Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Hi,
I am currently having problems with transferring my connection to my other PC. I can’t get authenticated correctly by the smartbro-lok portal *sigh*
Details of what happened:
- transfer lan to other pc
- wait for IP to be retrieved
- try initial browsing (i.e. www.google.com)
- diverted to smartbro-lok portal
- logged in
- account authentication… (which doesn’t work correctly for X years already)
- error message “New setting in your connection has been detected…. “account will be temporarily deactivated”
- tried again for IE and firefox.
Just like to ask if any of you has encountered this problem. Thanks! ^_^
Note: I didn’t bother calling the hotline as they are full of (*&@#*%$. I already know how to restart my PC and how to release/renew my IP. No need to tell me over and over again.

Experienced the same before when I got a new PC. The only solution to this is that you really have to call their Customer Support, no matter how lousy they are, because they will have to register your new MAC to their system.
Baliw!! kapag nagbago ka ng lan card, xmpre hnd kaagad un madedetect ng network!!! xmpre kaylngan mong maglogin sa portal or enter u lang ung service reference number or account number. itawag nyo sa hotline ung password generation kasi sa hotline na rereset un. at anung cnsabi mong release/renew??? Same lang naman yan sa disable/enable… !!!????
bahtul, there’s no problem naman if you can ask for assistance to smartbro….madali lang naman basta handa mo lang yung account and reference number mo…i know you can do it….

ganito ba talaga katagal ang holding time ng smartbro hotline tech support? mag-t-ten minutes na ata akong nakikinig sa music na pinapatugtog nila wla pa rin sumasagot

hi! ang problem ko naman, dati nakakaconnect din ako using my laptop.. desktop kasi talaga nakakabit yung cable.. pero nung mga nakaraang araw hanggang ngayon di na ko makaconnect sa laptop. dati kasi pag nililipat ko yung cable, lagi ako nareredirect sa login page. pero ngayon di na ko nareredirect dun. pagkabit ko sa laptop, lumalabas lang yung portal tapos pag hinintay ko or kahit iclick ko yung” if you’re not automatically redirected, click here”.. nag pe page cannot be displayed na.. lagi na lang ganun ang nangyayari. tapos pag sa desktop, ibinalik ko yung cable di na ko hinihingan ng info or di na ko nirerequire mag login tulad dati. automatic na agad nagcoconnect.. by the way, sa laptop ko nga pala nakalagay sa tray, or dun sa taskbar sa may dalawang monitors na maliit: connection: Local only.. pero dati local and internet yun e./. tulong naman po.. thanks in advance!

this is what are you going to do:
PART 1:
Do this on the pc/laptop where the connection was first installed
1. go to Start > Run
2. type CMD in the box
3. on command prompt type IPCONFIG /ALL
4. take note of the details listed as shown below:
(assuming that Local Area Coonection is the ethernet card where smartbro cable was attached to)
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek Fast Ethernet NIC (the name depends on your NIC brand)
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1C-F0-xx-xx-xx (this is your MAC Address)
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes (for residential)
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.8.xxx
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

5. pgkatapos nyo makuha ang info, do this on your other pc/laptop:
PART 2:
method 1:
Start > Connect to > Show All Connections
Method 2:
Start > right-click on My Network Places > select Properties
when the Network Connection Windows launched, do the following:
1. right-click on Local Area Connection
2. select Properties
3. select General
4. select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
5. click on Properties ( tcp/ip configuration will appear)
6. select Use the following IP address
7. enter the details gathered in PART 1
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
8. click Ok.
9. select General > click Configure beside Realtek PCI Fast
Ethernet NIC (the name depends on your NIC brand)
10. NIC configuration will appear, select Advanced
11. select Network Address
12. on Value, default is Not Present, select the first option
button and enter the MAC address taken from ipconfig as shown:
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1C-F0-xx-xx-xx (this is
your MAC Address)
Note: you may need to restart your pc for the configuration to take effect or you have to configure again the TCP/IP after the restart coz it may reset your configuration.

ang importante jan yun MAC (Physical Address) ng machine na una mong ginamit, just transfer the MAC address to the new machine as well as the IP address or pwede obtain mo IP address automatically

Sir, ang MAC(Media Access Control) address ang importante sa internet connection natin sa Smartbro. Ung MAC(unique address) address kase ang ireregister ng Smart sa kanilang mga servers. If you are using a swith/hub, kung cno lng ang may MAC na nakaregister sa Smartbro ang siyang makakaconnect. To solve this problem, you have to CLONE the MAC address and you can easily distribute the connection to your other pc’s. Ang tanong, pano mag clone????? Ang sagot ay to use a ROUTER. Ang router ay maraming gamit. It manages logical addressing, it can be a DHCP(server cya ng mga IP address for your private address. Pero may limit din un depende sa manufacturer.) server, cyempre NAT firewal, and etc. Kase ang tinigin sa atin ng labas na network(example PLDT, SMART, GLOBE) ay one computer lang. Medyo mahirap intindihin pero ganun ang concept nya.

ndi lahat ng problem s smartbro connection may be resolved only on your own, line “your account is temporarily deactivated”.. malamang!! kailangan mo n tumawag sa hotline to adjust your account. dahil kahit ilang ulit mong ihataw sa ulo mo ang monitor at keyboard mo, hndi mgging successful and activation dahil MALI ang pag-enter mo ng SERVICE REFERENCE NUMBER at ACCOUNT NUMBER. wag mag magaling.. tao ka lang.. sabi nga nung nabasa ko, smart was built by human hands. at kung tao ka, maiinitihan mo and kasabihang “nobody’s perfect”…
ung paglipat naman ng connection from computer to other pc/laptop, NORMAL lang mag-aapear yung SMARTBRO PORTAL. at for your security and authentication purposes, you need to login your account info. for example, gumagamit ka ng wireless router, anyone in your place who has a wireless laptop can access your connection only if they know your service reference number and account number. dahil once na-detect ng laptop nila ang connection mo,automatic din n mag-aappear yung portal. aba, alam mo bang babagal ang connection mo pag nka-router ka??
sa ngayon, sumubok akong tumawag sa *1888, hindi na ako naghihintay ng matagal dahil meron na silang auto-generated system checking.. once your concern is technical,make sure na nasa harap kau ng computer,at nkasaksak ang motorola adaptor ng smartbro mo.
maganda ang smartbro connection. wag puro reklamo.. tumingin ka muna sa salamin bago ka magreklamo… tao!!!
Patulong po regarding sa router, npapagana ko before yung linksys router sa pag share ng smartbro internet.,actually ang purpose ko makapaginternet using my laptop wlan kahit saang pwesto ng house. Ang setting ko before sa router ko dchp tapos mac adress cloning and gumagana naman before pero ngayon february ayaw na gumana, bumili pa nga ako ng dlink router ayaw pa rin, ano po kaya ang sousyon?nablock na kaya ng smart ang gumagamit ng router?

Help with Vista please, error code P30040 when trying to sign in using a 2nd unit:
My problem is this, hope you guys can help:
1. Smart Bro works just fine on my desktop.
2. I transfer the ethernet cable to my laptop (Vista) and open Internet Explorer or Firefox.
3. I am taken to the Smart Bro Portal (after about 3 minutes of waiting for the page to redirect).
4. I try to sign in using my Service Reference # and Account # then click Submit. Website gives me “error P30040, please open another browser.” Then the Submit button locks. I open another browser, it does the same thing.
Tried calling tech support but they were no help at all (@smartbro agent, no offense but this is true. I was entering my service ref # and account # correctly.
Need answers ASAP, please help. Is this a Vista problem? Will I have more luck when I buy a router and go wireless with the laptop?

i have the same problem with Vista user, at first i was using Vista, i tried to call the smartbro hotline. but nothing happens. so i bought new LAN card. And do the same steps but still it does not connect. so i change my OS to XP and still it does not connect, the error code is error code P30040 and b1640. even if i remove the new LAN card. it only connect to my old PC.
i also try to use the New LAN card to my old PC, then it did not connect. it will only connect to the old PC with its built in LAN card.
I’ve been trying to fix this damm thing for about 5 days.

Okay, eh, eto naman yung tragicly farse smart bro story ko.
My aunt(ofw) wanted to see the the outside view of the house so bumili ako ng router (obvious ba na di makaabot sa labas ng bahay yung wire XD ::lol::) From time to time, i switch the connection from wireless to “wiresome” XD, eh ngayon, di na ako nakaka log in sa smart bro portal pag naka wired connection ako. Pero okay lang sa wireless.
Is it normal na pumupunta sa smart bro portal eveyrtime i switch from wireless to wired internet connection or vice versa?
Bat di na ako nakakaconnect sa net kung wired connection yung gamit ko?

As far as I know, if you change your cable internet and put it in the other computer (other than where your internet configured), the moment Smartbro detects it, its system will block that. You can not also change or edit its IP Address and cant copy it to another, and so on… The truth is, it is only grant you one license to use it to the original computer that it was assigned. If you want to have another access to the internet thru other computer, Smartbro is telling you, subscribe another one or acquire their plan where it has a sharing category!!!!

hi dadaanin ko nalang po sa tagalog para madali kong maeexplain problem ko….mga sir nung binili ko ung laptop ko tpos kinabit ko ung smartbro cable ng desktop ko gumana sya pero nung hugutin ko tapos ikinabit ko ulit inenter ko ung srn tsaka account no. ayaw naman masubmit ang nakalagay po dun gumamit ako ng ibng browser so i used IE kaya lang ganun pa rin ung error hindi pa rin masubmit tumawag na ako sa hotline pero hanggang ngaun wala pa rin sinubukan ko using router di na makaconnect ung desktop ko same as my laptop

try to disable your firewall and antivirus then run mo ulit ung browser mo mag reredirect na yan sa smartbro portal

I travel quite often and stay at two of our houses, so i use 2 desktops and a laptop, I’m a subscriber of both Smart Bro (since its the only ISP on the location of one our house) and PLDT DSL .. I don’t have a problem plugging in my notebook at the DSL connection, but with Smart Bro it was a difficult thing, i couldn’t connect using my notebook since it was initially installed/connected with my desktop, but i find a way thru it by following the advice from this thread (thanks’)… Thou i noticed yesterday, while i was attending a class for my MBA, i tried connecting to the wireless service within the campus, but i just couldn’t get connected, was cloning MAC(for the Smart bro connection) affects other network connections? like a wireless connection…

na encounter ko na rin yan na problem and have called smart hotline for the nth time and ang palagi nilang sinasabi is to monitor for 24 hours. We have done na all the trouble shooting steps na klangan…Pano ba gagana ang troubleshooting steps nila eh galing na mismo sa CSR nila na sa Higher technical support dapat manggagaling ang adjustments…Hay naku..this just proves smart has a lousy technical department with the worst customer service…pinapa troubleshoot ang mga customer nila na wala namang adjustment on their end..ginagawa nilang tanga ang mga customer nila….

SMART plan 999 is actually design for a single PC use. If your problem still exist then you better ask SMART’s Technical Support to make necessary system changes on your account.
Why not use a router instead of removing and plugging your LAN cable from one computer to another?

Imagine,nag download pa ko ng .flv para lang ma view ung solution sa problem ko, ala namang silbi hehehe… kaya inuulit ko ang pasasalamat sayo riderX at kay jorz na din…
pero may isa akong concern pa…. bakit sa LAN properties, Advanced tab ng pc nya, ayaw lumitaw ung pedeng i-click ang Internet Connection Sharing? Ang andun lang, e ung Windows Firewall Setting, ano kaya dapat kong gawin d2?
