Misfortunes of Smart Wifi and Smart Bro Customers

Knowing that smart wifi would have slower internet speed compared to globe which is cheaper by 5 pesos and faster like a DSL, but to no avail all their open slots within the area of installation is full, with no choice, I have to avail the Smart wifi. Reading some of your posts from Feb to present not all, made me laugh out loud coz the swearing being stated in your post happens over and over again. Well maybe some of you know that using smart wifi is sharing with subscribers within the radius of the signal so expected slow speeds in internet connection, downloading and online games. But WTH, I have no choice, suffer for one year ;P , well in torrent I have about 25 kbps dl speed and 25 kbps upl speed, its enough for now, (had reserved a slot at Globe ;P) , and online games, you have to servers within asia only, other than that you have to suffer lags during play time, I’m currently looking for a tweaking program made speacially for Wifi users, still have found none, I’m currently using TweakNow Powerpack 2006 which has an integrated internet connection optimizer and found out a little increase in speed, I’ve used cablenut program before on my dialup but don’t know if it would work with a wifi. If any of know know a tweak on Wifis please post the name of the program and your settings and speed. Thanx.
And by the way, I’m using Kaspersky Internet Suite and Windows Defender, and please update your version of windows at microsoft, if your version is pirated please post your address and I’ll share you a fully working patch, so you can update your windows including to what adapter you’re using for yuor Wifi connection for maximum compatibility. The tweak I’m using is available for download at www.torrentspy.com but first you need a torrent client Bitcomet or utorrent. Good luck ;P

Is SmartBro Wireless internet efficient?? My answer is a big NO!!!! Im using my Smartbro Wireless Internet connection only during weekends here in the province… but it pisses me of being online after few minutes, my connection will be cut off and never again got any connection from SmartBro…

I’m a computer technician by profession, not-too-avid online gamer and also a forum moderator for a popular MMORPG. I just came down to this website because of late I’m receiving tons of angry posts complaining about connectivity problems between the game and Smart Bro users, especially from gamers in places where the only ISP in their locality is Smart Bro. Of course, they experience lag and thus blame it on server lag, allegedly because lag problems increased after the addition of a new game server.
However, by prior experience of being one of the first users (and experienced some downtime moments), I believed that one Smart cellsite does not share the same charateristics as its other counterparts, thus in some places Bro works like a charm and packets flowing like water, but in others the service is downright mediocre and slow as molasses, and even worse there’s no connection whatsoever. Unfortunately, some gamers who use Bro have yet to understand the technical factors that can affect Bro, such as interference, saturation and antenna height.
I’ve also suggested to the MMORPG company president to double up the bandwidth to their data center and upgrade their machines, figuring that they’re also the better ways to reduce, if not eliminate, server lag.
Through PM, I tried to tell some of these irate gamers ways to get around those handicaps by finding a network gaming center with a solid ISP, or quit Bro legally and get a real ADSL connection, but with Bro being the only ISP in their locality (and no one else), it comes to no surprise to me that they want to quit the game.

I just want your opinion guys… i just found one hack for Smartbro…
I’m asking for your opinion:
a.) I’m going to let the Smartbro engineers know about the hack and ask for some reward.
b.) I’m going to spread the hack to everybody via email or just post it here.

Some point about the hack… as long as you have the canopy CPE antenna you can use the smartbro services… for free…

October 2006…
This was the time where San Ildefonso had no connection for 2 weeks…
It was the second time it happened the first one was August 2006.
I called the CSR (Customer Service Representative) which I have to wait for an agonizing 30 minutes. I reported the case for the fourth time, and told “THEM” that San Ildefonso users have no connection. But what they keep telling me is that the Site Tower is up and running and have no problems, and keep telling that the canopy I have is having trouble, and they will be sending someone over to check it… but I insisted the case was not mine alone, it was not isolated…
After 2 days, somebody did went, and guess what happened… he just looked stupid going here and there checking mine and my cousins units…
Moral of the story: Even an oridnary person would say that the problem is with the company…
Its statistically impossible for all SmartBro subscribers’ canpoy would fail at the same time at the same place…

And one more thing is there anything I could do to optimize my smartbro experience? I’m bitterly disappointed when downloading huge chunks of data…

For the heck of it.
Hi, I’m Carina from cebu. I went to globe to had an internet connection but the slots were full they just let me wait for about 2 weeks and when I went backs they say its not possible.
Anyways, went to Smart and with a big smile, yup! It will be installed right away since i was early and installers are there, I paid the 1,999 pesos to get going. I hurried and sketched everything, they contacted me and at the end of the day it was installed.
Now here’s the cracking head thing, the installers just left the wires anywhere of the place hanging and the most beautiful of it all is, they cannot use the internet due to my laptop configuration.
They say they cant fix it and the next day they disappeared. They said they will refer me to a person named WILLIAM who will help me solve this pain in the ass.
Well, I waited patiently… the next day the William guy texted me, telling me of such silly prep knowledge of computer.
He texted me and said that it can be reprogrammed or else i can never use my internet…. “JUST READY THE 3 THOUSAND PESOS, COZ IF NOT, I’M NO PAY NO FIX!” he said he’s the only one who can fix it. He texted me more stuff I couldn’t read/take it anymore since my blood is rising to boil.
I wanna get my gun and kill him anyway, after a week I called my friend from higher years who are working now and they fixed my problem in an instant. I didn’t even have to pay a single cent.
I don’t have a grudge against Smart. In fact the representatives are friendly and accurate, except for that William, which I pray will be reprimanded accordingly (scum bag).
See how money shines in front of their faces. What a degrading thing for that guy, he made a mess, a bad reputation to Smart.
Smart for money perhaps.

Ei guys I’m from Nueva Ecija!
So far SmartBro connection here is working fine until last September when my company’s corporate mail which I have set up started to malfunction.
My outgoing mail won’t send but our accounts can recieve mail.
Can anyone here help me with this problem? The darn hotline is hard to contact you need to wait for an hour before someone could talk to you..why cant they put up more tech help huh!?

OK naman so far ang connection namin sa smart bro dito sa East Rembo sa Makati. One factor to our advantage is mataas ang lugar namin, according to the tech.
TIPS: Try to reboot your pc and unplug/replug the antenna power cable and check your physical cable connections. Reboots usually solve a lot of problems. Make sure that your LAN is enabled. If it is, try disabling and enabling it again. If you get invalid IP using Start>Run>cmd>ipconfig /all, like 10.10.x.x, 171.x.x.x, likely you need to call your computer manufacturer, or try to reseat your NIC or LAN card. If you get 192 authentication error, call smart tech support or try reset. Try the ping website command. If you can ping website IP, but not the website URL, likely you need to change your DNS settings. Please check too if you have proxy server settings. You could also see if you have firewalls on. If you do, turn it off. Kung doble doble antivirus/security suite mo, gawin mo isa lang dapat. Tingnan mo ren baka may parental control o surf control (like kung nasa work ka). Try another net browser, too, kasi pwede faulty browser lang. Try to optimize your browser (clear history, cache, ensure security is not High, load defaults, clear proxy settings-kasi some applications, like yahoo apps, change them). Try another website na ren, baka sira lang website na binubuksan mo. Or try to plug the antenna power cord into another socket if the antenna power pack doesn’t have a green light. In cases of shoddy electric wiring, try connecting to a socket near a bathroom (dun usually maganda electrical wiring). Remove sources of static, like halogen lamps, radio antennas, etc. Check your cables if frayed too. Try typing in 169.254.1.1 to access the antenna settings graphic user interface itself and reset refresh rate to 1, color to 210. Lastly, make sure DHCP is disabled. ![]()
