Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Mr. Bongisnay of Tanza – email me @ cavite.man@gmail.com so we can share our misfortunes on smart bro experience. BTW im from Tanza Also. Regarding the your problem with the trojan virus, try downloading the Kaspersky Anti-virus its free from the Net. Browse mo lang sa Google then U can download it for free. Well ive got also disconnected last Sunday nite @ around 10:30pm… i have tried to call the *1888 CSR of Smart ive got no answer even if their phone ring for around 10 minutes. Sumakit na tenga ko. Then the following nite around 8pm.. I called again to smart CSR *1888 , im already prepared with a headset connected to my celfon… the ringing last for around 30minutes….di na ako nangalay thanks to the celfone headset, then saka lang may sumagot sa line.
The operator ask me to Ping 10.0.0.1 and Ping xxx.xxx.xx etc.
both pings show no loss but when browsing i could nor connect to the internet. I even told the operator the i have used the Quick Fix softwaere from their site (parang di nya alam kun ano yun). Pina IPconfig, IP/release, IPconfig/reset.
At pina restart twice pc ko. So far nothing changes, di pa rin
ako maka connect sa internet but i am able to connect sa smart bro portal. Pina-disable at enable pa yung LAN card ko (i am using a D-link LAN card). Wala pa din nagyari. Then thev operator ask me to wait for 24 hours, & if still i could not connect then i should call CSR *1888 Again! . Then Yesterday nite October 17, 2006 around 7pm- i was suddenly able to connect to the internet. I did not do anything it just happens, pero as usual super bagal pa rin connection, mas mabilis pa ang dial-up.
Also my fellow Smart Bro users…. Mrunong ba kayong gumamit ng Google Earth?…. kindly post po kung alam nyo ang mga SMART Cellsites the Philippines then post it to this blog site & also put a Place mark on the Smart Cellsite… I think makakatulong po ito para maitapat directly ang Canopy antenna sa pinaka malapit na Cellsite.
By the way sa google earth po ay maaring makita the arial view, kuha po ng satellite ang mga place. Its like a map pero pictures ng earth.

@caviteman
hindi malo-locate sa google earth or even sa wikimapia ang cell site locations ng smart…
@airnolds
to change your cellsite, you need to access your canopy homepage. since di mo alam ang exact location ng base station na malapit sayo, the best thing na pede mo gawin e trial and error.
NOTE:gawin mo lang ito pag sure ka na gusto mo talagang mgpalit ng base station.
How to tweak your Smartbroke-back motorola canopy…
1. Go to your web browser, type “169.254.1.1″ to access the canopy interface. In case the canopy configuration page didnt show up, go to local are connection properties and click Internet Protocol->properties. Enter Ip address 169.254.1.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 and hit OK. You can now view your canopy configuration status.
2. You will be brought to the “STATUS” page. The navigation tabs are located at the left panel.
3. For a good connection, the word “REGISTERED” must be written in the “session status” and the “Jitter value should be low (lower=less interference).
4. Now return to the navigation panel, go to “Configuration”. The only value here that will concern you is the “Color Code” value.
5. Return to the navigation panel and then choose “AP Eval Data”. This is the most important aspect since this is where the available AP or Access Point for every connection is displayed. Every AP is separated by ************. This is where the technicians look for signal during the canopy installation. You can also change the signal by repositioning the antenna or simply turning it while clicking “Rescan APs”. The values will change depending on the signal strength being received. You can view how many users are connected to a specific base station by clicking AP EVAL DATA. Its important to know that Jitter and RSSI data is important. Having a lower Jitter is good and having a higher RSSI value than 800 is also better.
The Important factors here are:
a. “Multipoint Avail” – In order to know if the canopy has a signal to the base station, its value must be “1″, “0″ means no signal.
b. “SectorUserCount” – Shows how many connections are using that particular AP.
6. Return to the “Configuration” tab if you were able to get a good AP signal AP, change the “color code” value with the value you get from the scan AP process. Click save changes then reboot.
7. Now return to the status page and hit refresh until you see that the word “REGISTERED” is displayed,(You can also see your canopy’s distance from the AP here). If you receive the words “scanning or registering” just continue hitting the refresh tab until “registered” comes up. Make sure you have a low jitter level (If its greater than 11, this means that there is too much interference and you need to find a new AP).
8. If everything works out fine (You’re “REGISTERED”, have Good Jitter levels) proceed with testing your connection by pinging google, or some other test you have in mind. Exit then open your browser and you will be redirected to the smart portal where you will be required to input your password so that it will update (Use the password from the first installation). Save changes then reboot.
NOTE 1: Make sure that you clear all LOGS from the canopy page.
NOTE 2: You can also check your connection to the Base station by clicking LINK TEST. This test will show you how efficient your connection to the base station.
NOTE 3: Warning changing anything might damage your antenna if you dont know what your doing so don’t save anything.
NOTE 4: Just change your Lan IP connection to automatic if you want to browse again. If you cant connect..then just ipconfig/release and /renew again to refresh your ip address.
