SmartBro and Web Hosting at Home

Dec 28, 2006 Author: goodytwoshoes | Filed under: Technical Advice

I’ve really registered here to ask just this question: Can I or can I not host my own website using my SmartBro connection? By this, I mean setting up my own web server under my own computer and enabling files from my computer to be shared (on a limited basis) across the Internet. To anyone who truly knows the answer, please comment on this post. I just need to know. Thank you po. :D

Smartbro Hack

Nov 23, 2006 Author: xjhay | Filed under: Smart Wifi News, Technical Advice

I just want your opinion guys… i just found one hack for Smartbro…

I’m asking for your opinion:

a.) I’m going to let the Smartbro engineers know about the hack and ask for some reward.
b.) I’m going to spread the hack to everybody via email or just post it here.

Just trying to be nice here…

Some point about the hack… as long as you have the canopy CPE antenna you can use the smartbro services… for free…
well… this is what I’m using now…

thats it for now…

Connection Problem on Changing PC

Nov 4, 2006 Author: sbvitug | Filed under: Customer Complaint, Technical Advice

I subscribed to Smart Wifi because my work required me to. So basically I’m using a laptop to connect to the internet because it contains files which I need to get into the company’s network.

However, when I’m at the office my wife used to connec to the internet on our desktop PC using same Smart Wifi connection. During the first month I don’t have problems switching between my laptop and desktop, however just last night and at this very moment while I can connect now using my desktop, my laptop cannot.

My laptop detect 100MBPS connection but I cant access the internet anymore or even the smart page wherein you supposed to input you username and password doesn’t display anymore. Sorry I haven’t reported this to smart yet because btw my globe land phone don’t have a dial tone again (hehe the reason I go gor wireless).

Anybody out there can help me out… Thanks in advance.

DHCP Enabled

Oct 24, 2006 Author: fluxie | Filed under: Technical Advice

I’ve made the mistake of enabling DHCP from http://169.254.1.1 yesterday (as a result of tinkering) because i can no longer access the Canopy page, and there is no way to disable it anywhere else. I’ve tried changing the TCP/IP Properties, but nothing really helps. After a week of not being able to connect to the internet due to Milenyo, I was finally back online earlier today, which was a surprise for i really don’t know what it is i did that made it possible! Perhaps, the towers were fixed? I have no clue. The DHCP is still enabled, i understand that it automatically assigns other users of the network their own IP address i find it unneccessary because i’m the only one who uses the service, but i really cannot understand how it worked out.

Anyway, as of now, things are going very well but I would like to know…should i be worried that the DHCP is enabled? Plus, i also want to figure out how to access the Canopy Page.. is there a manual reset function for the antenna?

Oh, the technician who came over to install the service originally set the DHCP as disabled.

Thanks.

Frequent Disconnection Problem

Oct 3, 2006 Author: jinriku | Filed under: Technical Advice

This is not a remedy but rather a suggestion….

Like you guys i used to have in frequent disconnection in smartBRO then a friend of mine told me something about the canopylite that we were using. that somehow the device has a flaw in its grounding system (the yellow wire on the device which is mounted on wall). so my friend said to cut that darn thing off… and so i did (warning: cutting this off… you will be unprotected from lightning strikes ’cause the yellow wire to the device acts as a lightning arrestor)… now i have no disconnecting problems anymore. about the speed of the smartBRO well it depends upon the base and how many are you connected to that base. ie if the base has a bandwidth of 1.5mbps only and a hundrend of you connect with the speed 256kbps well you do the math but for sure the answer is SLOW CONNECTION.

and if you tried my suggestion please post something so i will know how’d it come up… :D
