one or more base stations are located in one particular area……….each base stations has its own bandwidth…….. lets say one base station has a bandwidth of 10Mbps and 100 users are connected to that base station, [10,000/100 = 100) therefore each of those users will be receiving 100kbps.......
reasons for intermittent connections
- kapag wireless internet tlgng unstable ang connection xe pwedeng makaapekto ang mga infrastracture, puno, at kung anu pa mang nkhrang in-between ur canopy and the base station [kahit mga nalaglag na dahon sa puno nakakaapekto and even rain]
- We always have unstable connections between 9am-12am or even worse 7am-1am imagine 18 hrs na unstable ung connection tpos sobrang bagal pa ranging from 7KBps to 16KBps (or 56kbps – 128kbps)… tpos ung remaining hours the speed ranges from 35KBps – 48KBps (or 280kbps – 384kbps)…………The reason for this is: dun sa 7am-1am, “madaming user ang nakaonline which means pinagha2tian natin ung speed ng isang base station”. As for the remaining hours, normal ang bandwidth ntin (280kbps – 384kbps). The reason is MADALING ARAW NA KASI, wala na gaanong online xe tulog n ang mga tao. Kaya ung mga taong laging puyat or insomniac na tulad ko lang ang nakakaenjoy ng fast speed sa madaling araw. Ayaw nio maniwala? try nio mag bandwidth test sa madaling araw ng 1am-5am…… the result will range from 300kbps to 384kbps.
- dun sa places n tulad ng probinsya…….. ok lng ang smartbro dun xe ala pa gaanong subscribers…. I have a friend na wlang problema sa smartbro probinsya. He told me that 10-15 subscribers lng ata cla dun sa lugar nila
reason kung bakit baliktad ang Dload speed sa Uload speed.
- ganun tlga xe ang theory ng wireless internet, UPLOAD SPEED IS GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO THE DOWNLOAD SPEED. Inde cia tulad ng asymmetric dsl (ung phone line ang gamit) na ang DL is greater than UL.
BOTTOMLINE
- the bottomline here is “SMARTBRO REALLY SUCKS”. Wala silang ginagawa para i-improve ang service nila.
SOLUTION
- smart should increase the bandwitdth or the capacity of each base station.. Ang nangyayari xe ay hakot lng cla ng hakot ng customers pero ung ung service nila pabulok ng pabulok.
- switch ISP… lumipat n kau. Pero kung ala kaung choice dahil smarbro lng ang available sa area nio, la na taung magagawa dyan pwera n lng kung magsama-sama tayong mga users na magfile ng complaint sa NTC o kaya nmn ay kontakin ntin ang media.
I WISH NALIWANAGAN KAYO SA POST KO………..my objective here is mahikayat kau na ipa disconnect nio n ang smartbro nio after ur lockin period at maghanap na kau ng better ISP. At dun nmn sa nagplaplanong mgsubscribe sa smartbro, don’t you ever think about it. It will be just a waste of time and money…………

mahirap talaga kapag wireless ang internet connection, dami factors na ico-consider para magkaron ka ng maayos na connection. i have been tinkering with the antenna and masasabi ko na ito yung una mo dapat tignan kapag nawawala yung connection mo… nakita ko na din yung sweet spot ng antenna and okay naman yung connection ko… bumabagal minsan pero expected ko na kasi nga wireless, pero di siya napuputol basta-basta… kahit umuulan okay naman yung connection ko… dapat talaga bago ka magpakabit check mo muna sa ibang smart bro users sa area mo kung okay yung connection nila..
siguro yung pagpapakabit mo ng smart bro, hit and miss din… ako yung mga isa sa pinagpala na maayos yung connection…
same here.. swerte din ako.. although me shortcomings din.. hindi ako makaconnect sa regular na FTP (port 21), pero nung tinry ko minsan kumonek using secure FTP, nakaconnect ako sa FTP server ko.. i guess nakablock yung port 21 sa base station ko

It’s not just the service- the support people refuse to admit any fault in their system, they will always blame YOU and YOUR COMPUTER. They will claim you have a virus, or your LAN card is bad. Or they will tell you that you DO have a stable, good connection, even if you have NO connection.
It has been 12 days since my connection broke. After 10 days, they sent an installer to my place to “verify that I have a problem.” He changed the antenna. It still did not work. So he put a second new one up. Still did not work. He told me my COMPUTER was broke! I told him to go home.
The engineer called me today, and he said that the base station has been broken but they are waiting for PARTS! But they did not order the parts yet because they have to coordinate everything first!
So here I am with no connection and nothing is being fixed. I am going to stop payment and let them pay their fat lawyers work it out!
It’s true. They REALLY do SUCK. I saw all the bad reports on websites before I got smartbro, I did not believe that they could be so bad. BUT I KNOW NOW BECAUSE I HAVE EXPERIENCE!

WTF SMART BRO IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE WORST USB BROADBAND SERVICE IN THIS PLANET! Imagine I loaded 30 pesos to my sister’s Smart Bro just to surf the Internet and it was SUPER BAGAL AS IN! For the first 5 minutes it was fast I was able to open many websites and then all of a sudden the download speed dropped to a pathetic 0.0 KBps! What a waste of money! My finger ached from refreshing my browser to no avail. I even moved my laptop outside my house again to no avail.

Pag tumawag ka sa Customer Service bibigyan ka ng ticket number then sasabihin observe muna daw after 24hrs. After 24 hrs tumawag ka ulit bagong ticket number then observe ulit daw for 24hrs. eh Putaing Ina kelan matatapos yun pag observe mo ng 24hrs? after 1 year… Minsan nakakaawa den magalit sa Customer Service nila kasi sumusunod lang naman sila sa company protocol. Ang Hayup talaga si Manny Panghilinan ang may ari ng smart sinasamantala niya mga tao.
23 months (2years na ang lock in period ng Share it and plug it unlimited) pa ko mag titiis but this week pag may time na ko try ko file sa DTI ng complaint and NTC.
Nagtataka naman ako bakit hindi na feature sa TV eto issue na to. Malamang may regalo lagi ang smart sa mga tv station for damage control
Did anyone successfully get out of the lock in period without paying the pre termination fee?
I was a smart wifi (canpoy) subscriber for two years everything is tolerable before February of this year connection is just .07mbps in speedtest and the angering thing is the customer service they are insisting that the connection is fine which is obviously contrary. So my report was escalated to their higher technical service (I can’t remember what that shit was called) but after 3 days no reply or whatsoever.
I am planning to buy a laptop maybe April or May of this year so I opted to subscribe to plug it unlimited 999 since it was using a different mode of technology which is 3G, theoretically much better than wifi. The first week is great I achieve the highest download speed which is 250kbps (download speed not connection speed) Everything is great!. Then reality sets in and it begs to differ from what I was experiencing. During 7pm till around 12 midnight I’m only getting .20mbps! so I decided to call their CSR as usual the same basic way of checking – Check if the usb connection or sim card si loose etc. After the routinely checking my concern was forwarded to their email support group whom I felt didn’t even know how to use email, not a single reply or whatsoever.
The next logical step is go to a Smart Wireless Center, after exactly 45 minutes and 13 seconds of waiting from the moment I got my number (still have it) to being called to the desk of their frontliners my original ticket was endorse and I should be expecting a call tomorrow since the Service Level of Agreement is 24 hours.
Then the next day Mar 18, 2010 8:42:10 I receive a SMS from Cust.Care
“Good day. This is from SMART Communications. We have been trying to call you through your mobile: However, your phone is unreachable at the time. Please be advised that we will call again to further check your SmartBro Plug-it internet connection.” WTF! if I receive the text message how come they can’t call me and for God sake it is 2010 not 1999, when the mobile phone industry is just beginning It is very rare to receive such message as “user is unreachable”, or maybe they just send the text to meet their SLA requirement of responding. So I waited they called at around 7pm (not sure of the time I should have recorded it) and ask me about my concern, strange if they are reading the content of my first ticket they shouldn’t be asking as if they don’t know anything. I was advice my concern was forwarded to their Highest Support Group and it is for MONITORING (take note of the word) when I ask when to expect an answer the tech guy said try calling for the next 24 hours which I did and it was for MONITORING. I try calling every other day.
Although those lady CSRs contribute to my daily frustration I do pity them because they are made to tell lies and deceive us, and are always the recipient of the customers anger, so from time to time I try apologizing for my manner of speech before I end a call. But no matter how much I demanded an answer it is always for MONITORING.
So I am thinking based on the trend of me calling every other day and getting the MONITORING word, concluded that this can go on for years without getting any technical answers about their short comings in service. So I ask the CSR on how to contact their Highest Support Group and she can’t give me an answer.
Pondering upon the facts I’m speculating that there is no Highest Support Group, the name itself sounds dubious. They are just using the word MONITORING to shut me up and get tired of complaining. Reality is there is no technical issue it is just the extent of their service nothing more nothing less.
Come to think of it; first they extended their lock in period from 12 to 24 months.
Second they are constantly flooding the airwaves with their commercial. What does it tell us? Their network is clogged by unsuspecting subscribers who are just hoping to enjoy their service. And they are doing nothing about it!
This is a SCAM to lure us and lock us for 24months. Paying our exact monthly bill in exchange of what? .20mbps either way we are screwed if we opt to terminate we will be ask to pay the pre termination fee of the remaining months out of the 24 months lock in period, which is unfair it’s like giving them financial reward for failing to satisfy their obligation to us. Or if we choose to stay what do we get 24 months of poor service and frustration. Smart is in a win-win situation and they are still expanding their scam by introducing new products and taking advantage of the technological bubble.
This annoys the hell out of me, I can get another ISP as an alternative to this shit smartbro that is but I can’t get over the fact that I was cheated. But how about the others especially the OFW families who’s relying on the net to communicate with their love ones abroad? Those who can’t afford another ISP how about them? In fact it’s my Mom’s Birthday (March 23) she is in the US and we can’t even talk at the time that is convenient for both of us because of poor internet service. It’s also my birthday tomorrow March 25. Thanks Smart Bro we really appreciate you bringing families close together.
And to the upper management and executives and the CEO who device this SCAM may you live forever or find a big enough Coffin to fit all the money you are stealing from your subscribers.

Smart says its the fastest…actually its NOT!!!!! The antenna is fast but the plug-it is soooooooooo slow (0.00-17kbps). The standard rate is P10 per 30 mins but if it excludes waiting time its P10 per 15 mins. 50% of your time (and load) is all for waiting and frustration. I used smart bro plug-it to post this message amd the site took me about 3 mins. to load. My antenna (also smart bro) is fast, but i have to use this slower alternative. Why? Here’s my story:

Smart lied to us. Ever since the plug-it launched, they said that it can reach 2mbps. It can only reach up to 20 kbps.

we have been using smart broadband for more than 4 yrs now. more than 3 yrs ago, we changed location. it was difficult trying to get a signal. it took months before it was finally settled. they even advised us to put up a pole (flag pole ang pinagawa namin in short – which cost around P5k) and surprise – wala pa rin nakuhang signal. we finally got a signal when they decided to put the antenna up the roof of our house. which isn’t stable kasi kapag mahangin you need to pray na hindi matuwal. it’s around 10 meters, so just imagine that swaying in the wind. anyway, that’s not really the problem.
maraming episodes sa smart na nag pprove na yes, smart broadband sucks. last year, after 2 days of maintenance, hindi kami makapasok sa kahit anong site. because we would get redirected to the smart portal page over and over and over. we couldn’t open up our internet shop for more than a week. whenever we would call up customer support, it’s deja vu everytime! sabi nila it’s either our router that’s broken or that the pc we’re using isn’t good.
first of all, it couldn’t possibly be the router because kahit pa naka direct yung wire sa isang pc, nag re-redirect pa rin! and another thing: hindi pc ang may problema because we already tried it on different units and it’s the same! it finally got fixed a month later ng pauli-ulit na redirection page.
nagyon naman, since october of last year (october 2009), we’ve been having VERY VERY VERY slow connection. like in the morning i would try to DL adobe reader and it would show i’m downloading it with a speed of 3kbps. THAT’S 3KBPS!!! ano yan? seriously malala pa yan sa dial-up!
kapag gabi okay naman, i can even DL at 100kbps.
may schedule ang down time: 8 or 9 am mag start until 8 pm in the evening. aba masipag, di ba?

I wish I saw this blog before. I easily got tricked with their advertisement, so there we got the unlimited 999 plug-it got home and tried it agad, I was really shocked when it was so slow, sabi ni hubby bka naman ngaun lang yan, kaya kinabukasan tumawag kmi sa cs nila..pra lang akong engot dun na nilelecturan on troubleshooting inabot kmi halos kalahating araw! waaah andami ng nasayang na oras. 1 month na ganun parin, unstable, just like what my IT friend warned me kya lang super tiwala ako sa smartbro, and I feel so stupid dahil di nila deserve ang tiwala na yun! Every 5 mins. or so nag 0.0 kbps ang receive rate! So they will let us suffer in 2 years with this kind of service! OMG
The speed of the connection actually depends on the location. We have a house at West Fairview and the connection speed went up to 2.9Megs but everywhere else.. IT SUCKS! Here at my own house in caloocan the connection and the speed are both very sporadic.. Most of the time it will say that you are connected but no Bandwidth is going in and I am trapped in this 2 years lock-in period, they should have upgraded their 3G to 4G that uses a different station. I am planning NOT to pay the bill. I will get Globe DSL because the DSLAM is just around the block.
I think sa case ng plug it hindi 3g coverage ang problem kasi lagi naman full bars maliban na lang kung props lang sa software yun na kahit walang signal naka full bars pa den. In my observation limited ang allocated bandwidth nila per subscriber kaya pag madami na sa area noya ang naka smart asahan niyo na babagal dahil nag hahati kaya sa bandwidth

it has been a week since i started experiencing this super slow connection of smart bro plug-it. At first, i was able to download large program files of 60 mb each (average). Nakadownload na din ko ng 2 movies of 900mb each for a week using torrent but now… ta daaaa! mas mabagal pa sa lasing na turtle ang connection ko. paminsan minsan nadidisconnect and 0.00-5 kpbs nalang ung rate ko. wtf! sa una lang pala maganda at mabilis, kasi 1 month old palang ung smart bro ko. pero di pa naman ako nagreregret kasi baka nga naman madami na kaming users dito sa dagupan kaya ganito. pero if this slow connection continues, malulungkot ako kasi i cant afford to subscribe for an internet plan. I am still a student and ayokong may inaalalang monthly bill. sana mabasa ito ng SMART Telecom.

First of all, i really need to express how frustrated i am with smart bro. i signed up for another 2 years contract because they guaranteed that if will be upgraded to 2mbps. (mine is with a canopy antenna. until now it i am not getting what i am paying for. i only have .7mbps and very far from 2 mbps. Also, i made a payment agreement because i cannot pay. its my kid enrollment. i thought it was all set and then here is this collection agency i have talked to chris at first he is a gentleman but PUTANG INA niya pla sinungaling siya!!! he said he can split the payments into 2. wala din nangyari nacomprosimo pa pang enroll ng anak ko nanghiram pa ako sa magulang ko which i dont usually do. haizzz asar tlga and the bad thing i paid the full amount because i was promised na mawawaived and collection fee and then another text message stating if i did not pay the collection fee a legal action will be done.. WTF! at eto pa they are threatening me that if i dont pay on the said date ur account becomes a legal problem. eh puta binayaran ko n nga ang interest eh! mga busit sila. i also texted back stating they need to coordinate with smart bro.. tapos ayun di na magrereply and then another threath nanaman.. this is the worst experience. i am working with at&t bronze billing. i know how to process payment arrangements and many more. trained ako how to be nice all the time. mali ang turo ng pacer sa mga agents nila they are very rude and they are not providing there name. how informal.. this from the office of atty cervantes pacer collection.. It is just a text message not even using my proper name and plenty of short cuts on text – and from a cellphone number – that doesn’t sound too good to be true for me. It said “DUE and DEMANDABLE – if you fail to pay on December 21-22 (NO XTENSION) your accnt becomes a LEGAL PROBLEM.Thank you.
My poor aunt who read this message was very terrified – because I used her cellphone number when I registered on SMART BRO plug it in 2009- because I am resident abroad – and hoping that SMART BRO Plug it can be used to communicate with my family back in the Philippines. Can you imagine that i spent 1 whole year of paying SMART BRO plug it which doesn’t even gave me a very good connection. As what the people said here in this forum – it took 40 minutes to open yahoo mail. I was so annoyed, I kept complaining about this on their customer services wh doesn’t even answer customers! I went to the smart wireless center – ask what can I do- i wish to terminate my contract if they can’t give a better service but they said i have to pay the remaining year of my lock in period. I put on another connection – the smart bro canopy – which is a lot better than the plug-it .. they disconnected the plug it modem but then continued to ask money every month- they wanted money for a service they disconnected and a service I never used – and never has served its purpose. Now this Melvin from Pacer – who claimed to be working with this Atty. Cervantes is harassing me with text messages about suing me…for those guys out there who experienced the same thing I had – let me know what actions you are taking to bring this SCAM to justice..

fuck smart, corrupt. na cut ang line ko for one month, when i called them if it will be reconnected if i pay my 2,763plus bill they said no, dahil nsa collection agency na daw ang account ko so i need to pay 1,000 more, magiging 3,800 plus, un mga butal butal umabot pa ng 300 kaya di ba dapat 2,763 plus 1,000 instead na 3,763 ay 3,800 PLUS pa.i asked pano kung this payrol jan.30 ako mag bayad nun totoo kong bill tas feb.15 nman un 1k madadagdagan pa rin ba yun? sabi nun agent yes mam madadagdagan na naman yon…. sabi ko sa agent pano pa makaka bayad ang tao nyan kung patong kayo ng patong grabe ka corrupt sana marinig n board un call ko na yon which for sure is impossible cuz they dont really care about the customer’s welfare, basta magbayad ka.
i would just like to sympathize all of you folks. my concern is not about the smartbro that sucks (though I have the difficulty using the gadget) but its all about the SMART GSM. I received two calls before regarding my fathers accountability to smart. I did asked my father about it but he said that he never pursued to get a plan from smart communications. The last call was even a sarcastic one (its like sarcastically saying “bayaran ninyo ang account nyo.!.). If I am in the right position to react, why it is my number that they are calling at if ever my father has subscribed to their product? why not call the number of the plan perhaps? c’mmon! Pissed off I searched the net about Atty Cervantes and landed this site. I took the advantage of investigating the whole thing and ended up with unknown contact number as sent by so called “jona”.
I was planning to get a plan from the same network but i change my mind already! SMART SUCKS!!!
