Does PLDT myDSL-W still exist?

The recent re-branding of Smart Wifi to Smart Bro also completes a bundling of all fixed wireless services by PLDT, Smart and Meridian.

A quick search for the term “smart wifi” would show Smart’s official website on #1 but clicking on it showed a deleted page while a new page has been created for Smart Bro.

The earlier announcement indicated that PLDT’s myDSL-W will also be bundled into Smart Bro. However, a website on PLDT myPad still shows the services for myDSL-W (wireless fixed broadband) as available:

SMART WiFi is now SMART Bro

Smart BroYour favorites wireless broadband service, Smart Wifi, is now called Smart Bro - with more promotional bundles, improved service quality and enhanced customer experience (accoridng to their press release).

Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications Inc. (SMART) today unveiled ‘Smart Bro’, the new brand for its wireless broadband offering, marking a move from its earlier Smart WiFi brand.

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) will also be reselling Smart Bro in place of myDSL-W, its similar wireless broadband service brand.

Starting April 23, customers who avail of the Smart Bro service will enjoy new promotional bundles. Sales and customer service processes are also being upgraded to improve the customer experience.

The launch of Smart Bro underscores the strategy of the PLDT group to provide its customers with the widest range of broadband connectivity solutions and establish its leadership in the broadband market nationwide.

Initially, Smart Bro is available on one package at Php999.00 monthly, VAT inclusive.

Subscribers will need a PC with Pentium II or higher, 128 MB RAM or higher (preferable 256 MB RAM), Ethernet/ LAN Card, at least 10GB of hard disk space and operating system of Windows 98, 2000, XP, Linux or McIntosh OS.

The Smart Bro service will be available for application at any Smart Wireless Center or PLDT Business Office nationwide, or through any accredited Smart or PLDT Sales agents. Sales activation and after-sales service customer support numbers for SMART Bro remains at *1888 from Smart cellphones, (02) 672 -7277, and PLDT toll-free 1-800-10-772-7277.

Smart Wifi Complaint Center

I decided to open up a dedicated site for all Smart Wifi subscribers so that all information, support, technical and legal advice are shared and disseminated here.

All visitors can register and will be allowed to post comments and even share information under Customer Complaints, Technical/Legal Advice and Smart Wifi News categories. The submissions must include the subscriber’s name, their location and the date when they first subscribed to Smart Wifi.

Some of the information that has been shared in my personal blog will be moved here.
