Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART), through its subsidiary Smart Broadband, Inc. (SBI), today launched SMART Bro Share It, the country’s first broadband device built to enable multiple computers in a common area, such as a house, to have affordable and simultaneous but wireless, high-speed Internet access.
“Desktop computers and laptops have become more affordable, and more families are now able to purchase them for use at home. SMART Bro Share It will allow them to fully and efficiently maximize the use of these computing devices,” said Danilo J. Mojica, head of SMART’s Wireless Consumer Division.
SMART Bro Share It allows up to 5 computers, each given the option to be secured by the main user, to connect simultaneously to SMART’s nationwide HSPA network. HSPA is the latest evolution of the GSM technology, and is likened to having the high-speed, cable broadband experience delivered right to a mobile device.
SMART Bro Share It is available with a Plan 999 monthly subscription, which comes with up to 90 hours of Internet access, at speeds of up to 2 mbps in key cities in the country. Usage in excess of 90 hours will be charged P.35 for every minute.
Initial cash-out for the 12-month subscription is P3,499, which includes the one-time payment of P2,500 for the device, plus the first month’s fee of P999. The monthly subscription fee is P999.
Installing SMART Bro Share It is quick and painless, and instructions are available in every kit. Application for a subscription is likewise hassle-free, and interested individuals just need to present a valid ID with a current address at any SMART Wireless Center nationwide.
“By increasing the broadband options available to our subscribers, and giving them the freedom and flexibility to access the Internet the way they want it, wherever they are, we hope to eventually position mobile broadband as the gold standard in connectivity,” added Mojica.

Sayang naman, we have just renewed our subscription to plan 999 last march 4 and I have no idea about this.
Questions:
1) Is this any better than having an “antenna” on my roof top and using a wireless router (i.e.. linksys) ?
2) How can you guarranty a consistent strong signal availlability at certain location(Ex… Meycauayan, marilao,— etc.)
3) Why can’t your Present subscribers (say.. in Bulacan)
not able to connect to the internet when they are in
Baguio city during the lenten break? This refers to those
with wired roof antenna’s.
4) As an alternate … Can you provide short duration special “rooming” service to address #3 above.
the reason is technology infrastructure…. and if you will research in similar technology ginagamit din ng ibang bansa yung nakikita natin dito
Wala pa daw sila dun. di pa ba available nationwide yan “Share it”?
@josie, @vanessa
I got a Roughclaw reflector from http://www.roughclaw.com and my smartbroken speeds up incredibly without breaking!
The Roughclaw guys can set-up a home Wifi with affordable cost with your existing DSL. I think, it is just what you need.
They demonstrated their equipment for big entreprise and it’s really powerful.
@beng
curious lang. ano gusto mo ipaturo?
HIGH SPEED DAW! HIGH SPEED DAW! KALOKOHAN BA TOH?
@Smart Broken
Di kalolokan yan. Problema mo lang siguro malayo ka sa tower nila or may mga obstructions between your canopy and the service tower. Smart can’t do much about it. If they can, they should have done it. They can’t move the tower nearer to your home.
If you want to keep your smartbro, mag install ka ng Roughclaw reflector. Ngayon naka reflector na ako at ala akong problema kahit umuulan.
@Think Tank
malapit lng yung tower samin! dala-dalawa pa nga eh! yung isa yung sa moonwalk ba yun? yung malaking blue na tower
tapos yung isa sa basketball court medyo malapit samin
kahapon lng mabilis pa tong pc namin
ang download time 50kbps
ngayung naging 5kbps
ang saklap grabeh
di ako makaupload sa youtube
di ako makanood ng vids
di ako makalaro ng online games
grabeh kakaasar
@Smart Broken
Okay then, kung natatanaw mo yung tower, ala dapat problema. Line of sight dapat yung canopy sa tower at canopy mo.
Good luck!
dati lagi ako dumadaan ako dun sa smart tower na yun sa may basketball court tuwing pumapasok ako sa school kaso ngayon bakasyon na. kung di ako nagkakamali may bagong bahay na tinatayu dun. di lang ako sigurado. subukan kong silipin mamaya. dati kaya bumagal yung smart bro namin kasi may puno ng ipil ipil na humaharang kaya nilipat sa bubong. eh ngayon mukhang may nakaharang na naman. saan kaya pwede ilagay yung antenna?
@Smart Broken,
@Think Tank
mataas yung canopy namin eh. nasa bubong ng bahay namin. 2 floors bahay namin. anu po ba yung reflector? saan makakakuha nun? sorry ate di ako maka reply kaagad tagal kasi mag post eh. minsan naiistop pa
@Smart Broken
You can let their techs to explain kung ano ang sinasabi ko. Napakadaling kausapin mga techs. You can chat with them on YM or Skype.
sbro share-it basically is a wireless router my friend from smart told me that it is available only in metro manila, metro cebu and metro davao dut to limited coverage of HSPA Signal. may SIM Card din sya like sa sbro plug-it.
here goes the process
since limited lang ang coverage once you visit their office (smart wireless center) they need to check you location if its covered by HSPA signal, if YES at kung nakapag apply ka na ireregister mo ung location mo since yung device ID ng router mo eh nakalock sa basestation kung saan ka nakahome, so it means hindi mo sya pwede dalhin kung saan saan lugar dito sa pinas UNLESS nag file ka ng relocation, yes that’s possible pwede ka mg file ng relocation pra iregister yung Device ID mo sa ibang place)
35 cents/min .. so 21 pesos every 30 minute browsing hmmm..
@Think Tank
bumilis na ulit
500=kbps na ulit yung internet connection namin
ala ako ginagawa
yun lng bbye
@Smart Broken
Ok great. Enjoy surfing.
@Think Tank
bumagal na naman! kakainis! ngayung gabi lang
@Smart Broken,
Sorry to hear but I am expecting it. Maraming factors affecting wireless especially if you are in the urban. Got my point?
Kaya you have to have a very stable link para kahit may mga interefence, malakas pa rin sya. One of the very effective solution is the parabolic reflector.
@Think Tank
paano yun kung meron kaming plan 999 tapos magsusubscribe kami nito mawawala ba un? panu mangyayari? pls explain it to me furthermore,,,,
Smartbro,
I would like to complain on the bills which are keeping on coming on the doorstep wherein the contract has already lapsed a few months ago. The people in-charged with the billing section should take an accurate computation plus should be informed that the bills prior to the date of February 2009 were paid at the smartbro center (receiving machine). I wonder why many people say that the company “sucks”. I’ve recently read it from the internet from the comments of many people.
Stephen
mag kekwento lng…
2 days ago mabilis internet namin. ginamit ko speedtest.net. 0.50mbps ang download at 0.40mbps ang upload. wow bilis! sabi ko. tuloy tuloy upload ko sa youtube…then the next day habang nagiinternet ako biglang nawala…then bumalik nung tanghali tapos mabilis pa rin…tapos next day bumagal sa 0.40mbps yung speed…next day naging 0.20mbps…nagtaka na ako nun…ngayon bigla naging 0.10mbps! yung upload speed namin 0.03mbps. grabe bagal! di ako makanood sa youtube…tagal mag buffer…sobra…pangalawang beses na nangyari sakin toh pero bumalik din ng ilang araw…tumawag mama ko sa smart bro pati daw sila nagulat sa speed ng internet namin. sa tingin niyo anu po problema? help lng? wag niyo po ako sagutin ng reflector ha. yun lng bbye
@Smart Broken
Kumusta?
They must go to the field para malaman nila. Have a dice day.
Have a nice day!
@joshuallorca
If I will post in this forum comments para mumurahin ko ang mga taga Smart, do you think bibilis ang Smartbro mo? Kung mag complain nga tayong derecho sa Smart wala silang nagawa, dito pa kaya? I believe before you clicked that ‘POST YOUR COMMENT’ tab, you have read other’s comments too. Mostly complains and curses. Some posted suggestions hoping they could help. But look, how many have replied back and told everyone. ‘Hey, magaling na ang smartbro ko’. What I posted is a solution and if you think it’s not worth, you are free to have a DSL line. Thank you for posting though.
@joshua
totoong bumibilis yung internet kasi ikaw lang yung gumagamit pero yung sakin talagang bumagal…kahit madaling araw ganun pa rin…yung sinasabi nilang reflector maganda daw yun kaso ayaw naming gumastos eh…
PS. Joshua rin pangalan ko ahahahahahaha
bbye
We had been good customers at our part, at nagtiwala tayo. Only a stupid person would go for that since ang installation for DSL is just half of the price nung roughclaw. 7x faster than dial up. As of now most of us 7x pissed at their service na. Hindi ko kelangan magmakaawa sa kanila. 2 months cooperation and still no change in my connection this is bullshit. pati sila di na nila alam? don’t they try to tell na sa pc ang prob. authentic gamit ko OS at antivirus wtf. Realtime protection ang natatanggap ko from these companies. I shifting to DSL. kaya lang naman ako nagpakabit nito dahil walang choice that time. instead of saying go to roughclaw. wag ka nlang magsalita dahil 4,500 isn’t worth it ngaun crisis ngaun tol. daming options. di naman tataas sa 384kpbs net mo eh tumaas man di aabot ng 1mb and its not stable. suggestion ko lang kung pissed ka na talga.
If you want to share your smartbro with your other computers, even your neighbors, just buy a good quality wireless router like I did. You can have complete control over who connects by using mac address filtering or encryption.
I have an Senao outdoor wireless router that transmits 1 km to my wife’s store. It can transmit as far as 5 km line of sight. I use WAP encryption to keep out any freeloaders
ui ung plan 999 ba ng smartbro. ung unlimited 384kbps. pde ba i.wireless router yun? kasi diba nagreredirect bago makaconnect? pde ba? thanks kuing sino ka man.
Can this plan really provide up to 2mbps of internet connection?
The thing is, you can readily set-up a wireless router (mine was D-Link wireless router) with the unlimited 999 pesos plan. This would do find for a household with a desktops and laptops. The catch is, the speed would be limited to 512kbps. I tend to have an average speed of 512kbps day and night (except when there are storms). Pero okay na rin ung speed ko for the price. My family can use all of the computers within the house simultaneously with any major problems (except ‘pag nasira ung connection which happens in every 2 to 3 months for 3 to 6 hours or if somebody within the house is hogging up the bandwidth). That is to say na okay ang connection within your area (in our case, it was very evident). If not, then don’t bother. Also, I DON’T use that “rough claw” product they’ve been talking about.
Anyways, ang advantage lang nang “share-it” plan is that, they mention that the speed can go “up to” 2mbps. Now that would be a really BIG advantage over your traditional 999pesos plan, if only they DO work. Maayos lagi ang connection within our area so I’m very much tempted to try out this so called “share-it” plan. I’m trying to find neighbors who’ve tried it out but to no avail.
As for PLDT DSL, I really have no plans to change my subscription to them. I’ve surveyed my neighbors who use both PLDT DSL 1mbps and 3mbps plan. Their comments and answers to my question were quite disappointing. Subsequent disconnections and slow downloads/uploads were two of their major complaints. A neighbor of mine who had subscribed to a 3mbps plan gets an average of 1mbps download speeds (way below the speed that they’ve paid for).
Though disappointed, I say that it varies from area to area. In our case PLDT is not an option, but SmartBRO is.
lol I had too many typos.
you are advertising so many good things about your product and services when in reality it sucks like hell!!!!!
the intermittent connection and the low speed in direct contrast to what has been schemingly advertised is just a very few of the bad or even worst things experienced!!!
hope that in the future no more false advertising and truth must be realized…
Was that message for me? Amf. I’ve been a user for 2 years already. I’m not some dude from SmartBRO.
To mr/ms frostbyte:
I read your statement that says ‘you can readily set-up a wireless router (mine was D-Link wireless router) with the unlimited 999 pesos plan. This would do find for a household with a desktops and laptops….. . My family can use all of the computers within the house simultaneously with any major problems….’
In our household, we’re trying to have it done. We do have D-Link 8 port 10/100fast ethernet switch. We fix RJ45 for each desktop. I am wondering if the one you have (router) and the one we have (8port) are of different thing.
As per our connections, it is said that all are desktops are connected. The only thing is that everytime another person uses another desktop, nawawala ang connection nung unang unit na inopen, in short, only one unit can be used at a time.
Will you please help me fix our household connections? I am grateful if you share your knowledge into this Smartbro chronicles..Thanks..we really need your help very badly.
Good day to all,
I’m interested about this product. We have a pre-paid smartbro and it works well naman in our location. This is my set-up at home. I have a pc and a laptop. Will I just plug this “Share It” unit to my pc’s usb and be able to surf the net simultaneously with my laptop or other laptops?
Thanks in advance!
Lilibeth Romero,
u need a dsl router, to share your smartbro dsl and not 8port dlink switch is different
i agree with you fr0stbyte. becoz im satisfied with its service.maybe there’s a problem in their computer that’s why there connection is slow.. try to check this site guys for some info

yup pwede siyang i upgrade try to check the link that i post.
Available na ba ito sa PAMPANGA ?
im here at puerto princesa.
currently connected to an unknown wifi hosted somewhere inside the building, that is running on smart bro.
story behind this.
i was using my ipod when i was able to get a steady wifi signal.
i went home and got my usb wireless lan card to the office the following day and connected my computer to the internet using usb.
i then connected my computer to our local office network connected to 4 other pcs to whom i shared the internet connection i had access to.
aside from our office network of 5. we also have 3 laptops connected to the same wifi plus 3 cellphones and my ipod.
thats 12 internetconnections solely in our office.
i searched for the main wireless router via ip and was able to access it. whew talk about poor security. and found a lot more other computers connected to this wifi.
roughly 30 computers all connected to 1 smartbro connection.
well for YM and borwsing its a-ok. ^^
~ i got my own internet connection at home and there are times im hating it ^^
about the smart share it
5 computer access meaning 5 maximum?
Home network only or is it readily accessible by any wifi ready device?
can i lock the device for specific computers to use so as to block unwanted internet grabbers?
being a router does that mean its static? can only work where it was installed or can i carry it anywhere i go?
further more
i dont get it why the share it can have up to 2mbs
while the solo canopy can only have up to 512
but its just running at the same cost of 999
(well the unit is 2500 but doesnt the canopy cost as much as well?)
me too..
im really pissed off with tattoo
I just wonder if all the DL/UL rate of all version of the Share-It are the same.
I’ve been reading on ZTE website and it tells me that it varies from one model to another. If so, then isn’t possible to adjust the old version into better service?
tattoo is really sucks. i really want to change my plug it.
paolo.that’s the reality paolo.la tayo magagawa kung ganyan service nila
yeah paolo i agree with jojo. just change you ISP if your not satisfied w/ it
yeah men just change ur internet provider para masayahan ka na sa buhay mo
