Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers
Not sure if anybody’s gone through this before, but I too used to have the regular not-so-great Smart Bro connection everybody else has (always disconnecting, slow speeds despite late hours, etc.). Could only get decent surfing done around 8 pm onwards (never connected on weekdays/weekends from morning to the afternoon, I might add), and not really as fast as I imagined things would be.
At one point, though, my connection just indicated that the network cable is unplugged, hence no Net. Called that help line, went through the same customer care dialogue, and have also just been recently told that they are escalating something to whatever higher level. Fine. From what I’ve read in the entries, it seems it’ll take them forever to finish this. Not sure if my antenna is fine (can’t check it since I can’t reach the roof), but I think it’s ok since I tried attaching a laptop to the cable, and it auto-redirected to the SMART portal site. Does that mean the Wi-Fi is fine, and it’s just my PC that’s acting up?
Can anybody help me try and figure out what the hell I need to check before I pester their customer service again? I’m thinking there has to be some process I could try first to see what really is wrong with my connection, since I don’t think they’ll be very helpful after following up again, and even if they do help, they’ll be charging me for it.
Any information you can provide would be helpful.

FarOutFreak try to check or replace your landcard….
there are cases kasi that in your taskbar LanCard icon is connected but if you try to ping 10.0.0.1 -t request time out sya….
try also to ping your canopy antenna @ 169.254.1.1 -t (if your installer not converted your canopy antenna to 10 series may reply dapat sya)….
….. but it the connection is ok by using your laptop try to replace you Desktop Lan Card first……….
I’m getting no pings, since ipconfig says that the Local Area Connection has a status of “Media Disconnected”. As such, the icon indicates that the connection is unplugged. I’m just trying to figure out whether it’s a problem with the antenna or something else entirely.
Try ko rin muna palitan yung LAN card. Feeling ko matagal pa namang magfo-follow up ang Smart kung may problema talaga ako e.
if u replace ur lancard besure that it is properly detected…. and be sure to have it on Obtaine setting on TCP/IP Config. thanks….
Yung problema mo baka sa lan card ng pc mo. Kung nung kinabit mo sa laptop ay naredirect ka sa smart portal then ok yung connection mo. Try mo muna mag surf gamit yung laptop mo. Kapag naredirect ka sa smart portal, login ka lang tapos sundan mo yung instructions. Kapag pinaparestart yung pc mo, mag renew ka lang ng ip (ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew). Dapat makapag browse ka na kahit google. Hope this helps.
faroutfreak, the problem is not with any of your hardware in your desktop, it with the smart bro already, because i have the same situation as yours, may dad and i share with this stupid connection cable, ganun tlga pag ng rredirect sa smartbro page, ncconnect cya tapos mwwla din, trust me araw2 namin ginagawa ng dad ko un kc lagi din cyang gumagamit, it may seem may connection sa laptop pro mwwla din un,, ung una nga tinawanan ako ng tatay ko kc sbi nya buti nga daw sakin wla akong connection sa desktop ko pro sa laptop nya mron but i ended up laughing at him kc all of a sudden nwalan din cya and also ung unang installation ngttaka rin ako kung bkit pg kinakabit sa laptop ng dad ko meron connection pro sakin wla,, pro wla un, kc ilang BESES NKO NGPAREFORMAT and changed my LAN CARD, wLng nangyari,, ganun tLga!! buLOk LNg tLGA!! i dont know woth ur case but mine happened that way and it’s sh*t,, hope u read this.
just format your laptop i have the same problem before the fucking portal always loadsup everytime i open a internet browser and the connection is on and off so i decided to format it then is fine now no problem by the way i call the fucking costumer service of smartbro then give me some fucking instruction and theres nothing happen i just waste my time talking there….just format ur laptop and desktop and reinstall everything thats the solution that solve my problem…
Im having the same problem!!! can i request a new cable from smart?!!
