Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Stupid Smart Bro technical support. I was at work and I had my girlfriend who was at home to re complain about the loss of my home internet connection. They made her look up stuff and found out something about my local IP address was wrong. Their solution? They told my girlfriend to upgrade my OS. What the fuck?!? Aside from the OS having no bearing on what my IP address is because I obtain my address automatically from the router antenna they installed, they have the nerve to tell me that I need to upgrade my Windows XP?!? They should be shot, stoned, flayed, and burned alive.
I called the support line myself and made my feelings on their response very clear. Now they tell me that my antenna may not be pointing to the base station; they think it might have been messed with somehow. My theory is those damn cats always running on my roof are to blame. Now, if those idiots at Smart just said something like this before then it would have saved me some time to get it fixed.

i remember one time when we called regarding the connectivity with our laptops. they were asking techy questions, my cousin couldn’t answer them because she did not know much about techie things, so they simply said that they could not do anything to help us. idiotic, really. they didnt even at the least try to describe what they were asking for.
here’s my advice sir. in order to fix your connection try these po:
go to control panel / network connections / local area connection.
then select TCP / IP, click properties. select use the following IP address.
type in 169.254.3.3 for IP address and 255.255.0.0 for subnet mask. click OK then close.
at this point your internet connection might disconnect. if that’s the case, wait for it to recoonnect again.
now open your browser and go to http://169.254.1.1
go to tools. and click ap evaluation.
it will rescan all available access points / base stations in your area.
there will be a list. simply select a base station. each base station has a corresponding color code. select its color code.
once you’ve picked a color code. go to configuration and select radio.
there’s a space where you can type in your new color code. simply type it in.
click save. then click reboot. wait for your connection to disconnect and reconnect again.
once reconnected. go back to your browser and follow the prompt. (it’s usually “click here to continue” or somethign like that)
once connected. go again to control panel / network connections / local area connection. then select TCP / IP, click properties. then this time click obtain ip automatically.
you’re now connected to a new base station.

tip: kung mawalan ulit ng connection, or hindi gumana at first. ulit ulitin lang hanggang makaconnect sa “perfect” base station / color code. minsan kasi down din yung base station or puno na yung capacity niya.
siya nga pla, after the procedure when you access your internet, theres a 90% chance na magredirect siya sa smart portal due to the new settings. just log on using your smart username and password and wait for it to automatically re-activate your connection. that’s it.
isa pang pahabol, dapat din directly connected kayo sa smart bro / smart wi-fi ninyo in order for this to work. if you have a router tanggalin ninyo nalang muna and directly connect the smart internet to your main pc.

so, does that mean if youre using a router, they cant help you in any friggin way?
archaven, you can only access the smart canopy settings via direct connection. if you’re using a router just remove it first before tweaking/changing the settings. then ‘pag ayos na, you can put it back naman din.
Yeah! I agree.. like walang kasing impolite! they can be as rude as hell, and like they do nothing but file a report, and make-up stories about your inability to connect.
I called in coz we got no connection. pero while on queue, i was powercycling everything, then the moment na may agent na na sumagot, i got my connection back, pero i told the agent wala ako connection, then she asked for account details, then she asked me to powercycle, i told her i already did that, sher asked me for the ip address, and all the pinghing stuff, then hold music, d man lang nag paalam na i’ll be on hold, then nung bumalik, she told me may problema kasi ang base station, and i have to wait within 24 hours. i said ok.. hahahaha.. amazing service. liars. walang pinagkaiba sa phone support ng smart gold.
Well in their hotline? Probably, yes. But in their higher level tech support ( the one who call you when you directly report to their wireless center ) - polite, well-trained, educated and oh - licensed ece engineers, I think. ( as my friend have told me, not actually all of them but 80-90% of it were engineers. the other 20% were all higher level IT or ECE graduates from reputable school).

baka binabasa lang nila yung mga reply nila sa mga customers kaya pare-pareho sagot =)
mali yung IP address? yan yung times na down yung connection nila. nangyayari din yan sa akin. so far narerestore naman yung connection ko after an hour or two. di na ko tumatawag sa support nila, lang kwenta. FTP lang di nila alam.
If they dont know what to do with my issues really, its ok, go file the report and escalate to someone who can help me. its absolutely fine. Yung nakaka inis lang is yung manner nag pag treat nila ng caller. impolite lang talaga. i think we customers dont deserve it. common courtesy lang sana.
and it never matters if they got engineers and all like what kAnGkEr is saying, fine. They may know what to do. sure. But do we benefit from it? saan ba sila? like i how do i get help from them ba? I have to go to the wireless center physically? if thats the case, eh anu pa silbi ng phone support? They got people who can help me pala eh, why dont they put these people behind the phones so that pag tumawag tayo may makakatulong at may magalang sumagot?
Suggestion lang naman sir kung di kayo makatawag sa hotline. Kasi mahirap tumawag diba? kung may malapit na wireless.. pwede rin kayo dun pumunta para sila na mismo tatawag… pero pwede rin sige tyaga na lang sa hotline.. hehehe..

Actually di na ako nagpalit ng IP address sa TCP/IP Properties. Browse ako agad sa http://169.254.1.1 and started tweaking from there.

Hello.. Mak here, from Baesa, Caloocan.. I have three inquiries for anyone knowledgeable:
1.) Since PLDT dsl is not available in our area due to port unavailability, im planning of subscribing to Smart’s Bro(..ken?? hehe) wireless internet connection since that is only the only available option here other than dial up. Is there anyone here from the same place who can advise me on the quality of smart’s connection in the area? I need to know before I subscribe, since there’s a one-year lock in period and I dont wanna suffer the entire year from poor connection and waste money.
2.) Second: If ever i get subscribed, i plan to carry with me the antenna to the province during the summer. Will it work there, provided there’s a base station in the area? And can i do the modem/canopy configuration myself to make it work or do I really need to see the closest wireless center in the area for the re-configuratoin(which requires a thousand bucks payment)?
3.) Finally, can anyone comment on which is better and more “sulit” in terms of quality of service: SmartBro vs. Globelines’ Wireless Broadband..

i actually emailed them telling my sentiments sa customer service nila and they did not even give a damn to say sorry for all the hustles i have experienced. just an email asking about my complaint. kaya i’m always a globe subscriber sa cell coz i hate dealing with smart’s customer service. bukod sa ang tagal nila mag hold, sorry for the term, pero ang T*N%a nila. basta they are very inefficient to the MAX!

pagkatapos ng lock-in period ko nwalan ako ng internet tapos after 2days meron nnmn kung kelan bayantel na ako.. mga bobo tlga cla. kala nila babayaran ko un. neknek nila mas mabilis pa ang bayandsl noh sus dont waste ur time with smartbro iiyak lng kayo…
hi there! it was fun to know that there’s this kind of website dedicated for subs to pour out their sentiments against smart’s services. i’ve been a csr for smart buddy’s hotline and i tell u people there are really dumb, well not really all but ALMOST. they don’t even know how to pronounce “CACHE” correctly. nakakahiya tlga sa mga subs na marurunong. kaya lucky for me na i already resigned asap bago pa q mahawa sa level ng IQ ng iba sa kanila. although i can’t blame those agents kc pag may anything na bagong promo/service eh they are not properly oriented. halimbawa magugulat na lang ung mga agents na may bagong promo/service na pla ang smart, at kanino nila nalalaman? sa subs na tumawag at nag inquire/complain tungkol sa promo/service na un. tapos pag mag e-escalate k ng call sa TL or ATL eh paiiyakin ka muna bago nila i-take ung call. grabe parang takot na takot sumagot ng tawag. ang i tell u people there are really trained to give the subs the same answer. and they will NEVER EVER ADMIT that they have problem on their services kahit na sobrang obvious, laging sa subscriber ang problema kaya useless ang tumawag sa any hotline ng smart unless it’s smart infinity’s hotline where the ratio of agent per subscriber is 1:1 daw.

oddly enough..IT WORKED! [so far]….didnt need to do the 1st step of changing ip/subnet..could go directly to the http://169.254.1.1/ and change it from there..

Well I unplugged the cable from the antenna to my desktop network card and stuck it into my laptop to go online and it immediately went to the smartbro portal of which I could not get out of no matter what I tried to do. Now why can’t I use my smartbro account with my laptop? Is there anything I can do otherthan waste alot of time talking to a bunch of numbnuts to tweak a setting in the canopy to get it to work on my laptop? Have never had any problems otherwise using smartbro, just want to be able to have both hooked up to the same source.

yung port 25, smartbro lng din mkkaunblock non, smartbro kc gamit mo sa yung SDT ng port 25 ng email,own ny smartbro. , sa knila k n lng humingi ng alternate port if you want.

Actually, pwede pumasok settings ng canopy kahit nka router.
Example:
Canopy IP: 10.123.45.156
Router IP: 192.168.1.1
Do this:
Change router settings to Static IP:
Internet IP: 10.123.45.156
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 10.123.45.156
Primary DNS: 192.168.1.1
Save the settings. Open your browser and type in address:
http://10.123.45.155
You can now see your canopy settings. After changing settings of your canopy, go to your router’s settings again and set it to Dynamic. Save. Exit.
In this way, di mo na kelangan alisin sa router ung canopy mo.
Have fun. Di alam ng tech support ito. Wla sila alam sa networking, e. Ang alam lng nila netstat, tracert, ipconfig, or ping.

hey guys, here in 4th district laguna mabilis naman ang response ng technical support nila, kahapon lang ako tumawag sa customer service dahil nasira ang adaptor ng smartbro ko and kanina dumating agad sila at nireplace agad nila, good thing walang bayad yung replacement…. plus good points sa smartbro ‘to!
Palagi din ganito smart bro ko,hindi makapasok sa level up games at hindi rin maupdate yong gameguard sa linaegeII. nagstart pa last August 29,2008, ilang days na wala pa rin.Hindi tuloy ako makalaro. Guys patulong naman po I’m a SMART BRO plan 999 canopy subscriber currently using my Desktop PC for internet browsing and I just want to ask if I can safely use my TOSHIBA notebook L35. It is stated in my manual that.
Connect the built in modem only to ordinary analog phone lines.
Never connect the built in modem to a digital line ISDN
Never connect the built in modem to a digital connector on a public telephone or to digital private branch exchange PBX
Never connect the built in modem to a key telephone system for residences or offices
Connection to any communications line other than an analog phone line could cause a PC system failure.
Do I have to buy an external modem for this even tough i have a built in modem?
Ive tried to email smart customer service but they didnt reply.
I hope you could help me out in this matter.

Get to a command prompt. to get in there just go to START>RUN tapos sa text box type mo to—>CMD
pag lumabas n yung command prompt(yung kulay black)
type this—>ipconfig /release
then follow this steps:
Shut down computer.
Turn off computer.
Turn off all ethernet hubs/switches.
Turn off cable/DSL modem.
Leave off overnight.
Turn everything back on.
Network with Router
Log into the router’s admin console. (Often http://192.168.1.1/)
Release the IP address. (Method varies by router manufacturer)
Turn off router, ethernet hubs/switches, and the cable/DSL modem.

If you are using a cable/DSL modem and a router, you may wish to connect your computer directly to the cable/DSL modem. Please note that this could significantly impact your system security. This allows your ISP’s DHCP to issue you a new (hopefully changed) IP address based of the (hardware) MAC address of your computer’s ethernet card.
