Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Hi. I am not really that technical so pardon this question. I just bought a Linksys IP camera thinking that I can view it through the web with my smartbro connection.
Was able to install the camera and can view it through my local pc in the office. However, tried testing it and tried viewing it remotely through the web… unsuccessful. I am using a router in the office. My IP cam is wired into the router.
I called Linksys customer service. They told me that it is possible that smartbro issued me a private IP address. And also, i am operating daw with two firewalls, one in the router and the other, smartbro. Can some please help me through this. Maybe there is a way to work around this firewall or IP address problem.

Hi markeedhey, I am located in Alabang
IP cam (as far as remote viewing) is really not possible with smartbro coz its a private IP. I tried it 2 yrs. ago. That time, even their technical hotlines hindi alam kung ano ang sasabihin. The only way to use your IPcam is to subscribe on their corporate account which can (apparently) give a static IP for you.
I dont advise the use of webcam specially if you will use it on your remote business site and leave it open? Pupunta k uli sa remote site just to refresh.
Sabi pa naman nila sa mga adverts nila ng IPcams that “it works on ANY internet connection!”
Onli in the Philippines yan,men!
he-he-he
Now i know bakit ayaw gumana ng webcamxp sa web. lintik na smart. WTF…
You can use hamachi as a Virtual Private Networking you can download it at hamachi.cc
Just install it then create your network like on workgroup in your network neighborhood then join.
Ive stop using this for a couple of months now because theres a problem on their system, I don’t know if its OK now just try it…
I hope you have already fixed yer dilemma by now. But incase not yet, a few things that may help you is to make sure that you forwarded the same ports on both the router & the cam’s setup page. To access the cam outside, simply type http://WanIP:PORT. Now if the Wan IP is DHCP & it constantly changes, u may need to sign up for DDNS service. Linksys has 90day trial period for that service. So instead of accessing it thru the Wan IP just type in the domain name. If this won’t work then check for any firmware updates on both devices that maybe a fix to yer problem. But if yer Wan IP is a private IP and not public then that’s gonna be a problem.
smart bro ung problem dyan smart bro *sU**s hmmp!!
And for those who think of hopping up to Globelines broadband (3G <<Worse) – TeamViewer Wont WOrk, Hamachi – I doubt it, if you are happy with OpenDNS – Dont go with Globelines you for will be tortured, If you connect to DalNET in IRC, AKILL ang IP mo, If you enjoyed YM then during peak times, logging in to YM is like u got an LBM and lastly, they (Globelines claimed they got 1.+MBps max for their 3G) Yes its true they can reach that bandwidth but they also got at least 10kpbs – Note the “k” not “K”. So better stay put with Smartbro if you got no other choice.. She’s a lesser EVIL .
@elito v. circa
ang galing mo naman, ang hirap niyan
sir/madame use the dyndns para mabigyan ka ng private IP. we are using also linksys surveillance camera at the same time you have to configure the port forward to have a access on web.
@gadz81
Or, maraming nakablock na mga puno or buildings or power grid between your canopy and the tower. If my assumption fits your case, maglagay ka ng reflector. Check http://www.roughclaw.com. My locally available silang reflectors.
I need Help, my contact number 09213051218
