Do you advise I subscribe?

Jun 25, 2007 Author: coolasas | Filed under: Technical Advice

Been contemplating since i am used to using wi-fi (really high speed) from where i came from that hooking up with Smart BRO is a good move. Ever since I am coming back and forth the country I am used to buy an internet card and hook up with my phoneline and I never had problem - speed wise though it’s really slow and internet phone quality is not good, so when I chanced upon the ad of Smart BRO I have been thinking (since 1 week now) that I will subscribe… after reading some comments I am having second thoughts.

Can anyone tell me if I am digging my own grave in bills and headaches if i subscribe now???

Thanks

Why did you chose SmartBro instead of getting a DSL?

Jun 25, 2007 Author: edongzkisiete | Filed under: Technical Advice

Bakit nga ba SmartBro ang pinili mo hindi DSL or other broadband?

Hmmm bakit nga ba? Kasi walang DSL line samin, kasi 7x faster daw than dial-up. Kaya sana SmartBro is a Smart Choice.

Hi to all SmartBro(lok) Subscribers, Recently I tested all ports if they are opened, closed or blocked by SmartBro, and I found that the all common ports and other ports are closed or blocked, even the port 25 that used in SMTP are blocked!

I can’t access 169.254.1.1

May 14, 2007 Author: goodytwoshoes | Filed under: Technical Advice

Hello. I have a prob, mga tol. I can’t seem to access 169.254.1.1. If I’m not mistaken, that’s how you access the configuration settings for the Canopy device stuff/ chuva. When I type that in my browser, the page cannot (and has never been) found. Why kaya? Anyone have any ideas?

Well, the story is that the “Smart” “Technicians” setup my Smart Bro internet connection on another CPU. But that CPU got defective so we changed to a new one and now I guess that’s the reason. But then how do I access it still?

Important suggestion to SMARTBro users

May 11, 2007 Author: omski | Filed under: Technical Advice

Change your portal password as soon as possible if you are using the default password given by your installers.

There maybe a possibility that your account can be compromised if you don’t change your password.

If you can’t change it for some reason (like an error or invalid email address which does not permit you to edit your profile) call Smart customer service and ask for assistance so you can change your password. I would also recommend to change the security question (ex: What is your favorite color? etc) in your profile while you change your password.

If somebody has access to your default password and username and account number before, he can generate a new password using the “Forget your password?” link in the portal if he knows the answer to your security question. All these info are available to your installers if you don’t change your password and security question as soon as he goes out of your house after installation.

It may also be a cause of your intermittent problem if somebody else is using your paid account…so change your portal pwd after reading this suggestion and post in your comments.

Hope this helps.

Having multiple PC

May 2, 2007 Author: ug | Filed under: Technical Advice

I had two PC set up in our place and they are connected to smart bro via a LAN hub. When using them simultaneously and connecting to the internet, it would redirect the site to its log-in page. I would then enter the required information, but for a few seconds it would then redirect the site to the log-in page.

I would gladly appreciate it if there’s a solution on this.

Using one PC though is ok, this kind of problem is not encountered.

Why Smart Bro really sucks?

Apr 14, 2007 Author: juven | Filed under: Announcement, Technical Advice

one or more base stations are located in one particular area……….each base stations has its own bandwidth…….. lets say one base station has a bandwidth of 10Mbps and 100 users are connected to that base station, [10,000/100 = 100) therefore each of those users will be receiving 100kbps.......

reasons for intermittent connections

  • kapag wireless internet tlgng unstable ang connection xe pwedeng makaapekto ang mga infrastracture, puno, at kung anu pa mang nkhrang in-between ur canopy and the base station [kahit mga nalaglag na dahon sa puno nakakaapekto and even rain]
  • We always have unstable connections between 9am-12am or even worse 7am-1am imagine 18 hrs na unstable ung connection tpos sobrang bagal pa ranging from 7KBps to 16KBps (or 56kbps - 128kbps)… tpos ung remaining hours the speed ranges from 35KBps - 48KBps (or 280kbps - 384kbps)…………The reason for this is: dun sa 7am-1am, “madaming user ang nakaonline which means pinagha2tian natin ung speed ng isang base station”. As for the remaining hours, normal ang bandwidth ntin (280kbps - 384kbps). Ayaw nio maniwala? try nio mag bandwidth test sa madaling araw ng 1am-5am…… the result will range from 300kbps to 384kbps.
I have a friend na wlang problema sa smartbro probinsya. He told me that 10-15 subscribers lng ata cla dun sa lugar nila

  • ganun tlga xe ang theory ng wireless internet, UPLOAD SPEED IS GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO THE DOWNLOAD SPEED. Inde cia tulad ng asymmetric dsl (ung phone line ang gamit) na ang DL is greater than UL.

BOTTOMLINE

  • the bottomline here is “SMARTBRO REALLY SUCKS”.

SOLUTION

  • smart should increase the bandwitdth or the capacity of each base station..
  • switch ISP… lumipat n kau.

I WISH NALIWANAGAN KAYO SA POST KO………..my objective here is mahikayat kau na ipa disconnect nio n ang smartbro nio after ur lockin period at maghanap na kau ng better ISP. At dun nmn sa nagplaplanong mgsubscribe sa smartbro, don’t you ever think about it. It will be just a waste of time and money…………

tried it but now it’s gone…

Apr 7, 2007 Author: gnikcah | Filed under: Customer Complaint, Technical Advice

During the first week that i was using this smartbro, the connection within my LAN using Hub alone is ok… I have two lancards in my main internet server. i connected the cable from the smartbro to the 1st lancard and have the connection of the other lancard sa hub ko. then 2 more cables connected to the hub, kinabit ko sa 2 laptops ko. i was quite happy with it for the first 1 to 2 weeks but after that… i can share files but can no longer share the internet through my LAN.

How come this happened? I dont get the logic… Since, it worked before.. i dont know why its not workin anymore now.

Anyone does have the idea?

SmartBRO sa Cavite

Mar 29, 2007 Author: justai2000 | Filed under: Technical Advice
