I was able to cancel my subscription after the sheer frustration in dealing with this (non) service. Wala na rin po iyong one-year lock. The funny thing is that during the time I was canceling my subscription, I received snail mail with a pre-paid SIM (I’m sure you received a lot of you received that too), as a way of thanking me daw for using the service. I promptly returned the SIM telling them that instead of spending the money on the re-branding exercise, they should spend it on improving their @#$#&%(*# service (technical and customer).
I would love to cancell and I’ve been trying to cancell for sometime now. I formally submitted a letter to smart center at Ali Mall but the customer service rep there was a bit ‘impolite and arrogant’ i told him that I just wasnt happy with the service and i would like to cancell.
Without even reading my letter, he gave it back to me and said that they dont just cancell subscription to wifi.
I politely asked for the manager and he said that there’s no manager at that time.
I could not belive that it was the end of the line for me at that moment… thus i tried to convince the ‘arrogant representative to hear me out’ … would you belive that after explaining he said the word ‘gumaganti kayo ngayon’… WTF, I just want to cancell my subscription and not pay for the disconnection fee because i was misled, misinfomed and was given a lot of empty promises by thier crappy tech support.

This is the most horrible thing that ever happened to me. Talagang papangit ka sa pangungunsumi. Naman!
Well, I just got sacked from my job because of this SMART (so-called BROADBAND) Internet. This is the biggest fraud I have ever known. Ala pa akong one month but I am ever so dissatisfied.
I have never regreted any decision I have made as much as I do for this one. Bakit pa kasi nalaman ko na may Smart Bro diba…. I trusted this company to provide quality service since established na to. Needless to say that I was really proved wrong.
They promised 384 kbps but now it is less that 1kbps. 3days consecutive na. The other days nagtiis ako sa average 150kbps from 6AM to 10:45AM. Then slows down to 80kbps sa afternoon until the next day. Imagine downloading 4.05MB for 2 hours and after waiting patiently. Corrupted na yong file….. Gosh!!!!!!
I guess all I want now is for them to cancel my subscription and refund my money because I deserve that. I am not paying for a sevice that I didnt get.

I’m just tired of waiting for things to get better and I want to terminate my subscription. It’s just not worth all that time, MONEY and effort. In addition, it had greatly affects my studies kasi wala nga akong magamit na internet para sa info na kailangan ko. Please help me, i am sick and tired of this Smart Wifi thing and have already decided to change my connection with Digitel. I am a web developer and definitely needs a fast internet connection to upload and download files from the web server I am working on. There was an incident when I was uploading a very important file on the server when the connection suddenly timed out, when the time the connection was back for 15mins I tried to upload again the file, which was I though was succesfull. The next day when my boss pm me, he said why I wasn’t yet done on the updates on the site, I said it was already finished and I already uploaded the file yesterday. Then I double checked it to make sure it was uploaded, the file was uploaded with the modified date yesterday but it was 0 bytes in size, wtf…. i said to myself… ggrrrr…
What I want is to terminate this f***king connection and do not pay a single dime on it. But, unfortunately I must pay 5 months because of the contract that I did not bother to read because was thought that this internet connection works fine.

From the start of the installation, wala na me na receive na connection, I tried to ask the people who installed it, they just ignore me and left my house after installing the unit. Very rude People i tell ya. I tired e-mailing and calling the Tech Support, no replies at all. The worst service I’ve ever experienced!

Saklolo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Basura ang service nila!!!! Gusto ko na nga ibato ung antenna nila papunta sa site nila which is 640+ feet away lng from our house. Nakakasuka na tlga kse almost everyday tintawagan ko ang tech support nila para lng maayos ang connection ko pero wala nmng naitutulong ang mga lintek. Nakikipagaway na ko sa operator nila dhl iniinsist nila na ok ang signal and everything pero pag nag ping test ako sa dns servers nila puro request timed out. Pinuntahan ako yesterday ng higher tech support nila to check kung ano prblem pero wla nmn daw problem. Sinisisi pa nila ung pc ko na daw ang may problem T@ngN@ng smart yan! hoy mga tga smart kung ang pc ko na ang problem bkt between 7-9a.m mabilis ang connection ko pag tungtong ng 10 a.m. onwards kasing kupad na ng pagong ung connection ko?! bakit d kaya tayo magrally para matapos na tong kalokohan naito. magset tyo ng grand eb ng mga dismayado sa smart bro.
people power laban sa smart soli pera natin. 1 malaking kalokohan meron bang broadband na 2kbps/sec samantala sabi nila sa mga posters ay 356kbps/sec pwede silang mademanda sa panloloko nila. kahiyahiya ang smart sobra. manlilinlang ng tao para yumaman.
Grabe!! am really disgusted sa Smart Bro!!! They went here in Pampanga in Tigtigan, Terakan sa Clark (Angeles City fiesta) and they had a booth (w/ about 5-6 PC’s) to promote their product and service. The event lasted for three (3) days….and that was the only time that my connection w/ Smart Bro ran smoothly.
Then when the event was over and they packed up…..Ayun balik na naman sa intermittent connection..puro request time out!!!!

I’ve read the posts right from the start, any update on this?
Honestly it doesn’t look like it’s gonna be that simple asking Smart to simply cancel the contracts because of their poor service. Obviously Smart has the real intention of duping people with their good promises that’s why there is a 12 months tie up provision in their contracts.
A signature drive might work better by submitting subscrbers complain to NTC.
Give us an update here.

Matagal ko nang gustong ipatanggal tong pesteng smart bro na to… pero ayaw nila dhil may 12 months daw na lock in period… So i decided not to pay the bills para kusa nlng nilang i-disconnect ang walang kwentang connection nila dahil after simula ng ikabit nila, di ko naman magamit ng maayos ultimo sa pag check ng e-mails! So they did… Pinutol nila yung connection ko… (”THANK GOD!!!”) pero know what??? after 3 weeks they disconnected me, they sent me a letter na isu-sue daw ako for 2,990 pesos na suddenly naging 12,000 with all the penalties ang all!!!! I had the same problem with my Smart Wi-Fi before.. the connection was too slow.. Unreliable service, it was always down during weekends.. e weekend lang nga ako s ahaus down pa!!!
i decided to quit my subscription, last June 30, 2006. I settled all the amount that needs to be settled and paid advance and advised them to cut the service… 6 months after, I received a demand letter asking me to pay for a certain amount again!!! Damn service now they dont want to let me go!!! nakakinis and i have nowhere to go!!! kanino ba sila pwede ireklamo!!!

2007 na, nakaka-asar pa rin ang serbisyo!!! Sino kaya dyan ang makakasimula ng signature drive??? Preferably with legal know-how? I’d be glad to promote this to everybody I know who was victimized by Smart Bro. Calling Paul there, can you start this signature drive? Summarizing all the complaints here, like the pre-termination fee, the collections fee when you get disconnected, the really slow speed, the intermittent connection, etc.
Smart Bro is so frustrating… Even more frustrating to know na-isahan tayo. I started this service May 2006, wala pa ring improvement!

Guys, i’m a very new subscriber to smart and what happened is that i still don’t have any connection even with the equipment installed (from the start talaga). I want to terminate the service cause it’s so lousy (i know this is not new anymore..everyone in here says it’s lousy lol).
They installed the equipment sunday (jan 14) and their contractors are really really inept at troubleshooting. They stayed at home for about two hours and i still can’t obtain an IP. They promised to go back on Monday but of course didn’t keep their word. I filed a report Tuesday and the customer service personnel said that it will be soon fixed and that they’ll make amends for their contractors’ undisciplined attitudes.
I updated the report Wednesday morning and they said they would contact their contractors. That day I also made a friend of mine who works for a router company to check my computer. The contractors (during the prev monday) said that the problem may be on my hardware (NIC or LAN card). We reinstalled the hardware and it didn’t work and in a fit of impatience, I bought a new one and it still doesn’t work!!! And I would also like to add that their tower is like just next door…
I called again that Wednesday afternoon and they said that they had contracted their contractors. Immediately after, I called the head contractor (he left his cellphone number and I was just able to reach him that time) and he said they didn’t receive any notification. After that I called customer service again and they keep on giving me craps about it. I gave them an ultimatum of 2 days.
Today’s Saturday and I just came from SMart center in St. Lucia Mall. The girl there asked me for another 24 hours so that means my ultimatum didn’t work and another 24 hours is needed. Their services is so lousy and I decided to terminate if they’re not going to do anything about it. The girl then told me about the 1-year contract and that I already received their equipment so my account is ACTIVE.
So far, all i know is that i am paying for a connection which is non-existent and the contract became active when their equipment was installed. So basically it’s like this, I AM PAYING FOR THE INSTALLED DEVICE (that doesn’t work!!) AND NOT FOR AN INTERNET CONNECTION.
They said if i want to terminate. then I’ll need to make a request letter and it’s still to be subjected to approval. The girl also said that if it wasn’t approved then ill still have to pay for the remaining 12 months if i persist on the termination. So it’s just ok for them to uninstall their device and then still let the customer pay….This time i am not sure if i am paying for installed device anymore, I AM BASICALLY GOING TO PAY FOR NOTHING IF I PERSIST ON TERMINATION!
That’s all of it. Pls do reply and help is greatly needed especially on that letter..I really want to put nasty things in that letter and I hope someone in here would help me concerning the legalities. Thanks you very much.

I now had fixed my connection but i did the troubleshooting myself. Concerning smartbro service personnel, wala ka talagang maaasahan sa kanila AS IN! Try niyo yung mga internet booster programs, maybe that can help and if ever may probs kayo with connection like their DNS servers or so, I can help..
what kind of internet booster programs?? saan makukuha? does it really help???
well honestly the internet speed may vary depending naman sa PC unit and plus na yung connection talaga so sa inyo yun kung gagamit kayo ng tweakers or so na nakakaboost up ng internet connection. My connection normal’s download speed is usually 20-25 kbps and I think it’s pretty ok for smartbro and mas malakas pa kung umaga.

ngayon tinake down ko na kung anong oras walang connection (nareredirect dun sa smartbro website na hindi ko naman kailangan) from 5:50 to 9:30, wala talaga. okay kaya ung globe broadband? mamaya maloko na naman tayo dahil ineexpect natin sa mga may pangalan na magbibigay ng tunay na serbisyo. nakakainis talaga, hindi ko maintindihan kung paano nilang naaatim na manloko ng tao. nag-email ako sa kanila at tinatanong ko kung bakit laging “sira” ung connection, hindi naman sinasagot ang tanong ko o nagbibigay ng mga posibilidad para naman hindi ako naghihintay sa wala o nagbabantay kung kailan magkakaroon…nababasa ba ito ng smart? kung sa bagay kahit naman nababasa nila kung pumapasok naman ang pera may pakialam ba sila? ayaw ko namang mambintang pero ipinararating nila na manloloko sila :(. Nakakairita na kasing nasa gitna ka ng pagsasaliksik o kailangan mong maghanap ng impormasyon sa internet tapos hindi mo magawa kahit naman binayaran mo ang serbisyo. Sabi nung nag-install sa akin dapat daw di bababa ng 256 kbps yung speed pero kung nagba-bandwidth test ako sa pldtplay.com at sa iba pang website, di pa umaabot ng 200 kbps yung max speed, badtrip!. Maybe you should try using cFosSpeed as your internet connection tweaker and besides that, upgrade your OS to Vista which I think is configured to connect to the internet way faster than XP and also, make sure to periodically clean your drive of junks and temp files as they also affect the performance of your PC, I recommend using CCleaner. Another factor also is spywares, try Spybot Search and Destroy and Adware SE Pro.
I’ve also been a subscriber of SmartBRO since March 2006, had my share of downtime but lately, the service I received was much more than I pay them.
My download rate now is quite stable, could browse to as fast as 512kbps or could download a file @ 62KBps. Wished all the subscriber have experience this speed… Just 2 days ago, I was able to download 2.5GB worth of data for 24 hours.

I would like to ask for Smart Bro to terminate my service. I have only been with the service for about a week, and I am already dissatisfied with it. Slowness is apparent which is almost equal to dial-up speeds, specially at night. I am also experiencing intermittent connections. Lastly, I am not reaching the advertised speed, and can’t utilize my internet experience to full use. I shifted to Smart Bro from myDSL only to be disappointed.

The best DL speed that I EVER got with this dishonest service is less than 1/10th of the advertised 384 Kb ps. I average about 15 Kb ps. It’s so slow that their own stupid Speed Test times out before loading. All the other tests from their Quick Fix program say everything is fine! The management at Smart Bro are criminals in my opinion. They are guilty of theft by deception.

grabe din ang experience ko sa smartbro.pina-relocate ko ung connection kc aalis na kami ng bansa.sabi nila may signal nman daw sa bagong location kaso nung ikakabit na ng mga contractors eh di makakuha ng signal kaya di tuloy nalipat.may isang option pa ako na paglilipatan kaso kelangan daw nila 30 subscribers sa area na un bago ma-activate ung smartbro.
ang complaint ko is ung assurance nila na may signal sa bagong location at ung sabi din nila na 2-3 days lang ung relocation.nalaman ko na lang na di na-install ung connection after 2 weeks kasi di nila inasikaso agad ung relocation. by that time, nasa ibang bansa na ako.
tas nung nagpapa-disconnect nako pinipilit pa nila na bayaran ko ung pretermination fee or ipalipat ko na lng daw. sabi ko nga wala namang signal dun sa paglilipatan ko.alangan namang kung saan saan ko na lang ililipat.
basta kahit anong gawin nila di ko babayaran ung lintik na pretermination fee na yan.
wala silang kuwenta, sila ang sumisira sa contract by giving us the service that we don’t deserve and the service that is the reciprocal of what is stated in their contract.

yeah…. pag tayo ang umangal sa smart, sabihin nila, may sira ang connection sa area nyo… pero pag bayaran na, hndi naman tau pwedeng umangal na, hndi nagamit ung 3-4days na walang connection…. otherwise, sabihin pa sa atin na sorry po sir/ma’am…. ang siste, binabayaran naten ng buo ang serbisyo nila pero sila, d nila kayang ibigay ng buo ang serbisyo na sanay napakinabangan ng maayos! mga tsong, wag operator ang sisihin… kc, utusan lang yang mga yan… kahit technical support, mga indyo.. hndi na lang diretsuhin na sira tlaga… madami pang abubot at etcheburetse pag kausap mo… rumekta tayo sa wireless center at dun magmumumura para ung mga bagong applicants, magdalawang isip magpakabit.. anyway, PLDT na lang or sa cable (T1) ang pakabit naten para sulit…
sa akin maganda naman ang service ng smart bro, ang kinakaayawan ko lang ay yung pagbabayad ng pretermination.. or kung anu man yun. according dun sa wireless center i need to pay them 9,000 pesos bago nila tanggalin yung subsciption ko, parang cnabi nila na even wla na ako sa smart bro service gumagamit pa rin ako ng “wireless connection nila” at the same time wla naman sa application form yung ganung klaseng information at the same time kung contract man yun, bakit tayong mga subscribers ay wala namang kopya nun para mabasa at mareklamo ang di makatarungan na pagbabayad ng ganun. according din nga pla sa smart.. nakacontract din daw kasi sila sa broadband connection kaya d basta basta pwedeng tanggalin yung subscription sa subscriber. sa totoo lang bumabagal na ang connection nila d2 sa amin (taguig) kasi no. 1 nga sila dahil marami silang subscribers, subscribers na gusto ng magpadisconnect at ayaw nilang gawin.. tapos sasabihin pa nila na “option” ang pagbabayad ng termination na yun. loko ba sila.

Kung wala kayo choice. mas maganda mag wired kaysa wireless unless last choice nyo n yun wireless.
On marketing sides, dont expect for 384kbps. mostly shared yan and bursting yan. hindi fixed 384kbps. to make sure maganda quality ng bandwidth dapat 80% ng 384 makuha nyo. and also… ask smartbro first kung anong CIR ng connection nyo actual guaranteed bandwidth wag kayo nagpapaniwala sa 384, BURSTING LANG YAN. Hi! You know I hope something will be done to this issue about Smartbro’s disservice to its subscribers. I know and I feel for you guys because we’re practically in the same boat. I subscribed to Smartbro so I can start my home- based job, but what did I get? Substandard service. My connection didn’t reach the promised 384 kbps, not even once. I should’ve succumbed to my gut feel the moment I read that vague phrase “up to” and when the people who installed the pole here at my house used the BayanTel speed meter for testing the speed of my connection. What about that!!! So bottomline: I didn’t get the job because my internet speed didn’t meet the requirement of the company.
I am so desperate for any means to have my subscription canceled. I am willing to return their effects (their cable wires, pole, etc.,) but I cannot pay them the pre- termination fee and cancellation charges they are exacting from me.. It’s just adding insult to injury. I don’t even know how to pay the 999 monthly payment for the monthly due, let alone pay for something I haven’t used. Gosh. My lola has cancer and she’s undergoing chemo, so just imagine how this thing adds up to my list of burdens. Sorry if I am venting my frustration (and issues) here but I can’t help it. I know some of you tackle problems bigger than these, but that’s the thing– we all have our share of problems and this hole Smartbro is trying to pull us into is just pure inhumanity (yes, they’re in- humane!! without consideration, without concern, LIARS!!!) So I hope somebody at NTC or Senate, or some exec from Smartbro reads this page, and resolve our complaints ASAP! I have read on the net that a non profit organization has petitioned for a thorough investigation of Smartbro’s inadequate (or shall I say nonexistent!) services, but judging from past events, or the history of Philippine bureaucracy…. HAAAAAAH. Please prove someone as skeptic as I am wrong!!!!!

I visited Cebu City last month to visit my fiancee. I bought along 2 laptops, one for my fiancee and my own. We tried using smart bro inside the hotel room and no signal at all. Cannot connect. When we get lucky, it would work for 20 minutes then it would disconnect. I tried using my laptop with windows vista at ganun din, walang swerte. Ok it did work for 5 to 10 minutes and then disconnected.
We went to the rooftop hoping ma solve ang problema pero same thing, no connection. It did work when she’s at home half of the time but the last few days wala talagang LUCK. I’m back here in New Jersey now and i felt bad to all the people that got robbed by a major communication giant. I hate that i can’t communicate with my loved ones because of misleading ads.
Is there anyone there who works for GMA or ABS-CBN have the same problem or anyone there in Metro Manila pa imbestigahan itong SMART BRO problem. Dapat makulong dito ang higher ups of this company.
