make sure to isolate first your internet connection from your old PC.

    I have DIR-300 router. Set up all ur PCs to direct internet connection. Setup to Automatically obtain IP . Connect the
    cable of canopy antenna to the router. I have four PCs connected to the router, all are working with the same speed with that simple set up. If u want to share documents. set up
    mshome follow the guidelines, use flask disk to save the set up. After that run the flask disk to all ur computers. select use the set up I already have when running the set up to other computers. Hope this will help u. It works in me without any problem.

After setting up, ur router will serve as the server (DCPH enable na, meaning automatically detect na IP address mo.) hope it helps.

    kaka-setup ko lang ng 2 pc ko into one data switch (D-Link). ung pc1 ang may original connection sa smartbro. ang ginawa ko kinonect ko silang lahat (pati yung smartbro cable to antenna) sa data switch saka ko sinet-up yung local area connection. nagkakabasahan na yung 2 pc pero yung pc1 pa rin lang ang nakaka-connect sa internet. sinubukan kong i-dynamic yung DHCP nung pc2 tapos nung mag-refresh ako ng Firefox, lumabas yung Smartbro portal (sa pc2 yun). nung in-accept ko yung browser defaults (?) nag-error codename:time.

    habang ginagawa ko yung setup sa pc2, naka-connect yung pc1 sa internet at binabasa ko mga directions sa forum na ‘to. nung i-refresh ko yung firefox ng pc1, nare-direct ako ulit dun sa smart portal. nung in-apply ko na yung username and password ko sa smart portal, nag-error codename: time ulit! ngayon pareho na silang walang connection sa internet.

    pagkatapos nito, pinatay ko muna yung pc2 habang nasa smart portal pa yung pc1. nung ni-refresh ko na yung firefox ng pc1, nakapasok na sya ulit sa internet! ngayon ayaw ko na ulit subukang i-setup yung pc2.

    ano ba talaga dapat ang procedure? baka naman merong pwede magkwento jan nung step-by-step procedure.

    e2 lang ginawa kong procedure when i install DLINK ROUTER 624+A..
    analyze..1 canopy is equal to 1 pc…
    parang iblubluf mo lang yung canopy mo na kunwari isa lang pc nakaconnect sa kanya..ito gagawin mo to connect router using smartbroken..lols..
    **note***every step/changes na ginagaw nyo isave nyo then proceed to next step….
    **kung saan hananapin yung mga changes na gagawin nyo.wag nyo na po ko tanungin.kasi hindi ko din alam..lol.kung meron lang kayong makita na parang same set up then you can follow this steps..

    1. kuhanin nyo mac/physical add ng pc nyo.(isolate wala pang router)
    2. type 192.168.0.1 to adress bar
    3. for security type choose WPA-PS2/WPA2-PSK
    4.dlink router generate its own mac add.ang gagawin nyo.palitan nyo lang yung mac add na kinuha nyo sa pc nyo(step1) then click mac or save then proceed to next step.
    5.after doing that.kapag meron kayong nakitang button or menu about sa DCHP na walang laman like ZERO LAHAT NAKALAGAY that means na NO CONNECTION TALAGA KAYO..hanapin nyo lang yung button na DCHP RELEASE and DCHP RENEW button tapos meron sya dapat magenerate na ip add..para magkameron kayo connection.
    6.experiment your router..hahaha..reminder.palitan nyo lahat ng default password nyo for security purposes and yung backdoor na tinatawag..

    FOR KIKO:
    pagkatapos nito, pinatay ko muna yung pc2 habang nasa smart portal pa yung pc1. nung ni-refresh ko na yung firefox ng pc1, nakapasok na sya ulit sa internet! ngayon ayaw ko na ulit subukang i-setup yung pc2.
    **remember 1 canopy is equal to 1pc..nasetup mo nga yung router mo pero ang nagassign na mac add mo is yung router..dapat isa lang ang mac add ng pc1 at pc2 mo at yun ang papalitan mo at iaasign mo sa router mo…

    do this:

    1. before you set up ur router go to smart bro portal
    2. log in
    3. click addconnection
    4. provide username and password *note your username should be different to the one you use in smart bro,
    5. provide the information needed by the page*note plss at least do not use same info you provide on your first smart bro account
    6. when done, refresh your IE. then try to open using firefox

    Hi, I have a Dlink wifi router. At first I was able to connect to the internet using my wifi router where the smartbro cable has been attached. But my problem is, when I use skype messenger to make an outgoing call to the US or supposedly to receive incoming call from US, it only lasts for 15 seconds then gets disconnected. However, when I am directly connected to smartbro without the use of my wifi router, it allows to call outside or receive calls from US. What do you think would be the problem here. I have another friend who uses another wifi router but everything works perfectly fine so I am wondering what’s the difference that blocks me from having such feature.

    copy the pc’s mac address
    paste it over the wan mac address

    * i had same problem during after many trial and error.. so far i have no problem with the connection using that procedure i did.

    kakabili ko lang po ng dlink dir-300 router. ginamit ko for my smartbro plan999. I installed it using the setup disc at ok nman sya, kaso 1day ko lang nagamit. hindi na ako mkaconnect sa smartbro kahit wired directly sa antenna yung laptop ko. ilang beses na ako tumawag sa tech support, sabi nila wala nman daw problema sa antenna ko. sabi nila os daw. i tried using xp, vista, ubuntu hardy herron, atbp. pero hindi nman talaga doon ang problema. i think binablock ng dhcp server nila yung connection ko… patulong nman po bka may alam kayo na solution. thanks.

    very simple how to use smartbro internet using 2 pc’s or more… but take note more than two pc’s, possible disconnected to limited connectivity… i am using Dlink DIR 300

    go to http://192.168.0.1- defalut ip ng router

    log in: admin

    pass: wala

    internet set up

    dynamic ip yung smart bro e.g. 192.168.250.243
    subnet 255.255.224.0
    gateway 192.168.224.1
    dns1 121.1.3.208
    dns2 121.1.3.250

    sa lan set up, make sure na yung ip address niyo is within 192.168.0.1 gateway ito ng router niyo

    tapos bawat pc niyo na ikakabit is 192.168.0.100 to 199

    this is for DIR 300

    save settings, tapos isang pc ang magcoconfigure sa portal ng smartbro para mareactivate yung koneksyon niyo in case na ilagay niyo sa router yung PoE canopy ng smarbtro… enjoy using internet by 2 or more

    if kung bago naman router niyo of any kind, follow instructions carefully (magbasa kayo ng manual) then plug all the slots of your lan and wan (canopy)

    plug in router

    go directly to portal ng smartbro and reactivate it… madedetek kasi na may ibang hardware ang connection niyo…

    makatulong sana kahit ayoko na sa lintek na ito…

    mga tol, baka sakaling hindi nyo pa na fix yung problema sa pictures pag nagbukas kayo ng friendster atbp pag nka wifi…

    wag na kayo gumamit ng proxy kagaya ng vtunnel, hindi yun ang solution sa problema nyo.

    ayon sa google, madali lang solution dyan, puntahan nyo lang yung TCP/IP properties tapos palitan nyo DNS settings.

    Gamitin nyo itong mga server addresses na ito:

    preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222
    alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220

    tested ko yan, pahero kasi tayo ng problema dati.

     to put passwords sa connection niyo para di maaccess ng kapitbahay, you have to open the portal of your router,

     im using Tp-Link

     192.168.1.1

     username & password: admin

     the open “Wireless Setting” under “Wireless Menu”
     then Enable Wireless security

     pick kung WAP/WEP type ng encryption gusto mo.

     set a password, and you’re done.

     im not sure with the configurations of other routers.

     Mine is NETGEAR router. Minsan nawawala din ang connection sa PC1. Kaya ginawa ko as per instruction of the router manual, ay in-off ko ang modem at router at power off the computer (PC1). Then, I plugged on the power of the modem and wait for 2 minutes, afterwards plugged the router wait for 1 minute. Thereafter, plug on the computer. Fortunately, i restore the connection. Try this and this may help. I don’t know myself if this is the correct solution but it works for me.

     dami pala problema dito about router, try lang ako baka may mag share pa ng ibang idea. pero dito sa office namin ok naman ung connection, 3 pc naka connect sa router na kinabit ko, DI-604 D-Link ang gamit namin ok naman connection at speed nya, pero d naman namin ginagamit sa gaming, browsing lang sa net. ewan ko lang sa iba ung gusto eh gaming!

     to dio,

     if ur service provider is smartbro so u don’t have a problem setting it up with ur d-link router. first thing to do is to go to setup wizard on ur first computer and follow the setup process to give ur pc01 a name and a description. at the end don’t forget to checked “just finish the wizard” then go to the second pc02 and do what u did with pc01 and also checked “just finish the wizard” don’t forget to give a diffrent name to each pc ok? then go to the network connection and checked “obtain an ip automatically” and also to the second pc. then connect them both to ur router lan 1 % lan 2. connect smartbro to the WAN of ur router then turn on ur router. ur router default setting is already DHCP so there’s no problem and also ur smartbro is DHCP connection. then restart ur two pc. i’m they will automatically get ur smartbro connection. good luck.

     Alam ninyo mali ang ginagawa ninyo sa SET up ng Smartbro LAN –> Linksys Router or D - Links — di na kailangan na i enter ang cd or ipasok ang ang ip address sa router —

     2. ilagay ang LAN cable sa port ng router naman 1,2,3,4 alin man dito

     Possible that the mac address of yer mate’s laptop is what’s registered on the modem that’s why u cant go online on yours. I recommend that you buy a router so both of u can access net at the same time. En go for a wireless router if yer laptops are wifi ready. All u need to do is use yer mate’s laptop to clone the mac address to the router. I recommend u access the setup page of the router rather than running the cd. It’s easier, I swear. If you still can’t connect to the internet you may try calling tech support hotline for the router xe sometimes their new router has issues en needs either a firmware upgrade or downgrade. Hope this helps. ;p

     Hope I’m not too late. There are lots of limitations using ICS. Router is more manageable en it’s just a few bucks more than a switch. Router offers better security plus added features.

     wEn, your router model is already discontinued. If it’s new, you can still probably have it replaced but that’s your choice. But instead of using a hub, once again return it to the store and exchange it with a switch. Because a hub does not manage traffic like a switch does. You can probably just get an 8-port switch for 9pc or better yet 16-port so yo can add more computers. Setting up is the easiest part. You just need the right device.

     una talaga sinaksak ko yung cd at sinundan ko lahat ng kabalbalan niya then nagbasa lang ako dito at wala ako makuhang maganda tip kaya ginawa ko lang is habang nakasaksak yung mga cable sa dapat na sinasaksakan nila is nireset ko yung router [may maliit na butas sa likod at sundutin niyo lang ng matagal.. sa akin nga 20secs pero sabi kahit 10secs lang daw ayos na buto buto..] magrerestart yung router..

     tapos ng restart of router, open ko browser ko at ayun, smartbro portal na.. hihi!

     about sa http://192.168.0.1 na iyan eh yung default daw is Admin pero ako nakailang type na pero wala.. hindi.. ayaw.. ay makakapatay ako.. pero try ko admin at doon naman gumana?! naisip ko isang letra lang naman malaki ah?! sooz.. tapos iyun doon niyo ayusin na kung anu dapat niyong ayusin.. psp at laptop ko nakakaconnect na sa net.. hehe!

     Grabee its easy pala to set-up smart bro using the Dlink Dir300 wifi router.

     Just make sure that you don’t use the set-up CD which came with it. Unplug the Smart lan cable on the orig PC. Then plug the router using on one of its LAN port via a LAN cable to the network card of the original PC where the Smart bro was configured.

     Then go to IP address 192.168.0.1 which is the default IP of the router so you can access it settings. Then change the default username and password and save the settings.

     Next on the 1st tab, named “Setup” Click on the manual “Internet Connection Setup”. For the internet connection type choose DHCP. Then at the bottom which says DHCP Connection type. Click on the “Clone MAC adress” so that the MAC ID of the orig PC will be used by the router so as to prevent the disturbing SMART log-in screen from appearing should you use the router. Click on “save Settings”.

     Reboot the router and log out. Now connect the Smart Lan cable on the router’s WAn port. Add more PCs on the router’s Lan port and test your connection by using 2 PCs simultaneously.

     That’s it!

     Of course, the smart bro antenna will not be able to send/receive data and thus it cannot be detected by your router if its not powered on. Always make sure that the Smart power adapter which powers the Smart canopy is always plugged in so that the router can detect it.

     There are routers with USB ports where in you can use a 3G/HSDPA modem such as the Smart Bro prepaid and the likes to be shared over the network. However, it will be more expensive and not widely available in stores. I saw it as advertised on the local magazine “PC Buyer’s Guide” September 2008 edition.

     Patulong naman po.. We were able to connect 2 computers dito sa bahay.. Yung old laptop yung parang server connected through LAN.. then yung isa pang laptop nakaconnect through WLAN.. Pero nung nagdagdag pa kami nung isang laptop, nadedetect niya yung signal pero di makaconnect.. Same thing with the PSP.. It was able to detect the signal but always come up with an error like this, “A connection error has occured. A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the network and try again.” Di naman encrypted yung connection namin dito sa bahay..Could it be yung router or yung internet connection namin? We are using Loopcomm LP-8186 and Smart Bro plan 999. Please help.. And how do i port forward the router so I’ll be able to seed in uTorrent? This is my email add humanimate_12@hotmail.com ..      help me please.. we have 3 PCs here in the house using one smartbro connection and we have a surecom 4904sx 4 ports router but then when smart terminated our smartbro connection for 3 days (some bills matter), then we pay our bills the problem started here when i tried to use the internet it says limited or no connectivity, but when i direct the cable to one of our PC the internet is OK… i manage to think that i need to reconfigure the router but another problem pops up.. i cant get through my routers configuration.. i know the default IP is 192.168.1.1 (correct me if im wrong).. i dont know what to do now..please somebody help me…. thanks

     Most likely the problem lies with your wifi router. Check your manual for proper configuration.

     To check if its Smart bro’s problem then connect the original PC where it was configured originally. If it has no problems then you can surf.

     Why use utorrent in downloading with Smart Bro when you can manage it easily with Bitlord torrent downloader. I always get a 450-500 kbps download speed with Smart Bro. So a 350 MB episode file will be finished in 2 hrs 30 mins tops.

     first tym kong bumili at gumamit ng wireless router (DLINK dir-300) nakakakonek ang laptop ko sa router at kitang kita sa ko sa network connection ko ang packet send at recieve nya pero ang problema ay pag nag browse ako sa mozilla hindi ako makakonek… tumawag ako sa smartbro at ang sabi nila maganda ang signal ko at nung magpatulong ako kung paano isetup ang nabili kong router ang sagot sakin ay hnd na raw nila sakop ung pag setup ng router… kung meron man sa inyo ang nakakaalam kung paano isetup ang dir-300 magpost lang kayo, ngayon pa lng nagpapasalamat na ako!

     zairo, try to check if it works w/ IE because if it does then it’s a firefox setting problem. if it doesn’t, hard wire your laptop to the router, if it works fine when it’s wired then the wireless part has to be fixed. try to connect w/o encryption or mac filter. if it works then try encryption. if there’s still problems, upgrade ur router’s firmware but read the update notes first. let me know what happens.

     ngayon gumagana na ang dlink dir-300 router ko… gamit ko ngayon ang 2 pc ng sabay laptop at desktop…
     sinunod ko ung sinabi mo @ imman… nung una kc hnd ko na unplug ang mga saksakan ng smartbro antenna ko at ung saksakan ng dir300 kaya cguro hnd marefresh.

     mga nagkakaproblema dyan sa dlink dir 300 basahin nyo nalang to:
     
     1. Place the router in an open and central location. Do not plug the power adapter into the router.
     2. Turn the power off on your modem. If there is no on/off switch, then unplug the modem’s power adapter. Shut down your computer.
     3. Unplug the Ethernet cable (that connects your computer to your modem) from your computer and place it into the WAN port on the router.
     4. Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the four LAN ports on the router. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port on your computer.
     5. Turn on or plug in your modem. Wait for the modem to boot (about 30 seconds).
     6. Plug the power adapter to the router and connect to an outlet or power strip. Wait about 30 seconds for the router to boot.
     7. Turn on your computer.
     8. Verify the link lights on the router. The power light, WAN light, and the LAN light (the port that your computer is plugged into) should be lit. If not, make sure your computer, modem, and router are powered on and verify the cable connections are correct.
     9. Skip to page 14 to configure your router.

     FOR THOSE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THEIR DLINK DIR 300 WITH SMART BRO: I already posted these steps above b ut those who are lazy to read through the whole page then here it is.

     Just make sure that you don’t use the set-up CD which came with it. Unplug the Smart lan cable on the orig PC. Then plug the router using on one of its LAN port via a LAN cable to the network card of the original PC where the Smart bro was configured.

     Then go to IP address 192.168.0.1 which is the default IP of the router so you can access it settings. Then change the default username and password and save the settings.

     Next on the 1st tab, named “Setup” Click on the manual “Internet Connection Setup”. For the internet connection type choose DHCP. Then at the bottom which says DHCP Connection type. Click on the “Clone MAC adress” so that the MAC ID of the orig PC will be used by the router so as to prevent the disturbing SMART log-in screen from appearing should you use the router. Click on “save Settings”.

     Reboot the router and log out. Now connect the Smart Lan cable on the router’s WAn port. Add more PCs on the router’s Lan port and test your connection by using 2 PCs simultaneously.

     That’s it!

     hmm..for additional comments, for wireless connections (adding additonal pc’s) you need a router, you dont need a hub because a hub is just a stupid modem, almost all routers work as a switch, and they are smart modems, i suggest that you do mr. fredmons’s instructions because thats the best solution for wireless connections using smart bro to avoid their security site, smart bro can actually disable the security feature on their network but as we all know, it’s a business strategy so customers can only apply/order for another connection

Kaya lang i have a problem with my vaio laptop. Madalas itong tinotopak na hindi makadetect ng wifi connection. ano kyang may problema? Ung laptop ba since ung isa nman (toshiba) ay hindi nagkakaroon ng gnon problem o yung router? o yung smartbro?

     Hi there guys! just had time to post here. nabasa ko ung mga posts nyo. and i would just like to answer some questions and give you a very good news…

     Here’s the thing about that “clone MAC address” na sinasabi u need to use…

     Yung antenna ng smartbro aka “canopy” ay gumagamit ng authentication to allow your computer na mkapasok sa Internet.

     When you connect your computer to the antenna and open a browser or internet explorer, you’re being redirected to smartbro page and it asks for a username and password.

     After logging in to smartbro, the antenna will remember your MAC address. (eg: 00:01:ED:4D:6A:1F) “It is the same as the physical address of the Local area connections of your computer.”

     Then allows you to connect to the Internet.

     That is why when you restart your antenna, it does not ask for the username and password again because it knows your MAC address is the one you used before.

     Nakakalito na ba?

     So ano naman ang kinalaman ng router dito?

     Basically, a router has a different MAC address

     What “Clone MAC address” does is that it copies the computer” MAC address then presents it to the antenna.
     So that the antenna would think that the router is actually the computer.

     Then allow it to connect to the Internet.

     So gano kahalaga ung Clone MAC address? WALA, hindi sya mahalaga.

     Bakit? Kasi pag bago ung MAC address na nadetect nya (antenna)… na comoconnect sa kanya, ang gagawin lang nya ay magtanong ng username and password to make sure na ikaw nga un. Gets?

     Here are some basic things you need to remember when trying to use a router for smartbro…

     1. Make sure nakaconnect yung antenna sa WAN port ng router. Bahala na kau kung saang port nyo ilagay yung pc. it doesn’t matter LAN port 1 - 4.
     2. Use Dynamic IP DHCP option on the router.
     3. You can click on “Clone MAC address” or simply input the MAC address of your computer manually.
     4. After nyo i-save ung settings. You should be able to see a WAN IP address dun sa status ng router. Pag wala keep refreshing the page or power cycle nyo ung router.

     Below are the instructions how to check the MAC address or the physical address.

     From control panel: Network connections > Double click Local area connections> Click on support tab> Click details.

     Or simply type this in your Command prompt: ipconfig /all

     ONE MORE THING (VERY IMPORTANT)

     In some cases na tumatawag saken ganito lang ang solution.

     NAKALIMUTAN ikabit ung black cord na power supply nung antenna bago ikabit sa router….

     So PLEASE BE VERY SURE na the wire from the antenna goes to the black power supply first (motorolla brand) before connecting it to the router. Or else d talaga gagana un kahit mag tumbling kau dyan. hehe. joke.

     For you to get all 16 pc’s to work in smarbro simply buy a 16 or 24 port switch. Connect one port of the switch to one port of the router. After that you can connect pc’s to each and every port available on your switch.

     NOTE: Cgurado ka ba na 16 pc’s sa smartbro… sobrang bagal nun pare. lalu na pag nagsabaysabay. But it WILL work definitely.

     regarding ASUS wireless router they already have an advance features that already varies, kaya na nia idetect if your using Smart bro or not but since were all using smartbro in here… easy lang ang solution:
     the system will ask you for owners name and physical address or MAC address to be able to get that:
     -click start
     -click run
     -type cmd
     -then on the command prompt type ipconfig /all
     -find your pc name and physical address or mac add
     -get a piece of paper and copy it

     back to the wireless set up lagay mo na yung name ng pc and mac address yung isang option dun na heart beat leave it blank then click apply or save hanngang sa magfinish ang set up…

     (optional)
     you can add the mac address of of your laptop for reference

     try to browse
     if ip conflict message appaers just restart your pc and your router i mean alisin mo sa saksakan at buksan ulit wag mo pindutin ang restore kasi back to zero ka ulit… hahaha

     try to do a speed test using http://www.speedtest.net or http://utilities.globequest.com.ph then click on bandwidth meter.

     If it goes nowhere near 2mbps then you have to call Smartbro.

     In my opinion maganda sana ung 2mbps na advertised kung naaabot lang talaga. kaso kadalasan drawing lang ung 2Mbps. If that’s what’s promised to you then you have to dispute that.

     I’ve tried this setup

     Smart - PC (Working Good)
     hub - PC (gumagana network games)
     router - PC (same gumagana network)
     Smart - Router - PC (putol putol mula pa nung last week of Nov)
     Smart - Router - Hub - PC (same prob)

     nagkakaroon siya ng internet kaso after some minutes ma DDC then connected ulit di mo xa madedetect pag nagnenet ka lng (although minsan nag blblank screen) pero madedetect mo xa pag nag Oonline games ka na tried ko lahat ng process but ganun pa rin…

     Process i’ve tried:
     1. Reset router reconnect internet - fail
     2. Reset router connect 1 pc directly to Smart then set up network - fail
     3. Connect 1 pc directly, set up router then ung Clone Mac - fail

     Ano much better

     1. Buy ako ng better router
     2. Setup ko 1 PC as main source of net

     To Justify,
     You need to set up your hubs coz according to my experience hubs has a default ip…. ad that to your riuter set up if it possible then good but if same problem occurs, you need to nake a new server,

     Hello Guys,

     I cannot give you the specific details but I can give the general procedure to setup your router.

     1. Take note of your PC’s MAC address, C>ipconfig /all. This the MAC address registered in SmartBro database during setup of your PC connection.
     2. Insert SmartBro’s cable to WAN port of your router.
     3. Insert your PC’s cable to LAN port 1 to 4 depending how many connections your router has. Start with port 1.
     4. In the router’s setup, put your PC’s MAC as the value of router’s MAC. This is the cloning process.
     5. Check if you can now connect to your PC.
     6. You should be able to browse the Internet using your PC.
     7. Now connect the 2nd PC in the next LAN port.
     8. The 2nd PC should be able to connect to Internet too!

     no offense pero ICS is ver easy to setup. been using this method for many times.. in win xp. much more easier than configuring a router (my own opinion)

     i know how to connect multiple pc in smartbro but using 1 software, u only need to configure first the pc1 to smartbro connection then after that use this simple software then you can connect now ur second pc but the only weakness of this software is you must shutdown first the 1 pc to fullfill the speed connection. if you use simulteneous the connection speed is to slow. ^_^

     try nyo yung bridged networks. go to network places and highlight two lan and bridge them. di ko lang sure kung gagana wala kasi ako smartbro. wireless at wired na nakabridge.

     to change ip addresss nman, pwede mo i-set as manual, kasi pag automatic kahit ilang ipconfig/release/renew pa gawin mo pareho lang lalabas na local IP address. para mabago ang IP, sa network connections, rightclick mo yung network mo then properties, tpos hanapin mo yung TCP/IP protocol then properties. tapos lagay mo preferred na ip address. automatic nman malalagyan ng Mask yan tapos ok mo lang.

     sa speed na 10MBPs blah blah. d mo mababago yan kasi yan ang maximum bandwidth ng antenna mo at di rin dyan nasusukat yung bilis ng connection. pag bumagal bigla yung connection mo, either may trojan ka or may nakiki-ride na hacker sa connection mo o kaya sadyang mahina lang ang sagap ng antenna. gamitan mo ng wave guide para lumakas ng signal. aluminum foil lang nman yun pwede mo gawin mag-isa

     sa desktop, type mo sa browser 192.168.1.1 para makapasok ka sa router enter mo username password
     then pili ka kung ano ggwin mo
     solution1. add mo yung mac addresses ng computers mo sa router kung naka MAC filter ka
     solution2. use WEP encryption rather than mac filtering para enter mo na lang yung 10 digit password para makaconnect yung laptop mo sa router

     hey guyz..need help…i’m using a dlink dir 300 router using smartbro internet connection, it is working fine for a couple of months and then suddenly it won’t open websites anymore (though it opens some websites but it won’t for most websites) smart bro suggested that i reinstall my browsers on all 4 of my computers…i just cannot agree to that because if i directly plug the smartbro line to my computer (without using the router) it works fine…what could be the problem here? do you know any solutions to this headache? I am using dynamic ip’s for all of my pc’s, dns is automatic also. Thank you for the help in advance!!! ; )

     *3 lan card (2pieces for the main computer where smartbro connected and 1 for the parasite rather the second computer)

     *1 utp cable (a crosscable)

     config mo na yung lan card mo

     wala kang gagalawin dun sa lan card na kinakabitan nang smartbro dun sa main…. ung gagalawin mo lang ung lan card na nakakabit dun sa pangalawang computer

     eto ilagay mo>>>

     ip address : 192.168.0.1
     subnet mask : 255.255.224.0

     tapos ung config nang lan card dun sa isa pang com ay:

     ip address : 192.168.0.2
     subnet mask : 255.255.224.0

     note: ICS mo ung lan card na kinakabitan nung smartbro pla.
     : eto ay peer to peer lang kaya kung patay ang main com walang net din ung isa.

     Hi to all, i’m using a Netgear WGR614 as a router. mga 8 months ko na yata gamit super okay sya sa wifi, gamit ang dalawang mac laptop. kaso kahapon lang biglang nawala connection nung wifi, so nung try ko kabit directly yung smartbro modem ko sa laptop okay naman at may connection. nag try ako i reset yung router pero pag access ko na yung netgear wizard to follow step by step nya ayaw connect sa internet. bali yung smartbro modem nakakabit sa internet port ng router tapos may isang cable ako na nakakabit sa LAN papuntang laptop ko, tama naman po diba? pero pag update setting na ayaw connect sa internet, so dinala ko router ko sa ofc para try yung router ko kung sira sya, na configure naman namin agad at naka wifi ako using my mac laptop. pero pag ulitin ko yung process using smartbro ko sa bahay ayaw tumuloy yung internet. ano po kaya problem ko?

     Guys! SMART bro. (canopy) ba yung gamit nyo? are you guys facing a bunch of problem right now dahil sa putol2x na connection? Well, may solusyon na tayo dyan! just put a RELFECTOR on it o di kaya LENS. This product are also design by motorola para sa canopies talaga. By the way Technical Service Engineer po ako sa isang TELCO company and we are an AUTHORIZED MOTOROLA wireless bradband DISTRIBUTOR, for safety hindi ko lang po e mention yung company namin, if you will get intouch with me through email or text, i will explain to you the capabilities of the product and what campany i’m with. We had a project in Cebu wich is the wireless video surveillance cameras (IP cameras) we did used motorola canopy and it worked well guys, imagine Live Video nga yung tina-transmit nun pro we still obtain 30fps! how much more kung data lang (internet). During the installation of the said wireless cameras we encountered some problems regarding sa distance coverage ng radio namin from (AP-AccessPoint to SM-subscriber module). May iba kc na malayo na sa AP so out of coverage na minsana naman nakukuha namin yung signal pro masyadong mataas yung JITTER and yung RSSI masyadong mababa nag reregister xa pro nag puputol putol. Kaya yung ginawa po namin we USED REFLECTORS and LENS. wallahh our problem was solved!

     May time talaga na d tyo marunong bumasa ng manual. switch hub had difference with built in wireless router also had 4 to 8 ports lan connection.

     wifi router has built in (NAT) network address translation and has anew added feature wifi. (wireless internet sharing HOT SPOT or wifi.

     switch hub can also serve as router but no wireless capability like wifi router using software nat like winroute wingate or windows intenet connection sharing using pc with 2 ethernet installed for internet line and port connection to switch hub like old internet cafe style for lan games and internet sharing with dedicated server has a 50 or more port switch for lan connection.

     a wifi router feature remove one old type pc server. they build a plug n play feature so user can plug internet connection shared for desktop, laptop and wireless printers and home entertainment connection.

     also read your switch hub manual how to obtain internet sharing setup connection diaghram. no need to download Comercial NAT software using windows (ICS) but the dissavantage that u need to always on your desktop dedicated pc which you use as server so other pc can connect to internet.

     correct me if im wrong im not a tech guy im just one of the few people hunger for knowledge using internet.

     Make use of your internet for productivity or educational so your parents, boss,friends would acknowledge your internet hobby usefull to them for some help.

     i do like follows: Using first the single PC with proper working connection
     with WinXp u type > ipconfig /all into the commandprompt-window ,
     that shows you your ethernet-Card, physical-adress, IP-adress, subnetmask,
     standard-gateway and 4 DNS server-IP-s.
     Make a hardcopy or a picturefile from this settings.

     Next plug your PC direct to your router (LAN or LAN1).
     If you hava a wireless-router, they have also one LAN-cable plug for config, use this.
     Open the router configuration with any browser by typing the router-ip
     into the adressfield ( most of time it have this ip: 192.168.1.1 otherwise
     check the routermanual ).
     If the automatic setup (postet by other friendly users) not work, chose manual
     setup the WAN (protocol)” Using static IP” and set the IP from your hardcopy
     also the subnetmask and the gateway (standard-gateway IP)
     and enable the option NAT if you have it in your config.

     Next setup your DNS server IPs, chose the first two from your copy,
     if you do this not, you can´t open any homepage like http://www.google.com.
     A username or a password is not needed using the manual setup.

     Next step: open the controlpanel - networkconnections -
     open your Ethernet-Card properties, go to TCP/IP properties and
     setup your IP adress. If your router-ip is 192.168.1.1 you must use the
     IP-string 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255
     The subnetmask is in home-network allways 255.255.255.0
     Your standard-gateway is the same as your router-ip (192.168.1.1 )
     Set also the DNS server ip like your router-ip (192.168.1.1 )
     click the ok-button and reboot your system.

     At last connect your SmartBro Lan-cable to the WAN on your router.

     Now you only must open your browser to go online.

     my ISP is smartbro and it is connected to a PC. and since i needed a LAPTOP for me to bring to school, we actually purchased one. my unit is ACER 4736Z. and i since i wanted to use the LT for internet browsing here at home, i decided to buy a wireless router. i have the edimax wired/wireless broadband router BR-6214K. i actually had it connected to the PC and to the smartbro modem. and the internet is actually working fine.

     my problem is, my LT is wifi ready and i am able to have access to the internet in other places that i go that has wifi. and earlier i have done the set-up for my router, however, i cant get even a little amount of signal. it says no wireless connection available. was there something else that i need to do?

     just want to share what i’ve done dito sa bahay ko.. i’m a smart bro user for almost 3 years, and connection is fine for me, no complains of internet connection for 3 years (even though marami na dyang ISP na mas mabilis pa), but anyway i get the said speed of up to 384kbps for the same years i’ve been in smart bro..

     i’m also using a wireless router dito sa bahay for 1 1/2 years (Linksys WRT54GS), after i came back home from US.. and everything is working perfectly fine.. now, yung mga instructions binitaw on earlier posts on how to set-up a router sa smart bro ay totoo — just follow them nalang —- but one thing is missing —— you have to log-in sa account mo sa smart portal once they asked you in any browser so you could start surfing the net ka-agad with all your PC’s connected to the network.. i did all these steps too, while setting-up my dad’s office with smartbro connection and a router.. the same goes at my uncle’s home (may VOIP router: Vonage pa sya).. so, i already tried it thrice, and it works perfectly fine to three ends..

     what i did: i had 3 PC’s with me (2 PC’s are fine): a desktop and 2 notebooks (a correct term for laptops), i used my desktop as my base station for configuration and tweaking.. so after setting-up the router, i opened firefox (any browser will do) and the smartbro portal was there asking me to log-in.. i entered my log-in account details, after being logged-in (medyo matagal —– motto: patience is a virtue: ha ha ha.. LOL) pwede na ako maka-surf the net: yahoo, google, youtube and stuff..

     now, you might ask, what about the other PC’s? so, while the internet connection is still going-on (try to view a youtube video); connect another CAT 5 cable to one open port of the router with the other end to your other PC.. with the PC #2, it will automatically detect connection, after detection and connection is successful, open a browser in PC #2 and surf the net (surf whatever, wherever you want in both PC’s — this is to make the internet connection open, since smartbro is dedicated only to 1 PC station).. Naturally, the speed will slow down, since two PC’s are using the same connection.. Now, If you have another PC (PC #3), do the same steps as before, having the principle of opening the connection to all possible PC’s (making the router’s IP and MAC addresses known to SMart’s cell site network)..

     then, close the internet browser of PC #1 and unplug the CAT 5 cable of PC #1, while still browsing the net in PC #2, making it as the last PC being used.. the same goes if you have a 3rd PC (make PC # 3 as the last PC).. now, if your router is wireless, connect any PC into your network thru wireless, and test the connection by surfing.. after all has been successfully done, refresh your internet connection by unplugging first your router then your internet..

     after unplugging everything — wait for about 3 to 5 mins, so your smartbro internet antenna can refresh itself completely.. after 5 mins. firstly, plug-in or turn your internet on and wait for about 3 to 5 mins (in order for the server and your antenna can detect its connection) —- (5 mins interval? are you kidding? —- TRUST ME, these things do happen and they work great; search the net if you won’t believe me).. after 3 to 5 mins from plugging the internet, turn on your router and observe the led light of the internet in the router if its blinking every now and then (if it is blinking, then its a good sign for internet connection from the smart’s cell site server to detect your antenna’s IP address)..

     now, let’s test the success of your work, it’s time try your network wirelessly, connect from PC #2 to your network’s SSID with your passphrase(if you had configured it).. after successful connection to your network, open a browser and try to open any webpage, if it opens —- there you go.. you may also test it, by connecting another PC wirelessly or thru cable..

     with these steps, i have mentioned above, i’ve been using the router and smart bro with only my notebook wirelessly, and sometimes simultaneously with my dad with his own notebook as well.. naturally, internet speed slows down if a lot of users are using it simultaneously, but it will go back to 384 kbps, especially to 1 user alone..

     hope, these could help you solve your network problems and help others as well.. frankly, i’m not a computer geek, but i sometimes tweak my PC intentionally and discover a lot new with it..

     pero kung isang pc ka lang, eto gawin mo: kapag naka-direct connection ka ngayon, test mo muna connection mo, browse ka muna ng ilang sites.. tapos, habang off ung router mo, ikabit mo ung internet cable to the internet port sa router.. (turn off your wireless adapter sa PC din, kelangan wala munang connection..)

     kumuha ka ulit ng CAT 5 cable (pwede mo ma-bili sa PC stores kung wala ka), connect 1 end of CAT 5 cable to any port sa router and the other end to your PC.. then turn on your router.. while your router is refreshing itself, observe your internet connection, give it about 3 - 5 mins to refresh.. open internet explorer, a smartbro portal will appear — enter your reference # and your account #.. after logging-in to smart bro, you can start your internet connection by cable/lan..

     to start your wireless connection:
     (assuming that you have already configured your router’s settings before) while internet connection is still open by LAN, browse any website in your internet explorer/firefox.. while viewing a video sa youtube thru LAN connection, turn your wireless adapter sa PC mo.. kapag naka-connect na ang PC thru wireless (makikita mo yan sa network connection window na connected thru LAN and wireless), open another browser, youtube ka ulit.. during at this time nag-connect na PC mo thru wireless, dahan dahan tanggalin ang LAN cable mo..

     kapag naka-download ka na ng video sa youtube, habang wala na ang LAN cable mo… viola!! ayan na.. me wireless connection ka na..

     pwede mo i-refresh ulit ang router and internet connection mo.. refer this sa old post ko sa june 28 sa pag-refresh ng router at internet.. same pa rin ang principle..

     i need help in installing my router. it’s an encore ENHWI-G2 router from cdr king. i tried everything, even the step-by-step instruction from cdr king site, and I still can’t use the router. it prompts the error “getting IP from DHCP server” or ” PPPoE disconnected”. i took it back to cdr king and when the technician tried, he had the same problem but he kept on adjusting something and it was then running well. when i asked how he did it, he just told me to keep refreshing/adjusting the IP. i did as he told me and to no avail, my router is still not configured/installed.

     my roommate is currently subscribed to smartbro’s plan 99 (antenna). balak namin sana i-share yung connection niya. so nagsearch ako at dito ako napunta. marami naman ako natutunan kaso pag basa ko sa bandang baba ung iba sinasabi na di na daw pwede i-router ang smartbro ngayon?

     is this true? pakiclarify naman oh.

     In order to setup a router with smart Bro we have to first connect the Ethernet cable from the smart bro to the internet port of the router and then connect pc to one of the Ethernet port of the router. We should be sure that the IP address is obtain automatically and on our browser we should type 192.168.1.1 leaving user name and password and save the settings. Check the Status Tab to check if the router was able to get the connection from smart bro. if DHCP than set it to static IP. Hope it will work out.

     Hi.. To all smart-bro users who want to use a router so they can share their connection with other pc/laptop on their house….

     1. unplug the ethernet cable from your pc that is directly connected from smart-bro antenna..
     2. then turn on the router that your going to use.. and plug the ethernet cable that you unplug on the 1st step to the WAN port of the router.
     3. Connect another ethernet cable from your PC going to any of the 4 port of your router.
     4. Access your router by typing the default IP address of the router (depend’s on your router brand)
     5. If you can’t access the router webpage. Go to Run menu then type cmd (enter) there will be a box that will appear just type ipconfig /all to check if the gateway that you get from the result is the default ip of your gateway if its not, type this ipconfig /release (enter) then ipconfig /renew then check again if you already get the default gateway ip.. If not again go to your Local Area Connection Properties - > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then on the General Tab Choose Use the following IP address, set your
     IP address 192.168.x.2
     Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
     Gateway (default IP of router) either 192.168.1.1 / 192.168.0.1
     Then click OK
     After Setting your IP go to your browser (IE/Firefox) type the default IP of your gateway (192.168.1.1 / 192.168.0.1 )
     Then Look for the MAC Address Clone then if it is disable make it enable (default disable) then click Clone Your PC’s MAC.. remember you should Clone the MAC of the PC that you 1st used connected to Smart-bro…

     hi mga BRO? ^.^ share ko lng kasi I’ve been seeing similar problems when it comes to routers. and meron solution s mga tanong nyo, i found this very common in computer shop owners. they use any router (linksys <– eto ung commong n nkikita ko ) and then they put plug it to a switch/hub to connect multiple pc via ethernet cable, and i was thinking, bka ms mapadali ung connection nyo using this set-up (drawback is *mapapamahal kayo* mejo may presyo din ang switch), and pede nila ma use ung wifi connection sa router at the same time ung mga computers connected via ethernet cables. (no more additional set-up)

     please correct this if wrong and ill try to research more. TNX
     mag comment kayo dito guys. kahit murahin nyo ko okay lng. hahaha

     hi there everyone let me share my knowledge with you im also using smartbro using edimax wifi router if your an xp user you can just plug in the smart bro connection to your router then from the router ports to you computer thats easy you dont need to install the driver of your router unless your techie enough coz it might get up into a complicated scenario also reagarding to set up a password to your wifi connection is easy but if you put a password you might not get connected sometimes but if you really want privacy you can set up using a wepkey or wpa but i do suggest you use wpa which is more stronger than the wep key if you want to set up use the cd that come together with your router also want to remind you na madaming hacks na ang wifi so parang waste of time to set a password just share it na lang your blessing also just want to share that we can still boost the wifi signal also with the speed connection (smart bro) how ill share it next time….

     should be easy. just setup your router to automatically get IP.

     connect the right cables,
     setup router to get IP automatically from a DHCP
     go to https://bro-portal.smartbro.net/registered_account_info.php
     enter account information, then your account is setup so that the router will get the connection and just share it with your PCs. send me an email if you need help.

     One more time since I cannot get it really. I have a D-Link 2640 wireless router and two computers. One i have used to configure the router. Both is connected when i did the configuring. Nag Firefox ako, pasok internet ok. Pag pasok ko naman sa firefox dun s a PC#2 nag re direct sa SmartBro at naputol na yung connection sa PC#1. Pag pasok ko ulit sa PC No. 2 Firefox naputol naman yung connection sa PC#2. Meaning isa lang bang PC ang pwede mag internet sa Smart Bro?

     Kung susundin ko yung i clone yung MAC Address, san ko gagawin yun, sa PC# 1 na gamit ko pag configure ng router o both PC#1 & 2?
     Please help at bwisit na bwisit na ako dito sa martbro, 3 months na akong nagrereklamo puro promise na pupunta di naman pumupunta mga bwisit na ire.

     my tito also had a prblem regarding his router..I have my own PC and cnncted to the internet(smartbro). And he had cnncted to us w/ his router, but when the time smartbro always asked to redirect the page(smartbro portal always appear), the connection started to fail though i had re-log-in my account in smartbro portal. but when i tried to direct the internet cable to my own PC without using the router, the connection is ok, but when we use the router, it fails..so we concluded that the problem is the router so my tito decided to repair it. a couple of weeks later it has been repaired so we tried to connect it again but the same problem happened. so he went off again to repair it, the technician said that the router is ok since she tried to use it in her own PC..and she said we need to configure the settings in my PC..

     do you think we have the same problem to what most people here had?please help me guyz…thanks

     halu,

     First thing you should know is to make sure that you are using a router and NOT A SWITCH. Kasi nag kakaroon ng conflict sa ip kung switch ang gagamitin nyo and that’s the reason kng bakit isa lang na pc ang nakakabrowse/nakagamit ng internet.

     For the setup, i think this could help.

     Dlink:
     1. Insert your smartbro cable to the wan/internet port of the router.
     2. Insert the lan cables of the pc’s to the ethernet port of the router.
     3. Plug the adapter of the router and see if the lights were turned on.
     4. Go to your web browser (ie internet explorer, firefox) and then type in the url 192.168.1.1. Enter the username and password of the router (the default username and password are usually written in the router’s manual)
     5. Go to Quick Setup > Next
     6. Select Dynamic IP > Next
     7. Enable Wireless Radio. Enter your preferred SSID. Select your region, channel. Enter mode: 54Mbps > Next > Finish
     8. Go to Network > MAC Clone > Click Clone Mac Address > Save.

     Edimax:
     1. Follow steps 1-3.
     2. Go to your web browser (ie internet explorer, firefox) and then type in the url 192.168.2.1. Enter the username and password of the router (the default username and password are usually written in the router’s manual)
     3. Go to General Setup > WAN > Select Dynamic IP > Next.
     4. Click Clone Mac Address > Select Obtain IP Address Automatically > Disable TTL > Apply.

     See if the computers can connect to the internet.

     TIPS: pag setup ng router

     1) 1st naka stand alone yung computer. detached the rj45 connector ng bro.
     2) connect the router to the router to your computer.
     3) install your router.
     4) kayo nyo na susunod ^_^
