Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
I’ve installed a router lately and I’ve noticed my DL speed went up. From the usual 30KB/s to 65KB/s, I can now download around 100KB/s to 270KB/s, sometimes it tops 420KB/s depending on source.
I recently downloaded iTunes/Quicktime from Apple using my niece’s PC and my DL speed was around 400KB/s, downloading Skype installer on my PC was close to 170KB/s and I also downloaded the Gran Turismo 5 trailer via BitTorrent, and luckily my DL was 250KB/s+
I wonder if Smart might increase my billing statements due to the speed increase. Sana naman huwag.
I just hope this would last for a long time. =)

100 kBps+? Your internet connection speed must be somewhere around 1 mbps. Good for you, your AP must have been uncapped (no bandwidth manager installed).
Anyway, Smart won’t be increasing your bill since they’re negligent to monitor and manage their subscriber bandwidth allocation in your area.
I think this might be a glitch in their systems, as I am not the only one who’s experiencing this.

hi, i’m not a techie, so i’ll have a lot of questions:
is there another way to increase speed other thatn the router? btw, wat is a router, and how much would it cost me to get one installed?
pls help, i’v just been classified by hotmail as a SLOW CONNECTION and put me back to classic version. Also, i can no longer view good videos, like, youtube, etc.
a chek with my smartbro status says, speed:10Mbps. just last month, it was 100Mbps! how do i go back to 100? and…… how & where do i get the upload/download speed everyone here is talking about?
pls help. and…. earth english language pls….
eliean. you can only use the router to share your connection with other devices po.
regarding the speed increase I’ve had. siguro nagkaroon lang ng bug sa base station. kasi after a week my connection went off, I called Smart tech support then their team went here to fix it. nawala pala yung base station eh kung saan ako recently naka-connect. my canopy was not able to detect it. We had to rescan and change color codes for it to work back like normal 384kbps. ganito rin reports sa ibang forums and sites.
anyways, you can optimize your connection by using CableNut.

or if you like tweaking, you can also tweak your canopy settings manually.
then regarding the 10Mbps, normal lang ata yun. ganun din sa akin when connected directly. but when connected thru router, it goes back to 100Mbps. but the again that’s just the network speed and not the actual internet speed.
you can also use Smart’s official speed tester.

HTH and good luck with your internet.
ah, ok. thank you JDM1.
but i have another question. if i run the quikfix2, it says, LAN CARD CANNOT BE DETECTED. but im connected to the internet! what does it mean?
baka busy yung LAN Card during the time of check or may bug sa quickfix mismo. I don’t really know.
I only use it to check Gateway and W-Gateway…
i got same situation with eliean, the time you open quickfix2 it ask if you want to run diagnostic test but then it will respond na “LAN CARD CANNOT BE DETECTED”
crazy thing
