   smart is just falsely advertising again. they are advertising the speeds of 3g/umts but they do not have the backbone to fully implement those speeds. in my neck of the woods we dont even have 3g signal from smart. buti pa globe.

   where can we complain? anybody?

   don’t be fooled! smart cannot deliver the speeds they promise. they never have and sadly they may never will.

    wala pa rin ito mga igan!!! bulok pa rin yan!!! gumagamit kasi sila ng HSDPA or high speed packet data access technology dito kaya mabilis yung delivery ng bandwith signal kaya up to 2Mbps (megabits per second) ang advertised nila pero ang bandwith guaranteed speed nila (eto yung 384kbps) same pa rin… ibig sabihin pwedeng pumalo nang 2M ang speed niyo pero 384 pa rin ang bandwith CIR niya… wala rin paasa epek lang yan mga igan para di lumipat ang ibang subscriber nila or i-boykot ang pagbayad ng billing dahil sa sobrang KAPALPAKAN NG BULOK NA TO!!! well maga2lit lang naman supplier nila sa HSDPA kasi lugi kapag di nila ginawa tong kalokohan na ito…

    in the end mga pare/mare wapak yan!!! japeke!!! maniniwala ako sa kanila kung:

    1. ang external IP ng canopy ang pinaka IP internal ng smartbro yung 125.60.XX.XX hindi yung 192.168.XX.XX (meron ng 121.XX.XX.XX sa bagong IP na naka HSDPA ang lugar nila.

    2.hindi pa rin saklaw lahat ng 2mbps na to… malalaman niyo yung base station eh HSDPA na kapag nakita niyo sa torre nila yung mahabang puti na antenna (mga approx 32 inches in height) na nakakabit sa torre yun yung HSDPA… kasi yung nakakabit sa kanila na mejo maliit pero payat motorola yun, yun yung 3G na 384 ang speed (ang ginagamit nila sa HSDPA ay Ericsson)

    3. eh kahit na naka HSDPA or up to 2mbps pa yan, wala pa rin kasi magtaka kayo may inaadvertise sila sa prepaid up to 2mbps pero sa canopy 384kbps… di ba ang gulo no? palpak na agad yun mga mare at pare di ba yun yung tinatawag na GAGUHAN?

    I’m a SMART BRO plan 999 canopy subscriber currently using my Desktop PC for internet browsing and I just want to ask if I can safely use my TOSHIBA notebook L35. It is stated in my manual that.

    Connect the built in modem only to ordinary analog phone lines.

    Never connect the built in modem to a digital line ISDN

    Never connect the built in modem to a digital connector on a public telephone or to digital private branch exchange PBX

    Never connect the built in modem to a key telephone system for residences or offices

    Connection to any communications line other than an analog phone line could cause a PC system failure.

    Do I have to buy an external modem for this even tough i have a built in modem?

    Ive tried to email smart customer service but they didnt reply.

    I hope you could help me out in this matter.

    Wala naman talaga kayong magagawa sa Smartbro nyo kahit e “tinker” nyo or e hack pa. Nasa kamay pa rin ng System administrator ng smart ana connection speed. At syempre, kung ano Plan nyo.

    Ang magagawa nyo na lang ay improve nyo ang arrangement ng antenna. Basahin nyo ang Selaplana blog, he’s not much of a technical thing but his approach is right. May mga descrepancy lang sa mga sinabi nya na kapag malapit ka sa tower eh the “greater frequency” ang narereceive mo. Siempre, I understand what he wants to convey. To elaborate it, kapag malapit ka sa AP(access point) ng SMART antenna, mas malakas ang ang RF power na narereceive mo at mas malakas din ang narerecieve ng AP sa antenna mo na subscriber module(SM).

    Sino ba taga Bagong Barrio dito. At gaano kabilis ang connection ninyo? Sakin mula nun nakaraang bagyo na nawalan ng connection ayun nagkalokoloko na connection ko. Laging napuputol ng about 5 secs at bumabagal minsan. Oo 5 secs pero kung naglalaro ka ng online games or nagdodownload ka sobrang nakakaasar at pag may kausap ka sa net napuputol din communication ninyo. Tagalang sobra at grabeh. Nag quickfix na ako at may problema antenna ko. Bwisit na smart toh consistent pa naman ako magbayad.

    I am a subscriber of smart bro for a couple of months now. I lately encountered a problem in my connection. I then called their hotline. I was shocked when they told me that they are gonna repairing my connection after 3days. I have no choice but to wait… Pero nung nag-apply ako kabit agad.

    remember that KBps (Kilobytes) is greater than kbps (kilobits).
    1 byte = 8 bits. wag nyo po sabhin na 50 or 125KBps lng connection speed nyo. multiply 50 by 8, and that’s 400kbps and 125 by 8, that’s 1000kbps. Anyway, dun lng tlga sa mga tatanga tangang hindi nkakaintindi what smartbro really offers. nung una hndi ko rin alam un, kaya aun, pti ako victim. hehe! and I’m planning to try different connection, maybe globe or sun. whatcha think!

    Ang smartbro ay kailangan Line-of-sight (walang naka harang) sa antenna nyo at nasa range ka. Acceptable range ay 2km. Pero kung malayo ka d2 pwede mo palakasin ang signal na na tatanggap ng antenna at ibinabato nito sa smart tower gaya ng pag gamit ng reflector. Ma mi minimize din ang interference signal. Kaya malapit ka man o malayo mas maganda kung may reflector.

    Eto website ng reflector ng vendor d2 sa Pinas. Ok sa akin at walang problema..kahit umuulan o gabi..nasa 3.8km ang layo ko sa smart tower.

    I think you guys are being unrealistc. I connect to T-Mobile network in the uk a (3.6 meg service) in a big City.. fastest you’ll see at burst is about 400kbps but normally nearer 100-200.. if your getting 125kbps reguarly, thats not too bad.

    Depends a lot on your cell site ur connected too… also theres plenty of compression managers you should ues if your web browsing that iwll help

    Ako nagtataka bakit ang daming negative feedback sa smartbro samantalang yung aking connection eh sobrang bilis daig pa yung ibang ISP dito sa aming lugar na nag-ooffer ng 2mbps, samantalang yung connection ng SMARTBRO eh 384kbps lang.     Yung 2Mbps advert for SmartBro Wifi for sure 3G / HSPDA yan: Per experience with Globelines 3G (With ZTE MF600) and few taste of that USB modem of SmartBro I conclude that 3G Network of the Two provider (Smart & Globe) are still on development stage and very unstable. Why?

    Based on my experience (Globelines):
    1. Though pingging an Internet IP e.g. 208.67.222.222 -t gives you a consistent replies with almost no RTO but when browsing the WEB with the above condition, You will get an error “Page cannot be displayed… make sure you are connected….”. This I cannot understand why is it that way.

    2. given the same condition above in pingging any Internet Address, Running or using TeamViewer (a remote administration Tool) it sometimes prompt you an error not connected to the internet, please try again later even though you can see that ping replies were consistent.

    3. It seems their network does not allow us to use an alternative DNS servers (i.e. OPenDNS Servers and some public NDS servers like 4.2.2.1, etc…) and will force your connection to use their Internal DNS Server which I percieve inefficient in resolving Domain Names. Why, here are my observations: example you are to ping google.com, i.e. ping google.com -t, usually the first 2 packets (at most) being sent returns RTO but the succeeding ones are consistently OK. Why is it? Can anybody cite possible reasons?

    I have a suggestion to all….if yung antenna nyu ay may naka harang na kahit ano…eg(tree,or bahay) maka apekto yan sa signal nang smartbro nyu… try nyu na free yung antenna nyu sa kahit obstacle…at isa pa at least malapit kayu sa site antena ng smartbro.. peru pag malu na kau.. dun maka ranas kau nang mga choppy connection.. and the worst thing walalng signal..hahahaha…^^

    Kagagaling ko lang ng singapore(01/18/09) and im amazed sa kanilang broadband service, dahil sa kumpetensiya pabababaan sila ng bayad sa broadband kahit sa wireless broadband nila, pagandahan ng promo, you can even get a new laptop if you subscribe the higher one, 1000+(converted to peso)and you can have up 10mbps na connection and they really deliver that speed, I have used 1 usb modem up there, from Starhub(one of the internet providers there), for only S$26, meron ka nang 5mbps na speed, hows that Smart Bro, P700+ lang yun pero ang taas ng binibigay nila, dapat ganun din kayo, kahit na di kayo magbigay ng ganyang kababa pero at least sana tuparin niyo yung advertised speed, well sana someday ay magkaroon na rin ng malakas na competition dito para naman magkaroon na ng magandang service…kasi yung smartbro na binili ko na prepaid, sucks ang bagal dahil selected areas lang ang merong hsdpa na signal, sana upgrade na nila lahat cellsite nila para naman sulit ang pinambayad namin…

    Bought smartbro prepaid 2 days back. Did speedtest from Binan, Laguna, on my recently bought HP laptop.

    Speed Results:
    download: 284 kbps
    upload: 15kbps

    Is that fast?!!!

    this is the most shitty connection ever! i tried to download battle realms stand alone size 532mb and it took me SEVEN hours!! 2am to 9am, buti at di naputol yung konekxon, and i can’t surf while downloading or else aabot ng 14hours ang download, max speed nya pag mag download is 30kbps, pero ang friend ko na naka PLDT myDSL 55mins lang tapos na ung 532mb na battle realms, son of a cow… smartbro ayusin nyo to!!!!

    it really sucks the brain out of me! it’s been 3 months of no internet, then when I came along smartbro center to ask for a 1 month refund, the customer care representative reacted at me on why I took so long to follow-up, at the back of my mind i was saying SHIT!, anyways I’ll won’t get back the refund because there’s so many process to go, actually the internet connection does not belong to me it was named to somebody else, but im the one paying for it. the person can nowhere to be contacted.

    it is true. a kilo byte (kB) is bigger than a kilo BIT (kb).. it takes 8kbps to make 1kBps :))

    example lang diyan eh meron kang supot ng mansanas, merong lamang 8 mansanas ung supot pero iisang supot lang un. Gago ka pala eh mag-aral ka ng math bago ka magreklamo diyan.

    Pa-Imbestigador na yang mga yan. Halos 1 month na paputol putol Connection namin dito wala pa rin aksyon ang Smart BRO. Sinungaling pa Customer Support nila, sinubukan kong tumawag 5 times na sunod-sunod at one point then iba’t iba ang reasons nila kung bakit nagpuputol putol yung Connection.

    - Can’t Access My Antenna so wala daw aming Connection (Kahit meron Connection at around every 5 minutes napuputol)
    - May problem daw sa Base Station (Dito maniniwala pa ako).
    - Sira daw PC ko. (Wow, nice, ang ayus-ayos ng PC ko ira daw).
    - Wag daw ako gumamit ng FireFox, Internet Explorere daw para magkaron akong Connection (Huh?)
    - May Virus daw PC Ko (Na-detect daw nila, what? ORLY?)

    Di ko alam kung matatawa ako or mabibwiset sa reasons nila.

    to those who are still planning to buy smart bro, this is what my honest advice to you. think of it first, as smart bro performance is this.

    1. if you are a field worker, well, smart bro is not advisable to you, as it only gets 1 bar to other places away from metro cities.

    2. Smart bro when you first connect, is rate up to 100 kbps. but as it you go browsing, it gets down to 0.54 kbps so you will unable to browse even a single page. especially at night the maximum is 45 kbps.

    3. the maximum download rate was 50 kbps. so you will spend 50 pesos per song, only depends to the source.

    4. sometimes, connection of smart bro are not available specially on weekends or holidays.

    5. mostly, it hungs up even you just downloading a single 340 kb pictures.

    thats my advice, so if you are still willing to spend you thousand bucks to worthless gadget, and spend more prepaid loads to god damned connection, go on.

     I just checked my connection speed and umabot nga ng 2 Mbps, 2 months ago nde lumalampas ng 300kbps. I’ve been a smartbro plan 999 unlimited (fixed canopy) user for 5 months now and I’ve never had any problems since Day 1. I’ve never lost connection and I’m very happy about the speed, specially now na 2 Mbps na sha…I guess depende talga sa area.

     pa try nyo check pc nyo kung sa tingin nyo bumabagal, possible infected system nyo. kung wala namang infection, possible no line of sight sa area nyo, recomendation ipa transfer nyo ang antenna kung saan kita ang tower ng smart. 4 years na akong user ng smartbro 999. at di ako pumapayag na di nila ma check ang antenna ko sa roof kung may technical visit ako.

     Bulok talaga ang SmartBRO, dapat yan inerereklamo sa DTI eh. Mapapapansin lang naman nila at aayusin yan kapag ang nagreklamo eh mataas or may katungkulan sa gobyerno. Kahit kailan talaga ang mga taong nagpapatakbo ng Smart. Tapos yung mga CSR nila ang bobobo pa parang robot binabasa lang lahat ng sinasabi.      I am no fan of SMART but base from what I’ve heard they are simply on top. Though you will easy find too much complains well it normal because they are being patronized. And one thing with every Juan Dela Cruz, complaining is one of our traits.

     i think almost all users of different plug it in phil had lots of complain on their connection. kasi wala naman mabilis na connection dito sa pinas kasi we dont have our own satellite para sa net connection kaya mabagal talaga kung minsan ung connection.

     Ako 3 yrs na sa Smartbro canopy, pero wala kasi ibang provider dito sa amin, ito na pinaka mabilis dito sa province namin particularly ABRA..kaya stick nalang ako dito until ma-upgrade yung globe tower namin to HSDA or 3g.. for the Globe innove..sarap daw ito ang bilis meron na sa kabilang bayan.

     AVG DL ko is 30kbps. a lot better parin than gprs globe tattoo ang smart prepaid kits.
