Help! How can I re-connect?

Hi peeps! Just got connected thru Smart Bro almost 3 weeks na and so far no problem encountered on my connection even it is raining, Im from Tanza Cavite cguro wala pa gaanong subscriber dito sa lugar namin :) … Canopy says that I had a Jitter of 2 and 0.51 miles Air Delay. The network speed is syempre tulad ng sabi nyo mabagal nga :( I got around 40 kbps to 160 kbps.

My problem is I’m infected by Trojan Virus and trying to cure it with a lot of virus cleaner which I downloaded on the net buto to no avail. I’m planning to re-format my hardisk because its slowing down, my question is how can I re-establish my connection on Smart after formatting my hard drive?

Suspenseful

Hi guys!

Two nights ago, i applied for a Smart Bro installation and it took only 7 minutes for the Smart Customer Service Rep (Powerplant, Rockwell) to approve it. I was both amazed and worried as i have read and heard a lot of complaints against this PLD/Smart service.

The CSRep told me to IMMEDIATELY pay the 999-peso advanced payment. They promised to install the antenna on Saturday.

I hope that i won’t suffer the same problems you have encountered because i am telling you, all hell will break loose if that happens. Bayag lang ni Manny Pangilinan ang walang latay kapag nagkataon.

For now, i could only wait in suspense and hope for the best. I am gonna update you soon.

For the meantime, sa mga bad trip sa kanilang connection, gusto kong mawala kahit papano ang inis ninyo. Just click this and i assure you, you will enjoy. This is orgasmic:

Connection unplugged

Not sure if anybody’s gone through this before, but I too used to have the regular not-so-great Smart Bro connection everybody else has (always disconnecting, slow speeds despite late hours, etc.). Could only get decent surfing done around 8 pm onwards (never connected on weekdays/weekends from morning to the afternoon, I might add), and not really as fast as I imagined things would be.

At one point, though, my connection just indicated that the network cable is unplugged, hence no Net. Called that help line, went through the same customer care dialogue, and have also just been recently told that they are escalating something to whatever higher level. Fine. From what I’ve read in the entries, it seems it’ll take them forever to finish this. Not sure if my antenna is fine (can’t check it since I can’t reach the roof), but I think it’s ok since I tried attaching a laptop to the cable, and it auto-redirected to the SMART portal site. Does that mean the Wi-Fi is fine, and it’s just my PC that’s acting up?

Can anybody help me try and figure out what the hell I need to check before I pester their customer service again? I’m thinking there has to be some process I could try first to see what really is wrong with my connection, since I don’t think they’ll be very helpful after following up again, and even if they do help, they’ll be charging me for it.

Any information you can provide would be helpful.

Customer Feedback: Lately, there had been many bad comments about Smart Bro’s, Especially on this website: http://www.smartwifi.org.ph There should be an action done about it, because if their rants grow, maybe it would become very bad for your company and us users too. Please take care of many of your subscriber’s problems, which include a not-very-technical support, no NAT port forwarding support and peak rates that make Smart Bro’s average speed become somewhere along the 128kbps line. It’s a pretty good reply, not like the in-your-face reply the untechnical support guys/gals do. So maybe now you guys can maybe send some feedback directly to smart too, instead of, uhm… planning behind their backs…

Maybe we can start by suggesting that they start a forum, that answers customer concerns and problems especially about setting up NAT for maximum bittorrent efficiency( i use BT to download software too! especially those giant sources for linux :) ), the sluggishness of it sometimes, why sometimes the thing just won’t start, etc.

I haven’t suggested it yet though, maybe some of you guys can, I’m at loss of words right now. Just remember to be courteus, know that you are talking to a real human being with feelings and anything you say has direct consequences, and to know your position relative to theirs. I mean ‘mura’/curses won’t cut it because it will just put them on the defensive, because it’s a personal attack against their humanity. Doing that might get us closer to our goal of a better wi-fi connection, or at least we tried…

Frequent Disconnection Problem

this is not a remedy but rather a suggestion….

like you guys i used to have in frequent disconnection in smartBRO then a friend of mine told me something about the canopylite that we were using. that somehow the device has a flaw in its grounding system (the yellow wire on the device which is mounted on wall). so my friend said to cut that darn thing off… and so i did (warning: cutting this off… you will be unprotected from lightning strikes ’cause the yellow wire to the device acts as a lightning arrestor)… now i have no disconnecting problems anymore. about the speed of the smartBRO well it depends upon the base and how many are you connected to that base. ie if the base has a bandwidth of 1.5mbps only and a hundrend of you connect with the speed 256kbps well you do the math but for sure the answer is SLOW CONNECTION.

and if you tried my suggestion please post something so i will know how’d it come up… :D

Yung smartbro, 1 month of hell after installation. pero na ayos din after 3 very strong emails I wrote. Now even in heavy rain di na napuputol. may ginawa lang setting sa device na nkakbit sa bubong.

Regarding througput. 20kbps up and down. consider yourself lucky if it goes upto 32kbps. If you want to see your througput. just go to ADMIN Tools | Performance tpos lagyan m ng counter yung NIC interface mo with scale sa .001, eto yung mkkita mong throughput realtime

If you do the math, yung upload 128 kilo bits per second, so divide 128 by 8 para maging bytes. so 16kbps upload theoretical max.
Yung Download, 256/8 = 32kilobytes per second.

20(average thoughput)/32 = 87.5% efficiency.

ofcouse di pa rin ako satisfied. mabagal p rin. (in malaysia, i can get 180 kbps thoughput for the same price) I can complain all I want about the speed but it won’t be considered. As long as di napuputol case closed ka na.

so workaround. download and install lansuite from download.com (free for 5 users). create a proxy server and have your home pcs use the primary pc as the gateway and proxy server. That’s the only way to make it feel like it’s going fast.

Performance for smartbro:

VIOP - isa-isa lang pd mag voip. di kaya ng throughput.
VIOP + Video Chat - ngging choppy ang voice

surfing not bad kung may proxy server ka.
Downloading files - kung via http: starts at 20kbps in a few seconds ngging 4kbps. parang may bandwidth shaper sila
pag via ftp: max ng kaya ng bandwidth lagi.
Bit Torrent: max lagi 20kbps pero make sure yung ibang pc sa network hindi rin gumagamit ng internet ksi bbagsak sila.

Mail - port 25 is blocked so no sending out email from your outlook, use a webbased email instead

Help on Smartbro

3 days pa lang nakakabit ung smartbro ko sa bahay ko pero bwisit na ko. galing ako ng ibang bansa sa kagustuhan kong magpakabit ng internet dito sa pinas para makausap ko ung pamilya ko pag nasa abroad ako eh nagpakabit ako ng smartbro pero di ko akalalin na ganito pala connection nito. sa gabi okay sya pero pag umaga laging disconnected.

tanong lang mga guys may laptop kasi ako gus2 kong ikabit din sya sa smart bro kaso di ko alam yung portal ng smartbro eh alam nyo ba yung website na ieenter mo ung user name and password mo. tarantado kasi ung nagkabit bago umalis denilete ung history ng ie di ko tuloy makita. saka may alam ba kayo ng ways para mag port forward bagal kasi ng downloading ng torrents eh. ska kung lagi kang disconnected pano ba magparebate.

nga pala parehas din ako nung naranasan nyo pagawag ko sa custumer service nila eh ganun din ung mga sinasabi. nakakaasar na di ba nila pwedeng ausin ang connections ng lahat.

Smart Bro Better Daw?

I used to be smart wifi owner, few days after installation I start to get some irritating downtime and my outgoing mails always get stuck with my out going box, i keep calling their hot line for assistance and I get almost the same routine reply from the call center that I could probably apply for the job.

Complained finally to the Smart Center and was convinced to upgrade to SMART Bro and loo and behold now I have a connection that is more expensive that work or does not work like the Smart Wifi, duh! Oh sometime is work fast but does not have the consistency to work all or at least most of the time…..

Mahusay ang smartbro (kuno!)

4 days na ko wala connection sa internet.august 28 nawalan ng connection. sa araw din na un..tumwag na ako sa hotline nila *1888.kung ano ano pinagawa. ipina- ipconfig /release tapos ipconfig /renew. tapos ipinarestart ang computer. tapos ayun wala pa rin…….check daw nila sa kanilang base station. ok daw naman ang connection.. ok ba nman un eh wala nga ako connection. talagang hotline pano ba naman nakakapag init ng punong tenga dahil sa mga agent paulit ulit lang ang sinasabi. next day. tumawag ulit ako na baka nman meron na magsasabi na i sched na lang para mapuntahan ng technician wala pa din gusto nman ipa ipconfig at restart ang comp. kahit nasabi na follow up na lang ang ginagawa ko.at ilang beses ko na din sinabi sa kanila na nagawa ko na ung series ng pagtrouble shoot. pwede na nga siguro ako mag apply na call center agent ng smarbro dahil halos saulo ko na ang kanilang mga sinasabi.

Kahapon tumawag ako. sabi imonitor daw ng technical group nila ung connect sa base station.tumawag daw ako after 24 hours.wala nman akong napala. buti n lang nde ako masyadong kumakain ng ma kolesterol, kung hinde baka nahighblood ako at inatake ako sa puso sa dahil sa galit inis asar…kanina tumawag ulit ako baka meron na development.WALANGHIYANG SMART BRO YAN. WALA PA DIN NANGYARI…NDE PA RAW NA I-EVALUATE NG KANILANG TECHNICAL GROUP. 4 NA 3 DAYS ANG NAKALIPAS NDE PA NA I-EVALUATE… isa lang ang ibig sabihin nun BULOK ANG KANILANG SERBISYO. AT PINAPABAYAAN NA LANG ANG KANILANG MGA SUBSCRIBER… maayos lang sila pag mga application palang ang dumarating sa kanila. agad pag nag apply ka kahit sa internet lang. pag umaga ka ngapply hindi lilipas ang maghapon papadalhan ka na agad ng ref# para sa babayaran mo.at tatawagan ka pa. tapos pag nde ka nman agad nakabayad..para sa installation fee. tatawagan ka ulit. ask nila if kung wala pa raw natatangap na ref #. kababait.talagang sisiguraduhin pa nila na nasa bahay ka para sa pagkakabit ng internet. minomonitor pa nila kung nasaan na ang mga contructor nila.at ipapaalam sa inyo na on the way na papunta sa bahay ninyo ang mga kumag..pero pag ganito na nangyayari nagloloko na ang connection, wala na…wala na makuha na tulong mula sa kanila.kaasar talaga.
pagikakabit ang internet within 3-5 days meron na.! PERO pag kaw na ang nadisconnect!
langya. baka nman nakalipas na ang isang buwan wala parin kahit araw araw ka na tumawag sa kanila… KAYA KAYO KUNG BALAK NYO MAG PAKABIT NG SMART BRO. magisip muna kayo..mahirap na magsisi.
